lol i like it MOE, especially the Dominion one :D

with regards to the mouse it happend to be a microsoft one :D, nevertheless i managed to finally get it installed and working, being playing supremacy for a bit now, great game and is come along since i last played.

I like the idea of the 'split screen' interface for the diplomacy though it may get confusing when you don't know who is who just be using pictures alone. I'll have to play some more to get a bigger picture of the game though keep up the good work MStrobel.

@MoE: the server has also the advantage of a "hot seat"-mode cause if you duplicate the exe and run multiple instances you can actually play against yourself on one computer pressing alt-tab all the time. Okay it sucks at more than 2 players since you loose the ability to do stuff parallel but well at least you can test something you wanna test out against someone who is as good as you

Hey mike has there been any thought of a fleet wide recall button? With the size of the game map to put like a spot to where you have all your ships move into one area maybe a thought.

P.S. this latest version is the most stable game I have played. other then the hang time of the ship movements.

@Malvoisin: I actually implemented a check that prevents more than one copy of Supremacy from running at the same time. I did that because the initial loading time was so long for the first few releases that I was afraid people would think it wasn't actually loading and would try to launch it again ;). I guess that's not really necessary anymore.

@Valcoren: Good, glad to hear it :). Maybe a fleet recall button that could either bring all the ships back into your space? I'm not sure there are many cases where you'd want to have all your ships in one sector.

That would be even a good option right now even though I have a bunch of ships in my fleet they are still spread very then because of the size of my claimed space.

hm, that and maybe a borg orbital bombardment scenario could have you want getting all ships back in one place or a small passage which you wanna defend against a large enemy fleet though it would be best then to actually set a square field (2x2,3x3,..) arising from one point set in which they should all get in as quickly and directly as possible..

Hey McLeast, sorry to hear you've got a problem. I've never heard of this sht thing before. In all honesty I thought you were trying to say something else...

Open the error.txt file, select ALL the text, (Press Ctrl+A) then copy-and-paste (Ctrl+C, make a new post, then Ctrl+V) it into a post here for Mike to see. He might better understand the problem you're encountering. (Or at least know what it means lol)

One thing that I usually make people check is whether you followed the instructions completely, though. If something is apparently missing, it's probable that .Net didn't install properly or something. You MUST make sure you uninstall all previous versions of .Net on your computer BEFORE you install version 3 - that's why I put the link to the Microdollar tool in Mike's post.

Your best bet is to wait until Mike replies first though. He is the game developer, so *should* be able to help.

...

Welcome to the site. :)

You don't need to uninstall other versions of the .NET Framework unless you have pre-release copies of the v3.0 Framework installed (which I would assume nobody does anymore). It runs fine alongside v1.0, v1.1, and v2.0.

There's also no way to win ;). However, you can edit the tech trees yourself using SupremacyEditor.

Three things... er... four things.... No. Make that five.

First: love it. Thank you *very* much.

Second: I've not kept up with this thread and it's too late at night to try to read all of it. If the following is redundant, I apologize.

Third: If the Bolian first contact statement says they live on the ninth planet, then there ought to be at least nine planets in their system. The game I'm playing has only three there.

Fourth: I still have to goto the options menu for the program to remember that I've turned the music off... Every time I bring up a saved game, first the music is on, then I right click, click on 'menu', get to the entrance window and the music turns itself off. I then hit 'continue', go to the system window, wait for the music to load, go back to the entrance window and let it remember the music is off. Etc.

Fifth: It crashed and spit out an error.txt.

First of all, i like the game very much. It's a lot of fun playing it.

What i'm missing a little is an empirewide view of the industrial production. Sometimes my systems don't produce anything at all and with a lot of planets it's tricky to keep up with everything.

What i like the most is the very clever industrial production and that you can build more things at one time if you have enough wokers.

(if my english is a little strange, that's because i'm german, so don't mind ;-) )

Hey Eykjo, and welcome to the forums! I've been thinking about adding a colony screen showing all of your systems, their current/max populations, growth rates, current production, morale, etc. Would this help? Any other info you think should go in there?

Well here's half of an example of the moo3 planets screen,

Image

Others include, money/science/intel, current ships held in system, plaent size and type, any special resources, events?, land forces. special structures such as outposts/ barracks?

I'am sure there are more, though the list grows :D

Hey McLeast, thanks for the error report. It looks like you're missing the string table. Maybe you downloaded a patch for the game without downloading the full demo first?

what i meant in the first place was a window showing all my colonies and what they're producing right now. Then a look in this window is enough for controlling if they build anything new or if the colonies can upgrade new facilitys which have just been build. (Like in botf one) But what you wrote above shows me that you are nearly thing about everything. Sometimes i'm just asking the questions a little too early, not knowing what you're planning.

Another very good thing from the original was that you could use your up/down/right/left bars to change the system you were looking at. If you want to check all your colonies its more effective than always use the menu.

I can't wait for the real thing an am very grateful that there are such creative people like you producing a fantastic second part of my favorite game. I'm very interessted in seeing the diplomatic menu and i like you're changes.

Is there an empire in the delta quadrant? Borg ;-) maybe? Because it would be an great advantage in the game for the neigboring empires to now that no empire is waiting for you in an great area.

There aren't any empires planned for the Delta quadrant, but we'll probably end up tweaking the delta quadrant minor races to make them more aggressive and expansive.

The Borg are from the Delta Quadrant...but they are also A Random Event

I don't mind having the Borg as an Empire. They're in the game either way.

...

I liked the ability to change colonies by the cursor keys as well. That would be a nice adition to the game. You've already changed how the mouse works for me Mike, why not do the same for the Keyboard? Pleeeease? :)

...

Eykjo, the Diplomacy screen won't be in for a while...unless Mike has a surprise he hasn't told me about. Ideas and feedback should push Mike towards doing one though, so keep at it!

...I got bored after re-animating three frames.

Does that mean that (all?) the minors also colonize systems?

No, Eykjo, most of the minor races will not be able to - we are trying to keep the game roughly cannon, and there are plenty of races in Trek that either don't have the tech to expand, don't have the resources, are in decline, or simply don't want to.

There will also be a difference between some of the races - some races are expandable - they can colonise nearby planets over time, whilst others can build ships to defend themselves with - but won't expand to other systems. I've just gone through the shiplist, and this is how the Delta Quadrant minor races stand:

  • 35 Minor Races
  • 13 Of These Are Expandable
  • 23 Of These Races Have Ships
  • 12 Of These Races Do Not Have Ships
  • The Nezu are expandable - but they don't have ships. This is probably a mistake.
  • One of the "extra" races, the Boray, aren't in the main list because we lack a picture of other information about them. They are a Delta Quadrant race that aren't expanable and have no ships.

There's not much point if the races don't have an AI - you'll just end up taking control of dead systems. AI is therefore more important - plus it'll give your ships something to do.

Oh, and by re-animating I mean I've used the protesters before - they were originally from the no-crap posting probation that Jig put CVN-65 and a couple of others under a year or two ago. I wish I knew what happened to CVN, he was a laugh and was a regular poster. He hasn't been around since Hurricane Katrina though. I hope that's just a coincidence... 8O

I've seen some more things witch seemed a little strange and i have some sujestions and because i don't know where to out them, i do it here...

* In a small galaxy i had two systems with the same name

* Wouldn't it be better if the minors would at least have a population >100? Meeting Vulcans living in a system with a population of 5 doesn't feel right.

* the flightpath is different from botf 1. When you want your ship going two above and 2 on the right side, the ships go sideways first and then up or down. In Botf this was different. First up/down and then to the side. It would be perfect if you could choose how your ship is flying, because you can explore the systems more efficiently. (That is just my personal view ;-) )

* I was always wondering why the star trek games don't use solar energy. Do you have any use for another energyfacility on a dessert planet? That could be handy, because the energy costs are high for the most buildings.
