It was a 2hr 55 min film with the Cylons nuking the planets, the new president, and the creation of the rag-tag fleet. I don't imagine that there was anything before that...

*Edit - I just googled the "film" and Amazon have the mini-series for sale - and it has the same box as the one that I watched. It must've been the mini-series that I saw.

The new film is a 2hr. segment telling the story of the BattleStar Pegasus before it encounters Galactica. This will air before release of the final series.

To answer the question of if this movie is a big hit they will come out with a new throw-back TV show. It is highly unlikely the high grade actors they have rumored for this movie would commit to going to the TV screen. And Star Trek has always had one or two well known actors in the movies. Even Patrick Stewart had a very successful big screen career before Star Trek. Along with Kristy Ally, Christian Slater. Wil Wheaton had a good start in the Big Screens with “Stand by Meâ€￾ but he has fallen from the face of the planet since Star Trek.

DS9 will never see the light of the big screen reason why it the story line is not marketable to the movie theaters unless they redid the Dominion Wars.

If anyone remembers Star trek the motion picture? That is why you don’t make and Star Trek movie about exploration.

All we need is another First Contact (with a massive space battle), and all will be well.
