I may be paranoid, or simply confused
But on occassion it's hard not to notice, like today to see around 40+ visitors around 80% of which hanging around 'your account'. Is it normal, is it rather strange to see so many visitors at one time?
Do these people eventually log in
Or will one of them eventually offer me time shares in some Nigerian offshore account if only i can give them my bank details
Regards Wolfe

We seem to have had a surge in traffic. I suspected the sudden incrase in membership was due to the downloads section requiring an account now, but we also seem to have a lot more visitors. Regardless of the reason, I think it's a good thing .
On a side note, the Supremacy project page on CodePlex has had 713 page views in the one week it's been up, but it doesn't have any links that lead back here.

Cool, i eventually got the source code, but sadly the free MS visual C# express edition or whatever its called is to old an addition it seems to fiddle around supremacy with, though at least it allows my to look.
I never got used to MS Visual, i went down the route of Dev C++.

You might be able to load it with Visual C# Express 2008 Beta 2.

I can think of 2 reasons which mainly caused the upsurge in visitors:
1. the upcoming conquest renewed much near-dead brain cells among many star trek gamers that there actually was something good called botf in the past and well, our site has been linked on various official boards and news pages. That we even surpass the regular botf1 afc site in new member numbers is a strong hint, that those latter-mentioned links have much to do with the newbies here.
2. my editing the wikipedia entry of botf (okay, much lower impact than 1.), I just fleshed our games a bit out.
and of course the download-to-member-restriction which led to a higher "New yesterday"-number which then causes more interest for the casual user to stay on site here because well he must think the site has something good to offer if so many people joined the day before..

It would be nice that there really is an increased interest. I hope it translated into more contributors and by that momentum. This would be gratification for all the long term devotes. New blood is welcome.

Wow yeah, the number of visitors really jumped in August. I wonder why? How did all you new guys find out about this site? Did we suddenly become famous?

But what was strange to me was that 70% are always looking in 'your account', its not the most interesting part of the site, i wish more were looking at the forums lol.

your account is also the pre-step of registering and sums up many things, also when you wanna answer a post as a guest and haven't registered, a "your_account"-page is shown so it's mostly a guy who wanted to post something and then lost interest cause he couldn't without having to register IMHO.

Wow...that means the noobs want to post! That's something that the forums have really had a problem with over the last three years of forum life. We really need the noobs to be more more vocal here.

I noted one point where we had 80 people online here at one time. You would think someone in that crowed could figure out how to post.

Yeah Jig, I PM'd him and I saw him reading his PM's just now. No reply yet though.
*Edit - Mal has replied now - and he has said NO to being the ambassadore due to concerns that it'll attract unwelcome legal attention to BotE. I've told Chessmess and he understands the suituation, so it looks like BotE will be under the radar for the time being...
