@wolfe: just put an image with the object's unique ID as the filename in the \Resources\Images\TechObjects folder (i.e. "aquaculture_center.png" or "aquaculture_center.jpg"). The game will look for the PNG image first, then the JPG image if it doesn't find a PNG. I use all-lowercase letters in the filenames by convention. It's not required, but it's preferred. That reminds me of another feature I need to add to the editor. Right now, you can't use the same image for a series of buildings (i.e. Plasma Reactor Type 1-4, if that's even a real building). Don't worry about theses for now.
If anyone wants to be a *HUGE* help... it would be fantastic if someone could search through this thread and make a list of any specific bugs that people have mentioned. That includes anything in messages that I posted inreference a feature that I've "been meaning to fix", "forgotten about", "will add later", etc. Don't worry about unexplained crashes--just include specifically identified items. Then, send the list to me, or if you want to be a real superstar, create a CodePlex account and post them individually to the [url=http://www.codeplex.com/Supremacy/WorkItem/List.aspx]Supremacy Issue Tracker[/i] as either a Proposed Issue (if it's a bug) or a Proposed Feature (if it's a planned feature or feature request). If you're up for it, just post a reply so people know that someone is already on the job. Thanks!

Send MOE a quick PM he might have one or to small tasks you could spend the ensuing weeks on.
You could look for as many pictures of buildings, ships as is necessary for the various races, but as i don't know really how much has been done or needs doing it could be a task.
Essentially someone needs to look through Dafedz Old buildings and ship list website and then use it to make a list of what needs pictures.
Then compare it to what we have already ingame and stored on the BOTF consortium website and check them off the list.
Later begin either making more, acquiring more or begging others for more so as to slowly fill up each needed picture slot.
I don't know who wants to do qaulity control, MStrobel or MOE would probably have a good idea at content, legality and size etc each picture would need to be.
Regards Wolfe

The minor race structures all have images - Zeleni made tons of them, with contributions from others such as Skeeter.
The ship images are all in my shiplist thread. HOWEVER these images are NOT designed for use in a game - the ships are different angles, images are different sizes/file formats, some were made in a program while others are renders...that'll need to be sorted out eventually. You might as well forget about the images for the time being, Wolfe.

Posted a minor update.
CHANGES SINCE LAST RELEASE:
This is a minor update. You can now use the left/right arrow keys to switch between your colonies in the System screen. Right-clicking to un-scrap production facilities no longer results in the game menu popping up. Same goes for right-clicking to deselect a task force. The editor now supports negative bonus values (i.e. for Morale). There are a few other random bugfixes as well. Diplomacy is a work in progress and has been disabled in this release.

Sorry, mlongfiled, there isn't a donate link because it would be illegal to do so - these are fan-based games, and we certainly do not hold the licence for star trek. Taking money for the games would therefore be against the law.
...You can pay us with ideas and support instead.
...
I'll get cracking with updating my updates, Mike.

simply use the Ultimate Editor and open any stbof.res file. I'm not sure if there's a site with the pics conveniently listed..

Eek...you're in for the long haul there, Wolfe.
ALL of the image files for BOTF are in a file called STBOF.res - it's in your BOTF folder. Open this file with Winzip, then extract all the image files and go through them manually.
...Unfortunately there are about SIZ THOUSAND image files for the game, so it's gonna take you a long time.
I do know that the images you're specifically after are .tga files though (A particularly old and annoying file type) and not all of the image files are .tga's so that narrows it down a bit.
Sorry I can't be of more help, Wolfe. I'd get the files for you but i'm simply too busy.
*Edit - damn you Mal!
You can use the Ultimate editor, but that's only if it works for you - i'm one of the unfortunate few people who has problems with it, and DCER can't trace the cause of the problem. It's something to do with Java, but that's all we know.

NP either way i may just have to get screen captures to hold me for the time being.
I've basically collated pictures for editing and use later on, i'll upload it to sharepoint later, basically just ship images taken from the sharepoint site and other sites all into one zip, should make it easier if modellers want to have a look at some designs to implement.
I was hoping to include the ship images from bote Malv if thats alright?

As Matress pointed out, I forgot to include the editor in yesterday's update, so I published a new one.

Don't overwrite your old one or you'll overwrite the additions you made to the tech database (unless you backed up your /Resources/Data directory, of course).

All the tech names and descriptions (ships, buildings, etc.) are stored in the strings table in /Resources/Strings/en-US.txt, wolfe. And the old editor is incompatible with the latest build, so you'll end up with some invalid data if you do that.

Hmm copying over resoruces/strings seems to be fine but copying over /Data causes an error "could not load tech database"

Wolfe, I encountered that problem. The problem is down to the habitation project. You need to delete the entire entry for the habitation project in the TechObjectsDatabase.xml file.
Alternatively you could just (Scroll down to the bottom of the page then right-click save as the file. Clicking the link just opens it in your browser! )
Put it into your Supremacy/Resources/Data folder, and let it overwrite your existing file. You'll be able to open the editor again then, Wolfe.
...
I haven't actually lost all that much stuff, Wolfe. All the names of the minor race buildings need to be added in again, (But the buildings, their stats and everything else is still safe) and I need to add in the diplomacy reports for the minor races again. These are in Dafedz's database though, so that's just a matter of copy-and pasting them from from the database again. I didn't lose anything else.

You shouldn't have lost the diplomacy reports, Matress, those should have been in the Data folder. Might want to make sure they're getting saved correctly.
