To prevent cheats, perhaps have a hash file check on all files used while playing mp, and get a check from all players as well at the start of the game. If they dont match the stock version or hosts version then a message should be able to pop up saying "client version does not match hosts version" or something to that effect.

if you remember our game yesterday when you joined me, you sure noticed all was in german. well we have that security thing, that all players get the settings of the host player sent which means, all play the same version Wink.

Edit: a better place to discuss would have been the sticky topic "Editing/modding the game". Unfortunately merging doesn't work yet so we have to wait and s(pl)it Laughing

Go into your BotE Install folder. There you can finde the BotE.ini file. Open it (e.g. with Windows Editor) and replace the difficulty value (BABY, EASY, NORMAL, HARD, IMPOSSIBLE). Save it and play BotE.

it's a MS Vista problem. The OS sees .ini files as important system files and doesn't let you alter them unless you deactivate the system file security setting in Windows Explorer. .ini files once actually were important operating system files for Windows 3.11, 95 and 98 ;).
