Thanks, JeanNYGUARD! This might surprise you but we don't really have legions of people falling over to say thanks - most of the people on these forums have never posted anything at all, let alone a simple thank you.
...But there are still a few people - such as yourself - who do say thank you. Your thanks are appreciated by all of us. Now treat yourself to downloading the latest version of Birth of the Empires. It was only uploaded yesterday.

Thanks for your kind words, JeanNYGUARD. It's always gratifying (and motivating) to know that we're making a difference . And yes, listen to the matress and grab some Birth of the Empires action .

I stumbled on to this site quite by accident, when trying to find out if there were any Botf similar games out there for me to get hold of and I have to reiterate JeanNYGUARD's thanks!
Having downloaded BotE the other week and pretty much played it every night since, I'm in awe of the work everyone has put in to this. It's superb stuff, so well done you. A pat on the back is due methinks.
I can't wait for further BotE updates and of course news on the other incarnations of Botf being developed. Once again, top notch work chaps.

alright, tx!
yeah, the way over google and botf2 search is currently nearly the only way to get to us here but we don't wanna change that since, you know, there is an upcoming 4x turn-based commercial st strategy game from bethesda (though not very much like botf and wii and ps2 only for the moment) so we rather have a little low-profile here..

Actually Mal, more than a quarter of the visits that we get on the forums are referrals from Wikipedia, Startrek-games.com, and the BotE forums - and the amount is increasing by the day. The amount of site traffic that we get from referrals is actually almost the same as the amount of visits that we get from search engines such as google.
The bulk of our traffic is from returning/direct users though. That means either we have a lot of lurkers or some people are on the forums a bit too much. I'm err...guessing it's the lurkers...

yeah, those (german) bote forums referals are due to the fact that I keep making jokes there about posts here, ..err.. no, wait, I only point to interesting thoughts and ideas, that was it, yes, anyway didn't know that old botf wikipedia article is that much visited...

It was from google, via the wikipedia entry that I found my way here, so I would guess that's a similar path for a lot of people.

I think I found this site with Google... don't really remember, it's been a few years. Honestly, at the time I didn't pay it much mind, as I really didn't think this project would amount to anything . I guess in a way I was right, considering the game that was supposedly being made at the time turned out to be vaporware...

I found this site through google looking for windows xp mod. I had just finished building a new system, and normally one of the firsts things I install after I test the system out is botf.

I found these forums through google only about 4 months after they were created. I actually found them before I found the main AFC site - which I discovered existed when I played around with the url and deleted the botfii bit. These were the very first forums I ever signed up to - I only got internet access 2 months before.

When were these forums created anyway? I found them back in 2004, but didn't join until about a year later.

The forums were created in September 2004. I joined 2nd December 2004. The forum statistics don't go all the way back to then because we lost a server or something in mid-2005. The forums have definitely grown since I joined though. I was signee number 427, and now there are 3426 people.
