Oh god that's a lot of minor races, does the spreadsheet say which ones have textured ? Kenneth_of_Borg wrote: Looks nice. It would be nice to make a video for the game once we have the combat engine. I will start programming it tomorrow.

for the dkyr you might ask this guy from trekmeshes.ch if he lends the model (MoE, you up to it? ): http://trekmeshes.ch/ (just post him a comment asking for use of this beautiful mesh)

Remember, beside the model .rar on SharePoint, please also put the new 270x225 png into the image library section of SharePoint http://www.botf2.com/Image%20Library/Fo ... aces&View={2EAB3CAC-2EF3-4EA6-85DB-87B0D9B58BA0} Ships and Stations \ Minor Races You have to click over to the second page to see the Vulcans.

Hehe more than enough, I just needed to know, cause I had started on a ship that's not on the list I made another render that fits better with how the show lit the Surak-class. I think it's an improvement

The D'kyr we've currently got is really crap, high polygons and doesn't really look anything like the Dkyr except for the ring arrangement. I tried to look for another one, found one at sci-fi mesh, but it was too detailed, it took like a minute to render lol. I'm having a go at building it from scratch it'll be my first model that isn't an asteroid

I found this for the Dominion Outpost II. It needs to be textured.

Trekmeshes model is high poly and she takes more then minute to render.... Strings will build low-poly from skratch ... and we don't need permission for using

ah, so I take "low-polying" a high-poly mesh is not that easy, okay .

Maybe there's a technique to reducing high poly models, but with the automated tools the result is nearly always crap.

In the case of DS9 I was able to engineer a lower poly mesh off the high poly. Others just fall apart and you are better off starting from scratch.

Kenneth_of_Borg wrote: From another thread: If work on the combat engine was to the point where we knew what file type to build in it would save time. There is a lot of model work to go. Knowing the file type, even the axis of orientation, would save time over hundreds of models. The current system of exporting it to .3ds is fine, it's flexible enough to allow retexturing and minor rotational and scaling tweaks down the line. The plan is to have a helper file accompanying each model, specifying where the beam and torpedo will shoot from ie. its weapon hardpoints. An editor with a small graphical display of the model would be needed to help speed that process up, and I am sure scaling and rotation fixes can easily be added at that point too. On an unrelated note, I just slept for 15 hours, man I sure was tired. gonna check out the latest supremacy build now

You're not starting to show your age now are you?
Of course I have no idea what your age is so feel free to respond to that however you wish.

Breaks do help keep you focused on your work. Take what I am doing for example, in order to keep myself from getting burned out while studying I often do things like listen to a radio show or have the forum up on my computer while working math problems. The occasional response seems to be enough extra stimulation to prevent outright boredom and/or a burned out feeling in your mind from setting in.

21 and 23? It's surprising how many people are around the same age group in these forums with myself being in the middle of that. Where is Winterhawk when you need him? We could use someone to round out our group that has a bit more real life experience... Of course at our age's how likely would we really be to even pay attention to it?
