So if sound does not travel in a vacuum why do vacuum cleaners make so much noise?

Well... The weather took a drastic turn in central Texas. The forecast was for highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s but like typical unpredictable Texas weather, it is now 2 degrees below freezing and will likely get even colder tonight. Even when the weather service makes a prediction by just a few hours or less the have managed to be wrong yet again. It's not really their fault or anything... Texas weather just likes to assert itself every once in a while when people start to think that they have it figured out. (i.e. rain with a clear sky, next to no chance of rain or near 100% and the exact opposite occurs, warm weather predicted when it turns out too be anything but)

Yeah...just noticed I wasn't the first. Next time... Besides, it's Starfox...how could you NOT say that? Matress likes Starfox. By the way, did you ever enter my friend code on the Wii, Fox? I never recieved any messages or anything saying you did. You're going down when Super Smash Bros. Brawl comes out!

Lol Slippy has always been like that, Wolfe. Even in the original SNES game, Starwing - which I actually have and could play at this exact moment if I wanted to. The voice acting in Starwing is even worse though - as in a single sound file looped over and over again every time that character speaks. *shudders*

Quote: By the way, did you ever enter my friend code on the Wii, Fox? I never recieved any messages or anything saying you did. You're going down when Super Smash Bros. Brawl comes out! Sorry. I just haven't even gotten around to playing on any games on my Wii lately. Aside from a few questions I am working on right now and a test on the 10th, there is nothing left on my schedule before I can just goof off all that I want. As for the challenge... We'll see. Not even three of my friends working together were able to take me down... So yeah...

The SNES game was called Starfox Did ya'll get a different version in Europe? Any way, here is a challenge for everyone. Try to translate this memorable line from the SNES Starfox game. "Mwa mwa mwa mwamwaa!"

speaking of games, this kinda reminds me of snes too somehow (don't ask me how ): it's a pre-screenshot of Star Trek Online. Well I give them the benefit of a doubt that the race graphics and the ships get better in terms of non-cartoonishness but I have the gut feeling that a little teenie-toonie is exactly what sells best (sadly among non-trekkies ).

I imagine that cartoony looking aliens would be easier too make so less time development wise would have to be given over too modeling so additions could be produced faster.
PS Any guesses on what the Starfox SNES quote is when translated?

The game was released as Starwing in Europe coz Atari had already released a game called Starfox. Starfox 64 was also called Lylat Wars in Europe. I've played/owned every Starfox game there has been - Lylat Wars is the only game i've not originally owned, but I borrowed the_tall_stumpy_one's N64 for err..two years...and played the game to death. I eventually game him the N64 back but he's since given it back to me - and now it's broke. And it isn't the fuse coz I tried replacing that. I've downloaded Lylat Wars onto my Wii now. I considered myself an expert on Lylat Wars and i've still got a piece of paper with my old highscores written on it hehe. I say considered instead of consider coz i've since seen a video on Youtube of some guy playing the game and he shoots down enemies I never even knew existed... Anyways, I really can't decide which Starfox game I like best. I've played Lylat Wars to death, but I REALLY like Starfox Adventures. It might be a Gamecube game but I think it's got some of the best graphics and music i've ever seen in a game. Starfox: Assault was awful when it comes to both the controls and the graphics, although the first level is pure eye candy. Fox has absolutely no emotion or feeling, and the amazing fur detail of Stafox Adventures is non-existent in Assault. I'd love to know why the first boss is called Oikonny though - that sounds soo Japanese and in Lylat Wars Andross's nephew was Andrew, not 'Oikonny'. God I wish Rare hadn't turned traitor and gone to the Micro$oft side. Who knows how Assault would've turned out if they had made it instead of the evil Namco... Starfox Command DS is pretty cool as a game as well, and I particularly like the controls. The ships aren't very good at doing barrel rolls to avoid weapons, (But they look like they spinning really fast) and it's a bit wierd that each character now has personalised Arwings, but I think the personalised Arwings is something that should've been in Starfox since the start. Some of the personalisations are actually pretty good, such as the 'feathers' on Falco's wings. I even like the Starfox game on Warioware: Smooth Moves. It's a shame it's so short, coz the controls are really cool, but at least there are three stages and not just the one. And having ROB as the boss just makes me laugh. So many choices...but I think i'd have to say Starfox Adventures is my favourite game. I just love my Zelda-esque action puzzles. Oh, and i'm not sure what the voices are either, Fox. I just thought it was a random garbled voice looped over and played at different speeds. *Edit - wow I just realised i'm talking to Fox about Fox...

I'm liking this random thread. Well, I had a NES, and a SNES, but never played Starfox games. The next gen came and I got a Playstation, and then this year I got a PS2 (slow again) and I have not owned another Nintendo console since, played a bit on the Wii last year with uni flatmates though, hilarious stuff.

Anyhow, personally I don't like Command and will never buy it. Assault, in my opinion is half done and lost the feel of SF:64 largely because the elimination of the burst fire every time the lasers are fired largely eliminated the feel of a realistic dogfight that SF:64 had. DP... Where should I start... Do you really think that a seasoned mercenary would agree to go into a dangerous situation with absolutely no weapons at all? To be honest, with the track record of SF lately... I wouldn't mind if no more SF games are made until someone is found that would be able to do them right. Really, most people aren't aware of this but I am not the only one frustrated with the turn that the SF franchise has taken. Nintendo is also very frustrated about it as well so I just may get my wish.

No. I take it that the game is similar to the SNES SF.

Nope, not heard of it either, traenol. I've only ever played one game on an Atari and I can't even remember the name of it. It was some christmas thing where you had to collect presents that were falling from the sky... Since I can't talk about the Atari...i'll talk about my SNES. I've got 5 games - Starwing, Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario All Stars, Illusion of Time (Known as Illusion of Gaia in Europe, dunno if it was released in America) and Zelda: Link to the Past. I also have the Super Gameboy so I can play all 12 of my Gameboy classic games. I used to have 13 Gameboy classic games, but I lost Zelda: Link's Awakening a few years ago. The Gameboy classic is the ONLY way I can play these old games now coz my Gameboy classic fell apart - literally. I absolutely love Donkey Kong - great music, lots of humour and I still think the graphics are pretty good. I'm annoyed at it though coz i've got a 99% completion rate - after 10 years I still haven't found that last hidden room! I haven't played Super Mario All Stars in a while, but it's a good game coz it contains all the original Mario games, plus the Lost Levels - which was never previously released outside of Japan. Illusion of Time is an ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC game. I've spent hours and hours playing it. Good music, 60+ hours of gameplay, good graphics, and a storyline that can suck you in. Plus several main characters die during the course of the game! Not many games can claim that! The only downside is that there is TONS of talking and the Mu level just goes on forever! And Zelda: Link to the Past is just a classic of the Zelda series. I can't fault that game...except for Ganon, the final boss - who looks like a rabid pig.
