No problems whatsoever on my side. I'm using the default settings for my map. Small, Irregular, Dense, Dense, Many. Maybe it is something wrong with the map? If you could post the Error.txt file here, I'm sure sir mstrobel will help you with the issue. Also, what system are you running it on? I'm running Supremacy on a 2.2Ghz dual core system with 2gb of ram and the 256 mb nvidia 8600m gt (mine's a laptop, btw). Supremacy's doing great so far. :)

EDIT: On Turn 30, it just hung there at "Performing Pre-Turn Operations". I could right click and go out to the main menu but I can't do anything else. All the other buttons like Continue, Single Player, Multi Player, Options, and the rest are greyed out. The cause of this is the colonizing order I gave to my colony ship. But other than that, it works fine. WIll go on turn after turn to see how much performance hit it would make. :)

Hmm i assume you simply didn't copy over the old copy right?, but downloaded and unzipped to a seperate folder, considering MStrobel normally assigns the folder name to include the date, so naturally i would assume it was differant to any previous version.

As it says in the release notes, this is a highly experimental build. I normally wouldn't release anything this unpolished, but I wanted to get some feedback on the turn processing performance. I'm in the process of rewriting a lot of the code for performance reasons, and some of that is currently half finished, which is bound to have some side effects like the ones you guys are experiencing. I have encountered some of these issues myself, and they are being investigated :).

Anyway, I don't really recommend the latest release for anything other than performance testing.

Guys, if you want to have a look at my updates, DELETE the resources folder from Supremacy, (The NON-EXPERIMENTAL VERSION) download the file I posted for Mike, and unzip it into the Supremacy folder.

...

If ever you encounter a situation where you can't click the turn button, try entering your system, then press escape to return to the map view. I find that this sometimes makes the turn button clickable again.

Glad you're enjoying the game :). I'm still working diligently over here, and I don't plan on losing my momentum any time soon. I'm taking the entire week of Christmas off to work on Supremacy. I don't actually celebrate Christmas, but it's a great time to take some vacation since the office is pretty empty during the holidays ;).

@matress: I got your updates merged into my experimental branch. There were names and descriptions missing for about 8 items, so I added the names myself, and you can go back and edit the descriptions later. Also, a bunch of your home system definitions had the inhabitants set to Human (I thought I fixed that ), so I fixed the new ones that I merged in. I may post an update with the changes tonight.

@Margus: ~2 seconds per turn in a Huge galaxy is a very good time--are you running a quad-core system?

I may have a fix for the freezing issue. I'm testing it now.

OK, I've fixed the freezing issue. Turns out there was a glitch where the turn processing engine would execute over and over again infinitely in cases where all players got dropped from the game because of an error that arose during turn processing. I also fixed the one known issue to cause this (the 'Colonize' order).

I'll upload a new build tonight that includes matress' updates. I just have to wait for PNGGauntlet to finish recompressing all his image files to make the download smaller.

Yeah, I just tried that program Mike. I had to give up after it had only done 10 images though. It slowed my computer to a crawl and other programs - especially Internet Explorer - stopped responding.

If I use it in future i'll set it to run overnight or something.

No sense in running it on the stuff you already sent me, as I already ran it myself. It just now finished, and I kicked it off over two hours ago .

Wow!!!

I must say I am impressed. I've been hoping for a BofTII for a long time. Both the planned game play and the pre-alpha test are amazing! Good work.

I have played about 230 turns so far in "SupremacyTest_20071125b" with only a few lag issues probably having more to do with my computer than with programing.

A couple of things I've noticed:
-The Dominion home system is named "Omarion Nebula Nebula"
-There is no shortcut key to advance the turn. (In BotF, "T" was that key.)

Again, Great job to all! Can't wait to try the newest perf. test.

Hey there, Spade_Leader, welcome to the forums!

Thanks for letting us know about that mistake, it's my fault. I named the system "Omarion Nebula" but the game already adds on the Nebula bit - therefore Nebula is shown twice. I'll change that once Mike releases the next update, as the latest updates mean my updates are broken.

...Actually, i've just thought, there a few other races that this is going to affect. I'll update them all as soon as I can.

I didn't know that there was a turn keyboard shortcut in BOTF though. You learn something new every day! Mike can easily add in a new shortcut - in fact, if you can think of any that you'd like, regardless of whether they were in the original game or now, then just let him know.

Welcome to the forums. :)

...

Mike, I was just testing the program. It's lucky I did or I wouldn't have known about the slowdown problem. I'll use it in future though, so you won't need to worry about uber downloads...much... :P

You'll run into problems if you try to colonize any systems. That bug has been fixed in today's release (xxx_20071126.zip). There are still some performance issues that need to be tracked down and eliminated, so your lag issues will hopefully disappear in later releases :).

Ctrl+Enter :). I think it only works from the galaxy screen, though (don't remember for sure).

Problems. :x

When I tried to run "SupremacyTest_20071216," it threw up an "Unhandled Exception" box with error txt below. Any help would be appreciated. :(

P.S.- I have .Net 3.5 and I tried it with Microsoft Server Compact CE 3.5 also.

Are you guys running a 64-bit OS? God I hope it's not another 64-bit compatibility issue...

OK, I think I found the cause... try overwriting the binaries from the 20071216 release with these (keep the rest of the files from 20071216).

I went ahead and applied the patch to the full release and updated the link. 20071216b is the same as 20071216, but with the patch applied.
