I'm glad Interplay are still around purely because of Starfleet Command 2. God I love that game, even if the single player mode is boring. There's nothing like going on intant play mode and randomly bashing a Klingon cruiser every now then. I wish Taldren were still around as well. I like them just for their logo.

another short review for conquest (scroll down to last post): http://www.quartertothree.com/game-talk/showthread.php?t=40370. Strings, got to take a look at that since it criticizes the 3d camera positioning in conquest. might be useful as "how-not-to-do"-information for yourself .

looking thanks for the tip. It seems that game did a lot of things wrong ie. wtf are movement admirals, to me it is a rip off of the Generals in the Total Wars games. If they put that in, they should at least adapt it so it fits within Trek lore. Edit: I see the comment about lack of battlefield visibility. Well I am implementing the original BOTF-style top down view as default, The more close up camera modes will be available later.

Is it 3rd Person-esque or completely free to move around in camera wise? Click on a ship and focus is a nice one aswell.

Hahaha.. omg indeed. brutal review, interesting end. Quote: Whether you put that time and money towards someone's indie strategy title, "Star Trek" episodes, or just giving up on this gaming thing and buying a bus ticket to Des Moines, you will have a better time than if you buy and play Conquest.

yeah I wondered about that one too. could be that someone actually played our game and is a little angry that we cannot ever be reviewed officially as a trek game while conquest for example can (and well either way, I can understand his frustration a little ).

friend of mine bought and tried conquest ... ewwwww
the 3d combat system is identical to the other one he has ... have to look it up(sucks pretty hard core too, also bethesda) ... ah there it is, Encounters. Same combat system. not even modified a little, identical(good job bethesda ... another rank steaming pile for the dump)
The 'admirals' are stupid. and by stupid I mean, so stupid it will make you comatose trying to determine what level of stupidity it is at.
There are 3 admiral types Attack:increases fleet damage Defense:Increases fleet defense Movement:Increases fleet range
original huh??
after two games as federation it became painfully obvious BALANCE was not taken into any equations. Klings can do one thing to win every time. Build scouts. period. end of story. even worse, they followed the botf model for klings, ships are cheap and have heavy firepower.
a fleet of 7 kling scouts(max fleet size) can wipe out a fleet of 7 Galaxy class 'dreadnaught'(yes, the galaxy was classed as a dread, intrepid is a cruiser???) with little to NO loss.
One play through as klings on hardest difficulty resulted in a win. no ships lost.
here is the kicker ... you have 3 ships per race. Scout Cruiser Dreadnaught
Warbird and Galaxy are both dreads ... why i am not sure.
Playable races are Fed, Kling, Rom, Dominion, Cards, and Breen(huh?)
All in all, I give the game a -7 out of 10(would have gotten a 4 if it wasnt Bethesda)

the good thing about this all is that quite likely, this was the last game we've ever seen from that department IMHO . this may mean there's a door for us opening sometime in the future...

I think he means all the trek titles that came from that company since they took the license over.

I would *HOPE* they are not all so poor ... however, I can say that from what I have seen I would not be optimistic about anything they made.

Absolutely amazing games, highly recommended.

Two completely different development teams?
Keep in mind they're also completely different genres.

And I don't think they have any trekkie's on their staff. Plus they misspelled San Francisco in one of the screens, they put it as San Fransisco..
