Woah Matress likes! I was gonna say that maybe Bethesda should employ the guy that made that...but then I thought I wouldn't wish that fate on anyone.
The mines and shuttles were laid out by the big E half way through the battle - they repeat it again later but the Daedalus lures the Planet Killer into it instead. Where exactly those mines came from isn't explained, but Scotty must've thrown them together as part of Kirk's plan. I actually thought the Shuttles and Mines were some sort of station when I first saw them because the camera was too far away to make out what the 'structure' was!
The one thing that I don't understand is how on earth the Enterprise managed to fly through the Guardian of Forever - it was only just big enough for Kirk to walk through in all the images of it that i've seen...
Definitely cool CGI though. THAT'S how Trek should be. Spacebattles are 3D not 2D and ships
should be able to do loops and twists like that! Enterprise, the Dominion War and the
TNG Episode With The Galaxy-X Version Of The Big E Destroying A Klingon Cruiser From Below With Its' 'Phaser Canon' After It Uncloaked are the only times in Trek that I can remember the battle
really seeming to be 3D.
