Anyone know of a good website or have access to various canon sound effects for each of the races, (Dominion, Federation, Cardassian, Klingon and Romulan)?

Especially weapon sound effects.

Seems to be a lack of them about the web these days.

skeeter can sure dig out more resource places to find usable trek sound effects. Otherwise for canon sounds, you'd need to go through certain ds9 episodes to extract sounds from battle scenes yourself. Or you look down at botf with the UE to extract all ship firing sounds. Would be the best alternative. Self-made sound fx that have canon feel won't be found anywhere I guess except maybe with this one: other (non-trek) effects, a rather huge site here: http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/tagsViewSingle.php?id=1126

Essentially ALL!!!!! :)

More importantly i need Beam and Projectile sounds for the Cardassians, Klingons, Romulans, and Dominion.

Canon if possible, i.e Polaron beam sound etc.

Also more then one for each race as it would be nice to have some variety in sounds as you go through the differant era's, i.e TOS, TNG, DS9.

Cheers.

I've just gone through both Armada 1 and SFC2 and got all the useable sound effects for you Wolfe. I've also included the useable sounds from the various websites that Mal linked to during his multiple edits of the post above. Yes Mal, I saw them all. :P

I've renamed all 309 files to better describe what they sound like. They were all in different file types and sound qualities so i've converted them all into high quality .mp3's for convenience. If you need them in a different file type just let me know. I'll upload them to Sharepoint as well. Thanks god for the explorer view coz it'd take aaages to load 309 files individually!

Ultimate Editor is great for that, but sounds aren't really named that well, you kind of have to go dumpster diving to figure out each sound once you extract them.

The latest version of the Ultimate editor contains labels for each of the sound files, so you can tell what they are without having to listen to them nor extract them. Unfortunately, when it does extract the files, they are labelled as just numbers. If you want to name them, you'll have to manually edit all 1363 files. :(

Have a listen to file numbers 0728 to 0733...hehe...

There are 1363 sounds in the the ENGLISH.snd file for combat, diplomacy, and in game voice (which are labeled), while the 170 or so in the sfx.snd file cover sound effects (which aren't labeled, unless I have an old version of Ultimate Editor, I haven't checked the version or downloaded a new version in couple of months).

You could always extract one at time to make sure you get the name down right, but of course this assumes you have the time and inclination to extract themt this way.

I assumed you'd need voices now Wolfe after the 309 sound effect files I sent you. :P

No i needed SFX, mainly the 5 ones you hear when you click on a selected race when you start a game, each being race specific.

The empire intro/race select voices can be found via the ultimate editor in the English.snd file, file numbers 318-322.

I think Wolfe means the race select beeps, not the voices Stegrex. The ones you're after are number 60-64 (Inclusive) Wolfe. I've converted them to .mp3's, renamed them and zipped them for you Here. (69.73kb)
