Great, yet another example of the way that Abrams is butchering everything that we know and love about Trek.

Well the Romulans did look like humans in TOS. So i guess they want to keep it that way, but still want to show the difference. Basicly it's the same with the Klingons. I don't really mind, as long as they have pointy ears. And it doesn't look that way. ah well i will just watch the movie when it's in the movies, without being irritated by these things.

The eyebrow is very long and pointed but there is something going on with the ear as well. It is more the skinhead thug look for the Romulans now. I am thinking they will change personality along with their looks. Here are the dates you can go or not go see the film: official siteWednesday, May 6th 2009 Belgium France Switzerland (French) Thursday May 7th, 2009 Argentina Australia Chile Croatia Czech/Slovakia Germany Greece Israel Lebanon Netherlands New Zealand Peru Portugal Russia Serbia & Montenegro Slovenia South Africa Switzerland (German) Thailand Ukraine Friday May 8th, 2009 Austria Brazil Canada Colombia Cyprus Denmark Finland Hungary Iceland Indonesia Italy Malaysia Mexico Norway Panama Philippines Romania Singapore Spain Sweden Turkey United Kingdom United States Venezuela May 13th - July25th Egypt (13-May-09) India (26-May-09) Hong Kong (28-May-09) Poland (29-May-09) Japan (6-Jun-09) Korea (11-Jun-09) Taiwan (25-Jul-09)

Right or wrong TrekMovie.com listed the poster as "…and the villain Nero (Eric Bana), seems angry about something." He did show up on talk shows with the shaved head after shooting Trek. Interesting if it turns out to be a subset of Rom as you suggest. We will see.

From Trekmovie.com "We asked Alex Kurtzman what was up with Nero’s ears! If you’ve seen the recently released Star Trek poster, you’ve seen Eric Bana, who is allegedly playing a Romulan, with what looks like war paint or a tattoo on his face and NO POINTY EARS. What kind of a Romulan doesn’t have pointy ears? “Nero isn’t necessarily a Romulan,” Kurtzman said, but wouldn’t give anything further than that. He simply smiled and said, “It’s all part of the plot.” " What was that race working with / for the Romulans?

It has been known for Romulan rebelion groups to have tattos, but most don't, because they have to blend in with normal Romulan society, or even infeltrate the government.

If you look at the ear in this image you can see that his point was cut off.

I heard rumours that the Romulans in the film will those that time travel to destory Kirk and the others, only that they alter their look so they can't be recognised as Romulans in TOS and doesn't break canon. Would explain partly Nimoy is involved...

A big dog chewed off one ear tip. JJ says that one image in the trailer is Nero in a Klingon prison. It could have been a big Klingon dog.

It was interesting at least to hear one of the writers of the new Star Trek point out the parallel universe angle. The show involves time travel and messing with the time line. He noted that one explanation for the findings of quantum mechanics is a nearly infinite number of universes being generated form each possible outcome of all events. Things that took place in the time line we have seen so far are all changed when Kirk's parents are killed in the new film.
The writers would have to make this new film with all new actors. Why not a what if things turned out all different time line.
