Nah, I just forgot to deactivate your cloaking device and targeted the nearest other ship, fellow Romulan.

Hello all BOTF2 testers (me now included):
I'm not completely sure if this is a bug (what I am about to tell you) but when I am the Federation in the latest patched supremacy game, and build the ship yard in the Sol system, and then try to build a colony ship after that, and wait a couple turns, the ship is not even starting to build!
Is there something I'm doing wrong here, is this a bug in the game, or do I have to wait longer for the ships to be built on Earth?
Anybody know anything about this?

Tom Anderson Shipyards need 25 energy to run, did you activate it? In production submenu menu of solar system relocate some resources to power plant and then in structures activate the shipyard

There is another annoying bug since the last update: If a building upgrade (e.g. farm) is added to the queue and there is already another upgrade (e.g. intel) in it, then I get an "unexpected error".
I also get one with the autosave. The auto.sav is empty and clicking "Load Game" in the main screen causes the "unexpected error".

Check your resource levels when building ships--it could be that you're short on Dilithium, Deuterium, Personnel, or Raw Materials.

The facility upgrade bug has been fixed in today's update, as has the crash due to dequeuing a build project with a cost of zero (0), and the issue of "% Personnel Training" bonuses not being applied.
Saved games from the last couple versions *should* continue to load after applying this update, but as always, there are no guarantees.

Finally got my account back after all the forum downtimes and changes. I'm glad to be back. And I'm definitely glad for all the updates streaming through (this forum and through Supremacy itself)...and especially the one about Gamespot! LOL. I see components being "constructed" here and there and I can't wait for all of them to come together to form the final game. One quick question. Though it may be premature to be asking this at this stage. Will Supremacy be updated further with more features once the game hits the final build (as in like v1.00)?

I suspect the game will just continue to evolve until all the planned features are completed, and perhaps some additional features. After that, I'll move on to my next project, but I'm sure there will be a few maintenance releases to fix bugs. Then again, there might be enough pressure around here to declare a "gold" release just for the sake of celebration. If so, I may have to print up some "Special Edition" DVDs for select members of the community as a "thanks for your support" gift .

Hey all, just ran across the listing for this game on Gamespot. I've update .NET to 3.5 SP1 Beta, checked that Windows was up to date, then down loaded the game. I unZipped the folder using 7zip, and, not seeing an installer, ran the .exe from that location. The game started up fine, if a little slow. I was still running firefox, so it will likely start faster. After the game start screen was up and I selected "Single Player", the Pop-up for "Update" started. I, wanting to run the newest version, clicked "OK". About half way through the down load I got an error(screen shot and file contents follow). EDIT: Removed image Code: An unspecified error occurred on the render thread.

I'am guessing it died half way through updating. Did you try and start uip again and see if the updater managed to complete. I don't know whether any firewall settings may have an effect on the updater process either i'am afraid.

I have just successfully run the default game through a couple of turns. The one thing I did different was to wait for the updater, instead of clicking on "single player". No software firewall, just the DSL gateway firewall(which has low settings).
So I'm up and running, now. I wonder if the open "single player" window affected things?

Possibly, if the updater was either scanning or updating files, the effect of starting a new game could have caused a conflict. My guess is that MStrobel hasn't put a lock or notification telling the user to wait for the updater to finish before starting a game yet.

Hi SargentWild,
Welcome to the forums! The error you posted is actually rather unusual. It seems the error occurred on the render thread, which suggests that something went wrong in the Direct3D renderer, the DirectX library itself, or your video driver. I would be surprised if you saw that error again.
You should be able to start the update at any point, because it does not depend at all on the current state of the game. All it does is download files in the background, and the changes are not applied until after the game exits. In theory, you should be able to begin an update while a game is in progress, while a game is starting, or at any other time.
Regards, Mike

I think a gold cd/dvd would be a nice touch. I remember not thinking very highly of them, until I got one of my own. So I think the people who helped out a lot would really appreciate it.

I hope this is not a duplicate report, but I did not see a known issue thread, or post.
When I right click and select system, I will get old information for Sol system, from (about) turn 5. I'm playing Federation.
This will occur unless: 1) I have Sol system selected when I right click. 2) I have a member system selected when I right click, and use the drop down menu at the top of the system screen. 3) Use the drop down menu at the top of the system screen to change to another system, then back to Sol sytem.
So any right clicks off of Sol system that go directly to Sol system will generate the problem, with the "drop down" menu providing correct information for Sol system.
________
Awesome work btw, what you have done so far is incredible. If the copy of Gmax at Turbo Squid is any good, I'll see about helping with models and artwork.

I got another error today, this one for memory, looks like:
Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

It's a result of the multiple-upgrade bug, where if a building has multiple upgrades, ALL of them are always shown as available, regardless of any other restrictions. That's why I sent you my data files two weeks ago for you to check for problems. If you can't fix this bug, there's a very simple solution - just add in a Cardassian Subspace Scanner and remove the multiple upgrades from the other structures. ...I didn't know that the Cardassian Listening Post was a part of the original files though. My own files are so modded compared to everyone elses now i'm not sure what si original and what is updated. By the way, i'm not sure if you got my message Mike, but after some experimentation I found that your "MyMod" solution does not work afterall, although you might have updated that during the last few days. ... Welcome back to the forums, SeaBee-T! I remember you!

That's not entirely accurate--all restrictions were checked except the presence of the upgrade target in the player's tech tree . The bug has been fixed. However, the Listening Post upgrade doesn't show up anymore, because it's not in the Federation or Default tech trees. Matress, please update your game data as follows so that I don't have to merge my changes with yours when you send them to me: - Set 'Subspace Scanner', 'Listening Post', and 'Isolinear Scanner' to be buildable by all civilizations.
- Add 'Listening Post' to the list of items obsoleted by the 'Cardassian Listening Post'.
- Add 'Isolinear Scanner' to the list of items obsoleted by the 'Cardassian Isolinear Scanner'.
