This is a list of all the structures that are still missing images in Supremacy. The list is considerably larger than I was expecting so any help anyone can give us with making images would be much appreciated. I'll continue to add to this list over the next few days as I record which buildings need images while I continue to update Supremacy.

Image Rules
Any user that submits an image must follow these rules.

1. All submitted images must be your own work or acquired by ligitimate means with express permission from the creator/owner of said image. Images cannot therefore be taken from eg. a Google search and submitted as your own, nor can they be taken from other games or media. Users that are found to have plagiarised work will have all of their submitted files removed and their account temporarily suspended while we investigate. Plagiarism and outright theft of another persons work will not be tolerated, so don't even try. Theft is a crime.

Note: We are currently using a small number of images that were taken from BOTF. These are stopgap images that we have always explicitly stated that we WILL be replaced in the future, so they are not special cases.

2. Images should be saved in the .png format where possible. .jpg's and .gif's are also acceptable, but .png's produce a much higher quality image. We always prefer image quality over filesize, but if you submit a .png image, please use compression software such as PNGGauntlet to reduce the final filesize of the image. Supremacy is also capable of handling transparencies so you may also make use of this feature.

3. Images should be a minimum of 270 pixels wide by 225 pixels high; we will accept larger images but they must have the same aspect ratio (Ie. the width-height ratio is 1.2 : 1). Images that are smaller than 270x225 will be automatically scaled up by the game, but this will cause a loss in quality, so we will not accept smaller images.


Missing Images
This is the full list of structures that are still in need of images. I've provided brief descriptions of the structures to help artists create the images that we need, but these are just a guide; feel free to interpret the structures however you want. Our main goals are quality and variety.

Akritirian Open Sky Movement
A democracy-promoting organisation, boosting system morale and faith.

Aldean Custodian
An ancient and poorly-maintained planetary computer that is located in a cavern deep underground.

Arkarian Black Market
A black market that deals with dangerous and exotic forms of power, radiation, and weapons.

Arkarian Remmler Array
An orbital shipyard and radiation-removing scanner. It looks like a cross between a shipyard and a telescope/scanner.
An image is available but it is a screenshot and needs to be replaced for legal reasons.

Axanar Shipyard
A large and advanced orbital fleetyard facility.
An image is available but it is low-quality and needs to be replaced.

Bajoran Agricultural Ministry
Government facility that combines soil reclamation and genetic engineering to boost crop yields.

Bajoran Jalanda Forum
Bajoran place of festival, celebration, and democratic concourse. (Think along the lines of the UN, but cross it with a Roman Amphitheatre)
An image is available but it is low-quality and needs to be replaced.

Bandi Geothermal Generator
A power-producing structure based on tapping geothermal energy. The planet is a Desert planet with a dusty atmosphere.

Barkonian Industrial Forge
Massive forges to bring the system into the industrial age.
An image is available but it is low-quality and needs to be replaced.

Barzan Wormhole
A project to explore the (unstable) Barzan Wormhole.
An image is available but it is low-quality and needs to be replaced.

Cairn Diplomatic Scholars
A training place for diplomats and politicians.
The existing image is a placeholder. We no longer have permission to use it.

Cardassian Isolinear Scanner
An advanced, space-based Cardassian sensor array for the detection of enemy fleet movements.

Cardassian Listening Post
A moderately advanced, space-based sensor array for the detection of enemy fleet movements.

Cardassian Medic Stations
We have an image, but it's currently being used for other, but similar, structures.

Cardassian Subspace Scanner
A basic, space-based sensor array for the detection of enemy fleet movements.

Coridan Shipyard
An orbital fleetyard above a class M planet.
An image is available but it is low-quality and needs to be replaced.

Coridan Stellar-Propulsions Laboratory
An advanced propulsion lab at the forefront of developing new faster-than-light propulsion methods.

Coridan Dilithium Cracking Station
A Dilithium preparation facility. Visually it looks like a chemical plant with vast amounts of pipework.
An image is available but it is a screenshot and needs to be replaced for legal reasons.

Dominion Advanced Replicator
A basic domestic replicator.
We need an image to replace the existing BOTF one.

Dominion Provisions Station
An advanced domestic replicator.
We need an image to replace the existing BOTF one.

Drai Tosk Breeding Ground
Breeding, hatching, and training ground for Tosk, boosting ground combat.

Drai Tosk High Command HQ
A starship crew training facility.

Drai Tactical Division
An elite, anti-invasion commando squad.

Eblarian Hierarchy
The government buildings of the Eblarian people. Provides many bonuses and as such is a very expensive structure to build - so it should look like a massive complex of buildings, not just a single structure.

Eblarian Surveillance Grid
A system-wide network of surveillance devices for maintaining system defence.

Edo Palace of Edo
A luxury palace of pleasure, boosting morale empire-wide.
We need an image to replace the existing BOTF one.

El-Aurian Gatherers
A spy network and training facility.

Federation Geosurvey Commission Branch
A geological survey centre to increase raw material output.

Federation Rehab Colony
A criminal rehabilitation facility.
An image is available but it is low-quality and needs to be replaced.

Federation Replicators
The first true food replicators. (Enterprise-B era in design, with a blue and green, rather than LCARS, interface.
We need an image to replace the existing BOTF one.

Ferengi Commerce Authority
Training facility for Ferengi Economic spies.
We need an image to replace the existing BOTF one.

Ferengi Franchise Office
An office building that monitors and boosts system trade.
We need an image to replace the existing BOTF one.

Ferengi Tower of Commerce
A skyscraper where all Ferengi trade operations are managed. Massively boosts trade income.
We need an image to replace the existing BOTF one.

Ferengi Gaming Commission
Entertainment, refreshment, and gambling venues.
We need an image to replace the existing BOTF one.

Finnean Dataport Network
Small computer devices connected in a network.

Gorn Hegemony
The Gorn internal affairs and legal authority buildings. The Gorn evolved on a Desert planet and are a race of lizards, so the structure should ideally reflect this.

Grade 1-4 Fabricators
Early industrial facilities. The image will be re-used for all upgrades of this facility.
We need an image to replace the existing BOTF one.

Grade 1-4 Machining Plant
Early industrial facilities. The image will be re-used for all upgrades of this facility.
This image is in the process of being made.

Heavy Foundry
Moderately advanced Industrial facilities.

Horta Ore Extraction Plant
A mining facility that uses Horta to extract the desired minerals.

Idanian Intelligence
Buildings that house a secretive intelligence service.

Kessprytt Defence Ministry
Internal security governmental buildings.

Klingon Defence Station
An underground bunker populated and defended by Klingon warriors.

Klingon Feasting Day
Klingon morale event. A day of feasting and bloodwine!

Klingon Forced Labour Foundry
Just as it says on the tin, a forced-labour foundry.

Klingon Imperial News Network
Klingon news service.

Klingon Intelligence
Klingon equivalent of Starfleet Security. A large, foreboding, building for the interrogation and execution of the enemies of the Klingon Empire.

Klingon Orbital Attack Grid
An advanced network of Orbital Weapon Platforms. Think of a planetary superweapon then x100 and point it at space instead of at a planet. It's the ultimate Klingon weapon system!

Klingon Private Ranches
Small, private cattle ranches. The Klingon equivalent of private farms - and they raise Targ, not cows!

Klingon The High Council
The Imperial Klingon Government buildings, surrounded by a large city.

Klingon Trading Company
An organisation that oversees all aspects of trade activity within the Klingon Empire.

Klingon War Room
The very centre of the Klingon war machine, the War Room is where all war efforts are planned and overseen.

Kradin Armed Forces
Planetary defense troops.

Malcorian Geo-Studies Centre
A research centre for Geological studies.
An image is available but it is low-quality and needs to be replaced.

Malurian Mining Syndicate
An organisation that mines and distributes raw materials.

Meridian Planetary Research Station
Research base
An image is available but it is low-quality and needs to be replaced.

Minor Race Advanced Gravitron Shield
An advanced planetary shield. Could use a generic shield image for the minor race shields or reuse the image but change the colour of the shield effect.
We need an image to replace the existing colour-altered BOTF planetary shield one.

Minor Race Basic Shelters
Basic planetary defense bunkers.

Minor Race Civilian Reserve
Civilian combat troops trained in guerilla warfare to harass invading forces.

Minor Race Gravitron Shield
An advanced planetary shield. Could use a generic shield image for the minor race shields or reuse the image but change the colour of the shield effect.

Minor Race Heavy Bunkers
Advanced planetary defense bunkers.

Peace envoys and statues, massively boosting system morale.

Orion Institute of Cosmology
Cosmological research center.

Oppressive legal courts that put criminals into forced labour as punishment.

The most basic Klingon research structure. Serves as a gathering place for learned Klingon Yej'an. Upgrades to Type 1 Working Party.

The orbital batteries and shipyard images can come out of Sharepoint / Image Library / Ships and Stations / Subfolders / 270 x255.png images. Did we recently add a minor race shipyard to the minor race list? 8O

I think MOE should have the title of Life Support System. I take him for granted but would soon be dead without him.

I added in the minor race shipyards myself - they're going to need one afterall Kenneth if they're gonna build ships. :P

I didn't give them a fleetyard though, didn't seem any point as not even the Vulcans have tech 11 ships. I've set the minor races so that the best shipyard they can build corresponds with the level of the most advanced ship they can build, so it they can only build scouts, they won't be able to upgrade their shipyard to a medium yard and so on. It's an easy enough job (But tedious) if people want to change this though.

The images that i've got for the minor races is just the original minor race shipyard image from BOTF. I butchered it a bit in Micro$oft Paint so it looked like the medium and large yards actually were larger upgrades. :P

The minor races actually have several special structures of their own that the Empires can't build, although that's usually coz the Empires have their own versions or a better version with more bonuses (And a larger cost). Don't worry Kenneth, you won't need to model any of those structures, but it'll mean that fighting and subjugating the minors wil be much more difficult this time round. :)

Life Support System eh? That must be the first rank that is part of a ship, rather than part of the crew. I'm surprised you don't realise i'm actually alive. :lol:

Assigning a shipyard model to the minors is no problem. So we need these structures or just the images?

It's up to you whether you make models for the minor race shipyards. ALL of the minors share the same shipyard, so it should be generic in design if you do make one.

...

Didn't you ever wonder what the generic defense section of Dafedz's Database meant? The minors have got some new special defense structures that will make invasion and subjugation more difficult. Since they're not stations etc though, they won't need 3D models.

OK, when we decide if there is an orbital planet assault in the 3D game we could then put in other things like that fighter (attach ship) squadron for the minors. More on that later... :borg:

I've currently set "Fighter Squadrons" as a structure, like an Aircraft Hangar are something. If you want to make fighter models and if Wolfe's combat system can handle it, then by all means go right ahead. :)

The fast and dirty would be put a few fighters in a rigid formation and save it as one .3DS model file. It would play like one ship, turn like a lawn mower and be easy to build from a generic attach ship (fighter) we already have. :borg:

A nice fight in orbit, big planet in the background, would look hot and be a big improvement over BOTF 1. :winkthumb:

I dunno if ground combat should be turned into a RTS of it's own. Things should be kept as simple as possible while mimicking reality to a acceptable level.

Ground combat the way MOO3 did it is more then enough - in fact quite more than enough.

I agree. Coming up to but not on a planet to assault the orbital batteries, Starbase and yards in the 3D engine would be more than enough for our game. :borg:

It ain't a structure, but is the current supremacy wormhole picture not from good old botf?

I found two others over at trekmeshes.ch where one of them (the "whiter" one) is from Hathaway which granted us free use of all his pictures. The other is from jörg gerlach and downloadable as 3d model there (could be nice addition to battle engine?).

Hathaway allowed us to use his images? Oh wow, i'm familiar with his work. He's a fantastic artist. That's really good news if he's allowed us to use his stuff.

...Wormholes haven't been implemented in the game yet, so the image isn't even in the map icons folder. When Mike is ready to implement them, i'll make sure he knows about your post, Mal. Dafedz's image in the database is just there as a possibility - we don't even know if it will be possible to have Wormholes in systems yet.

I think we'll have to leave it to Mike to implement images like this; the map images are animated and I haven't got a clue how to animate something complex like that. I can't even get the transparencies to work. It came out so bad i'm not gonna even show it!

...Unfortunately it doesn't scale to 270x225 very well. Anyone know how to remedy that?

Thanks Iwulff. How did you manage to do that without cutting out any of the image? When I resized it in irfanview I ended up with the moon looking like an oval. :(

he cut out the right part of the image. you see that in the bottom right corner in particular.

For God sake why are you cutting image? This image is max scene i can render it in any resolution i wish... this image was only example!

now that you say, it looked familiar ;).

can you do two 200x150 shots too? I think the design is not really trek canon so we could reuse it for our own content.

How did you manage to turn Mars green without making the ice cap green as well? :?

The Klingon station has only been used in Armada from what I know, so you should be safe from Paramount. I'm not sure about Activision though, Mal. A smaller image should make things a bit more ambiguous though. :thumbsup:

Thanks for those Zeleni, they're excellent images. I've added them to my folder as rom_fast_response_plasma_net.png and kling_orbital_attack_grid.png.

If Irfanview can't handle stuff like this what do you suggest I use? Irfanview is free, easy to use, free, and easy to use. Oh, and did I say it was free? :lol:

@matress- rehuing is really easy, just open your paint.net go to ADJUSTMENTS then click on HUE/ SATURNATION and play around with HUE bar :wink: (similar thing in Irfan)
