While working on a restoration of the Federation above I have not seen a copy of the Fleetyard mesh you made. If you have that saved some place please send me a copy.

Pics look cool, glad they aren't all lost from the great share point crash. As a side question, isn't the Surveyor III a pic of an Achilles (non-canon) class ship, not a Nova class? Can't wait to see the pics in the game.

Kenneth, Stegrex is right about the Nova. The image you've got there is definitely the non-canon Achilles class - but it's a design that I love.

The image for the Conestoga is wrong as well. The Conestoga *should* look like This.

I have meshes of Nova and Conestoga and they will be included in IMAGE MOD for Supremacy. For now, all Federation, Klingon, Cardassian and Dominion images are 90% filled. You'll see, they look awesome.

You are both correct and I agree. Those will be on my short list of models to fix in version one.

I have not yet found better examples for those ships. My plan is to fill up the list with the models we already have. That way we can start play testing with version one.

When we have a game with the 3D combat engine working it may attract more model builders to the project. Version two will not be so offensive. It could take a month to build one replacement model from the ground up. I want people playing while I go back and fix the OMG versions of individual models.


@ Zeleni: I emailed an attachment to you for the Fed OB. Let me try again with a file share when I get home tonight. The meshes you have will also come in handy for me. Even an untextured mesh could be played and I will move the current Colony Ship I over to the missing Transport II.

Conestoga is without textures for now

That image looks a lot cleaner than some of the images above, Zeleni. Could you possibly give the same treatment to the rest of the images?

Matress- When time comes i will make new renders for all models, my images look cleaner cause i use 3d studio max which is better for renders then Ken's Ultimate Unwrap.

That sounds good to me. I will, however, continue to put up 270x25.png images because we need them to keep tack of the status of the fleets.

@ Zeleni: The 270x225.png images will be in the .rar for each model when Sharepoint comes back. You can just save over that file when you make the new png with 3D Max.

Do not waste too much time on the Federation OB. That downloaded model is not that good to start with. In combat they will be too small to see detail and by version two I will replace it with something with a similar outline.

Oh yes, please do. I remember that you were working on a nice Saber. The Saber above is on the short list of download models to be replaced.

Having these images is helping us sort things out. Please send me the models as you finish so I can back them up and load images here.

I am a bit confused about the class designations. The Galaxy and Ambassador are all rounders while the Sovereign edges more towards battleship. The Intrepid is more like a Heavy or Advanced Scout. While the Nebula is in most cases a Research/Science vessel.

The designations of the ships are from Dafedz's Database Iwulff; Kenneth hasn't arbitrarily been assigning the designations. Dafedz compiled a list for us of ships for us and over the course of several months, we argued over them until we came up with the current shiplist. It might sound a litle strange in respect to the individual classes that you mention, but it balances the overall design of the ships against the ships of the other empires, whilst still allowing for considerable leeway in the abilities of the individual ships.

For example, the Federation Explorers are the equivalent of Battleships, but they are actually the most well-rounded ships in the game - they are capable of towing stranded ships, they are highly advanced Science vessels, have high planetary evacuation capacities, have good medical facilities, and make good scouting platforms. All that, plus they are the most powerful ships in the fleet. Of course, that comes at the expense of very low fuel efficiencies and huge build costs compared to the designs of the other races. The Battleships of the other races can't necessarily do all those things though, or can do them but not quite as well.

The Federation therefore can field small fleets comprised of relatively few designs (Even though they actually have the greatest number of designs). The other races need to field a much larger range of ship classes in order to have a balanced fleet, but conversely they can afford to do so because their ships are so much cheaper to build and maintain.

You can find the full ship stats Here but they have obviously only been balanced on paper so far and not in the combat system yet as that is not yet complete.

Ye i have seen his db, was some time ago, though. Even so, Explorer class names, suggest that they are fast with a lot of range, so i was a bit confused. I will probably change it to Starship or something.

To see any update of older images you will need to delete your temp files. (Tool / Internet Options / Delete Files ..... depending on IE and your version of it)

I just follow the ship list. Version One is based on the list as is. Any changes will wait for Version Two.

Just FYI, methinks I spotted some mistakes.

1. Medical frigate images switched. Olymipic is the upper image IIRC.

2. Image of the Achilles insted of the Nova

3. Stabase I and II switched.



EDIT: anytone here think it might be a good idea to have the Galaxy class upgrade...either to the Venture re-fit (around tech 10) or maybe even the Galaxy-X (tech 12)?

EDIT: I also think that hull of all ships needs a big boot. Shields could use a small boost too. Ships should be able to survive at least a little without shields (so they can at least attempt to retreat).

Thanks for the corrections:
1) I may wait to move the hospital ships round until I am ready to redo the nassels though. They do not yet match the time frame they are intended for.

2) I am waiting for Zeleni to finish the real Nova. The Achilles is just a place holder for now.

3) I have not tried to carry the scaling over to the 270x225.png images but at least within class that is a very good idea. Putting the models side by side the Starbase I above is smaller than the Starbase II. Given the images here you might think it was the other way around. Zeleni will be redoing the images using 3D Max. That is an important feature to apply.

SO? Just re-scale the starbase then..besides, size isn't everything. The upper one just look more modern, not to mention that it's the premier fed starbase during TNG.
