@SJ290- one suggestion only, beside federation's, try to include other empires ships too, otherwise looks good!

@SJ: You're doing one heck of a good job! Keep them coming! I can't wait to see these images in-game.

Awesome work, I really like the vibrancy and simplicity of each pic, they are easy enough to interpret but very eye-catching aswell.
good work.

seconded.
the unstable wormhole pic could use some smoothing though. light and shadow are too hard there for my taste.

Wormehole Discovered: [/quote] The work is outstanding. We are lucky to have you on the team. It might be kind of odd though to show a Klingon ship if you are playing other races.

The only way to avoid oddity would be to have separate images for each of the Empires...if it can be done and Sj doesn't mind, i'm all for it. Mike hasn't programmed the randoms yet anyways, so it's not like he would need to reprogram the game to accept multiple images...

It wouldn't be hard to make an image for each race, Not all of the images have ships. We will have to see what Mike says. I think i will redo the unstable wormhole pic though. I don't like it. It needs work. I will keep going and make more pics as long as you want me to.

Well i just redid the unstable wormhole pic. I like it a little better now. I put the next 5 up when I have them. I will use federation ship as a default for now if i feel the need for a ship in a pic. It can be changed at anytime if need be.

Nexus Supernova Asteroid Strike Comet Strike Solar Wind Change I think that I'm going to redo the comet and asteroid strike pics. I don't feel comfortable with them, Any thoughts?

they seem both too small. That might come from the relatively large red fire areas on the asteroid strike pic and the visible too near grain on the ground. Both should either be smaller to look more distant or more zoomed in in general.
The comet looks too small either to make a big impact on the ground worth mentioning. Maybe clouds should form around the impact zone.

I like the Comet one more than the Asteroid one, although the Asteroid should definitely be smaller as it is intended to do less overall damage. It might also help if when you make the Comet one bigger, you change the colour. Comets are meant to be massive balls of ice and dust. A dirty great snowball is the sort of thing it would look like, although whether an impending snowball impact on a planet would look fearsome or not, i'm not sure. I did a google and found some images with different impact styles that might help you. Hopefully they won't give you nightmares about our impending doom.

Ooh excellent eyecandy as always, Sj! I especially like the Polar Shift and Climate change ones. Could you possibly make a Climate Change one that was hot instead of icy? We could use them both then. We've already asked for images with each of the different Empires ships so why not?

If that is part of the Grand Canyon system it is only a very very small side canyon off of the real deal. There are a lot of canyons that look like that out here. But he does have a point. There may be a better way to show earthquake in a still image.
You could show some buildings falling down. The other thing I have seen is a fisher that shows lateral movement in the crust plates. I have seen where a road shifts so it no longer line up as the crack crosses the pavement. The canyon you show is one formed over a long time period by water erosion. Show more later displacement for a large quake. Show me filling my pants and you will have the full experience.
Your work is damn good. I am inspired by it.

Dust, collapsing buildings, crumbling rocks, or falling vegetation would certainly improve on the image, but it's great as it is already. The dust would certainly help to give a sense of movement though. At the moment, there is no real sense of movement; it looks more like a slightly off-focus photo in that respect. Still, photo-realism is something to be proud of.

yea the earthquake one isn't that great. I couldn't think of how i wanted to make it look. Good eyes too because I do believe it was the grand canyon. So my remake was something on a larger scale. If your going to have an earthquake big enough to damage the entire system you just cant show one little spot. Thus my attempt to show planetary upheaval and destruction: What do you think? Better than the other one? And here's the climate change pic for arctic to volcanic: Its been a busy day for me so I wasn't able to turn many pics out today. I'm just now starting to realize how many pics are going to be needed. It'll be worth it when I see them in the game though. Speaking of that how long will it be before random event are to be implemented in the game? Just out of curiosity.

Personally I like the first climate shift better. If there are 20 people here you will get 23 opinions. Show us what have. We will talk and then you decide.

First mstrobel wants to complete the colony build-up AI and probably some more AI stuff to make single-player playable. Then I think there might be time for implementing random events a little earlier than the roadmap says.
