Those look great, I hope they can be used! I know that there are already quite a few Federation ship out there, so i am looking forwards to those Klingons ships.

And i've just added another 15 more ships lol.

Awesome job on them, what format are they in by the way Fireball?

Also by chance do you have access to a decent, plain star field 'Sky Box' set of images i could use perchance.

Regards Wolfe

Which size? 2048x2048 is enough or you wish bigger? And colours? (black and white with yellow gases or something like that) :)

Oh wow, you've been working hard on your models since the last batch of images that you sent me Fireball!

...Do you still have the uber-oberth by the way? And the Connie? And the Constellation? Those models would be sweet additions to the model database if we could have them.

I'm liking the Cheetah - it's like an early Constellation, although I can ceertainly see the differences. The angled head-on shot directly in front of the vessel is the best action view of the ship, just as it is with the Constellation.

The Triconderoga is nice too. I've read about another ship called the "Tricondera" and i'm wondering if this is perhaps the same one with a typo. Anyways, this design is like an old, twisted version of the Intrepid. It's definitely a solid Federation design, but is still unusual. The only thing that looks truly strange about it though is the Nacelle pylons - they look backward. That's not a criticism of your model though, just a criticism of the design. The designers must've been having fun with that one. Actually, now that I think about it, it's like a counterpart to the Romulan Ael'Hatham class that they used to have on battleclinic. I think I posted images of it on these forums a few years ago. It was like a D'Deridex but the Nacelles were above and below instead of to the side.

Anyways, I look forward to your Klingon designs :)

Close but you need to take into consideration that witht he skybox i need to either be given 6 images representing each side of a cube or i have to cut it into pieces to create one.

Image

The problem was that cutting it into peices drastically reduced resolution, what i think would be best, as i noticed how it was done with the battlestations game was to use a similar texture to the one above but only as a small band the runs across the middle of the space scene while the rest is just normal black empty space with some stars thrown in.

This way you cut down any problems when you reach a corner of where two sides meet.

Here is the one from battlestations, i think it was used as an overlay over another one which was just a simple star field

Thanks for the comments everyone!
MOE, the Constellation, Oberth and Constitution are now obsolete by my new standards
Thus they are going to get redone....(again)

As for the skybox, i've never made one myself, I plan on exploring that option though.
I do believe I can help though, Armada II uses the battlestations engine and the exact same layout as you pictured (i've read a couple of tutorials on how, i've just never made a starfield before).
I reccomend you take a look at Armada2files and find the midnight universe mod, it has some GREAT backgrounds.

Now...for my Klingon Friends...

First off, the Klingon Construction Ship.
Armed with some defensive distruptors and holds 4 construction bee's.
Image
Image

Next is the D2 Class from the Starfleet Museum. 2 Missile launchers and 2 distruptors, all forward facing.
Image
Image

The asthetically simular D3, but the D3 uses a different reactor creating quicker fire-rates and better shields.
Image

Next is the trusty (and armed) freighter. This thing is quite a fun design for me, could have easily been turned into a destroyer.
Image
Image

Next to compliment the freighter, a mining station! Those opaque things on the top are supposed to be windows (and will be one day  ).
This thing is pretty well armed, not a raid you want to make if you're a mere scout ship.
Image

Next is a Klingon Monitering (Sensor) station. Unarmed for once...
Image

Next is the unarmed Shipyard/Repairyard (Construction on top, repair on the bottom).
Image
Image

Next is the Incredible D6 Strike Cruiser... Torpedoes and distruptors! This ship is basically designed for quick border crossing strikes. From SF Museum.
Image
Image
Image

Now is the T-8 Assault transport from FASA.
Image
Image

The Assault Shuttle belonging to the T-8, has commando teams onboard for boarding enemy vessels.
Image
Image

T-9 derived from te T-, I use it as a colony ship.
Image

A Heavily armed Klingon Starbase. Armed with multiple distruptors and photon torpedo tubes. Also has the ability to construct support ships.
This was a nightmare to texture, just count all the windows, I dare you  .....did I mention it's huge?
Image
Image
Image

Also from Starfleet Museum, the D4 Dreadanaught.
Very fun ship to make. Armed with 2 missiles, 2 distruptors and a hefty plasma cannon, all forward facing.
This ship is huge!
Image
Image
Image
Image

Phew, thats done now lol...enjoy everyone.

Oh and the format for all of these is 3ds max (origionally where I created them). Some of them are also in SOD format for Armada II

Ah the T-8 Transport...I helped you make that one.

These are all fantastic models, Dafedz. Whilst some of them might not make it into the game with their current designations, (We don't have any mining stations for instance, but it's not a concept that has been mentioned before; all the races could potentially have one for Dilithium/Raw material extraction) we will definitely try to squeeze them in where we can. Models of this quality are rare and hard to come by!

...

Wolfe, why does a skybox have to be a...box? Wouldn't a Sphere avoid the problems of joins? I've never seen any joins in the skyboxes of games like Starfleet Command or Sins of a Solar Empire - they must have done something to disguise it. Sins especially has very bright backgrounds that would make joins obvious, but their skyboxes look fantastic.

nice klingon models....but aren't they a bit...uummmm....chubby? Mayhaps they should be scaled down a bit on the z axis?

And yea, spherical skybox all the way..way better.

Isn't is possible to make a sphere, with something like that a background? And then having the entire scene inside this sphere? Or isn't this possible, i'm not a expert with 3d stuff.

Ye some are a bit chubby, but i like most of them. However the coloring on those textures isn't really Klingon, isn't it? More brown and red and stuff like that.

Nice models Fireball,

I had a look at the midnight universe MOD, some really great textures, however i'am unsure if they will allow me to use them.

Keep up the good work though.

Box background counts 6 polys while spherical few hundreds or thousands to look smooth or i think so.

It Wasn't so much the number of polys but rather the textures used which ment near the poles it looked incredibly bad. If you have access to some decent spherical sky boxes then i'll have a look.

Thanks for the comments.
As for chubby...well I guess it depends what designs your talking about. I see the D2, D3, Freighter and Constructionship as chubby lol.
Umm ass for the paint job, i'm going with TOS colour schemes with my TOS Klingon ships.
The origional D7 actually used the same paint colour as the Enterprise, but i've obviously differentiated a bit, plus I add a few light green panels here and there on some of the models.
As I shift over to TMP slowly you'll notice colours going towards the traditional Klingon panels we're used to.

Preview of the Daedalus, close to 4000 polygons, didn't want to compromise on detail that no texture could do (the cylindrical 'lumps').
I feel they really add a depth to the design and that the design wouldn't look that good without it.

Just curious, but is the Daedalus even a 'canon' ship?

@ Wolfe/ i can give you excellent spherical planet texture, it's not space but it will do for testing purpose

I don't know of the Daedalus being in any of the episodes or films, so in that respect it isn't canon. But it was widely regarded as being the ship that saved the Federation and ended the Romulan war. It was much faster and more maneuverable than its' counterpart Romulan ships of the time, even though its weapons were considerably less powerful. The Daedaluses were able to take the war to the Romulans backyard before the main battlefleets could get close to Earth and Vulcan. The Romulan fleet was obliterated and they went into hiding until Kirk re-established contact a century later.

...Of course, things changed a bit thanks to Enterprise. God knows how it fits in now lol.

I believe it may have been on Sisko's desk or room once..I can't recall if it's for sure though.
It was also mentioned in an episode of TNG.

Here is where i'm at now anyway, I just seem to by flying through this thing..

I'm a bit further now. Thought I was done and ready to start designing some hull plating until I found that the entire 'saucer' is misaligned (texture wise).
I tried to salvage it but theres too many problems in too many places so i'm going to have to remake the 'dome' texture from scratch. Unfortuantley that was the longest/ most difficult part of the ship lol.

Here is the ship anyway. I did some stuff with the windows that I normally don't do, figured i'd give it a try (putting a picture of an interior behind them sorta) You can't make out the interiors (heck i'd need a 4096x4096 resolution for you to do so  ) but I guess it adds a little realism, I could delete that layer in a second anyway.

Here is how it is without panels and the messed up 'dome' lol.

Still not 100% satisfied with the deflector, but it looks a lot better. Meh, I can tweak it later if it's needed.

Well, you know me.

I'm re-doing the Galaxy and Galaxy-X as well as making the texture for the light romulan destroyer

Tweaking the textures a tad and giving the saucer and neck more polies. the neck irritates me..Can't get it to look just right...grrrr.

Amazing fireball  You make that ship look so good.

I was wondering if you could send me that model? I am starting development again on the combat engine, but I want to try out a few techniques first, and those long nacelles are just what I need ;D

Great stuff TrashMan! Loving the Sabre.

Thanks Strings, what format suits you? (Give me a a day or so to re-work the "saucer/dome" to clean it up though, i'm a nitpicker, thanks to people who noticed it  )

If you can export to .fbx, that would be great. If not, .3ds is good too :)

Sure, take your time, art can't be rushed :P besides, I'm still getting the computer ready.

Thanks

It looks great. I am back home and ready to work on the Klingon fleet version one end game.
You can send me those models when you have the time.
We are using .3ds for now in the library.
