I have a ship yard and an attack ship squadron for planitary defense.
These will be common resources for the minor races.
Are there any other communal recourses the minor races will need?
An outpost?

None of the minor races can currently build outposts, but I don't see why they shouldn't be able to do so. Some of them can expand afterall. I'll discuss it with Dafedz and see what he says.

*IF* we decide to have minor race outposts, then the races that are mostly likely to get one are;

Those who are already known to have stations of some kind in the various series or films, or;
Those with an expansion ration of 3, or;
Those races where it would be strange for them not to have a base of some kind.

If a race fits into one or more of these categories, then they will get a station of some kind. This will obviously include the Vulcans for a start. Is this ok with our modellers though?

For version one it will be easy enough to assign one model for all minor race outposts.

While building the fleets of version one I do not have the time to give each expanding race a unique model.

We are going to use one oupost model for all expandable races imo.

That's ok then. Just make sure it's one hell of a model. :P

If it is going to be a generic model, remember not to put any distinctive hull markings etc on it, unless it is an easy/automated process to add eg. the race emblems to that model. People will only complain about the wrong emblem/features being on the model otherwise.

This should do for now. (Some will point out it had been Romulan before
the green color was sucked out. We can look for something else in
version two if someone gets upset.)

Cool,

One thing that needs to be decided on is whether these ships are Pulse weapons only, Mixed Beam and Pulse or just Beam. For example the Warbird has both while i think the Valdore just has pulses.

Ooh it's great to finally see the C-Type Warbird in the flesh, especially since i'm the one that suggested adding the design to the shiplist in the first place. Good old battleclinic for coming up with the original design. :mrgreen:

Great model as always Trashman. I assure you i'll make sure her plasma torpedoes will be well used in future. :twisted:

...

That's actually something that I mentioned to Mike a while ago, although i'm not sure whether he's remembered about it. Before we decide, we need the ability to actually select which weapons the ships can have. At the moment, the Supremacy editor only allows you to select two types of weapon per ship - Beam/Pulse or Missile/Torpedo. You therefore can't have a ship that has Beams AND Pulses, or a ship that has a mixture of three or all four types. This means we can't for instance give the Defiant its' correct weapons (4x Pulse Phasers, 3x Phaser Array, 1x Quantum Torpedo), and i'm sure there will be other ships with similar problems, especially the Klingon and Romulan designs. There is also currently no way to select the look of the weapon, such as its' colour etc.

If we decide that it's going to be possible for ships to have such weapon combinations, both the combat system and the game/editor will need to be able to support it, so i'll give Mike and nudge about this issue.

C-Type warbird? :-

You mean there's a trek ships that already looks like this?
I dunno, I just sat at my PC and made the thing (I think it's supposed to be a heavy destroyer or a cruiser or something. Something medium.)

Ya know, we should really decide what model should be used for what - because of scale. Methinks the D'Bora (the other textured romulan ship I made) should be a destroyer of some kind since it looks smaller than this one.
And then we have the beheemoth of the battleship thing. I envisioned it to be at least as big a Warbird :P

Doesn't this ship have three wings on it? The image is a bit small to see, but the C-Class Warbird had three wings, and I originally saw the design on Battleclinic. If that isn't the ship you modelled it on, then I apologise for the mistake. :ahem:

As for putting the ships in place, Kenneth is sorting that out. The shiplist has been sorted by Dafedz, and Kenneth is arranging the models into that shiplist as they are submitted by you and the other modellers. If you have suggestions for where your designs should be, have a look at Dafedz's Database and have a word with Kenneth.

Yes, that is the one i'm on about, but they look the same to me. They both have three wings, two sticky-out bits at the back, thin multi-section necks, flattened and elongated bridge modules... :?

I have several version of that battleship.

This is the one I'm UV mapping ATM:

I'll probably make some tweaks to it - neck is longer than that version, it has 4 aditional nacelles on the top and bottom..and it doesn't have that indent on the head (have to add that one).

This all looks good to me. :bigthumb:

Version I of the models is what I first posted up to fill all the ships and stations needed for the major powers.

Now we are working on Version II of the list thanks to Trashman. Keep up the great work. Check over the list of Romulan ships on that link or this one, http://www.botf2.star-trek-games.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2424&start=0, and let me know where you would like all these ships to go. :borg:

Hm...frankly I'm undeecided now.

The version on the upper image seems...fatter..and bigger. I think I'll tweak my current version to resemble that one more.

Depending on whether there are enough ship slots, you could even think about going the other way, Trashman. You could have a go at making its' sleeker, faster, cheaper cousin - kinda like how the Nebula class was the cheaper, more flexible, easier to construct cousin of the Galaxy class. Alternatively you could aim to produce some designs with common design lineages, like a counterpart to the Excelsior-Ambassador-Galaxy lineage. Ooh actually I really like the sound of that... 8-)

One thing i might ask is could someone reskin or correctly set the textures on the Romulan Warbird. They are not set correctly it seems for the 3DS file and it basically loads up on texture and applies it to the whole thing.

Are you downloading it from http://star-trek-games.com/
in Fleetyard/Romulan Star Empire/ page 4 Warbird II?

I checked both Warbird I and Warbird II. With Ultimate Unwarp and with Milkshape 3D the skins appear to be applied correctly.

I did not get as much work in on the Federation fleet as I had hoped but there are more png images to look at on SharePoint.

http://www.botf2.com/Image%20Library/Fo ... tion&View=
take Fleets Ships Stations folder, then federation.

The Federation should be done by the end of the year.
