I would like that as well MOE. It will take two or three months for me to get together with all the voice actors I have in mind. The variety of phrases will come in handy. Right now I guess we are still looking for the two to three work clips that can fit into the combat engine but I can cut down any long winded clips.

Just as a note on voices, in BOTF each of the four ship categories (Command, Fast Attack, Strike, Non-Combatant) had a different voice, sometimes two. And every response or command that triggered a voice had between 1-4 different responses, with an average of 2-3 depending on how often it was heard, namely to avoid the problem Kenneth_of_Borg pointed out.



When I did a few Cardassian voices a while back I went in to the old BOTF Cardassian files and separated the files by voice and labeled what was said. The most common combat voice (The Command or Fast Attack group), had 74 individual voice files, while the other three all averaged around 40 different voice files for different responses and what not (including random encounters).

Of course this also excludes the interface voices outside of combat, which had another 40 or so for the Cardassian computer synth voice and the "claiming a world in the name of Cardassia" voice (I can't remember if there were other voices beyond these).

So if Supremacy were to match the range of voices in BOTF you would need around 250 different voice files for each race, coming in around 1250 voices files overall. Obviously at the moment, getting the basic number required to make the game playable is much better than going through that many recordings. If anyone is interested I can upload the Cardassian files from BOTF so voice actors/planners can see all the different lines from BOTF for each of the voices I could identify (and if anyone has already done this for ALL the races I would interested in getting those files myself, and if no one has I could also go through all the other races' voice files to narrow down those lines as well).

I remember initiating a similar conversation outside that thread, so I think now there might be at least three threads about voice acting and what lines to add (only one in the actual jobs thread), which is fine by me, because I know where they are, but others may find those threads useful as well .

Just to let you know ive recorded a few phrases. Used dominion lines to do it as they were the first ones I thought of at the time. Ill post them up and if anyone has any comments or need them redone ill be happy to do it. I think I sound way too British though hehe

You should download the SFC2 voice samples I uploaded the other day. They include the voices for the Hydran Kingdoms - you wouldn't believe it to look at them, but you don't get accents more British than the ones those giant, green, three-legged things have.



A range of accents is definitely what we need for the game. We can easily use British accents in an officer or battleship type role, or for some of the minor races. Some accents are needed more than others though. But not mine. I'm Welsh. Few people understand me.

Well, I like your recordings MOE. Yes please on the British accent. It would be nice to do the Federation and Romulan that way as well.

we'll probably scrap joomla and install php nuke (the same content management system as here: www.armadafleetcommand.com/botf ) to further prevent such mishaps. Wasn't the first time that joomla was either hacked or behaving badly..

We also need to figure out precisely what backups forum members have on their computers. I've got copies of ALL of the music from Davumaya and Sandman, so that's a good start. I've also got SJ2290's random event images, and I can go through my Trek games to find all of the sound effects and voices again as examples and inspiration for everyone.

What does everyone else have on their computers? Models? Sound effects? Voices? Images?
