I downloaded Supremacy, and installed 3.5 that was included in the download.
I have Vista Home Premium, the computer is up to date on everything (it's a brand new laptop).
Any suggestions? I have a desktop with XP and it works great.
I've tried in compatibility mode and it still wont work.

that's the right version. Have you got a firewall running that restricts loopback calls? Supremacy does use a server-client architecture even when playing single-player (it doesn't connect to the internet if you aren't playing over the internet). Maybe it gets some socket errors. A bit more details might be useful. What file do you run exactly and what exactly happens (blackened screen or total hang-up of system etc.) after trying to run the program.

As soon as I double click on the blue icon Supremacy Client, Windows immediately says "Supremacy Client has stopped working" and closes. Nothing ever loads. Windows firewall has been turned off since the day I got the computer.

The error.txt file (If there is one) will be located in your main Supremacy folder, kshawks. Also look for another file called ServerError.txt. That file - if it is present - will also be in your main Supremacy folder. Whenever Supremacy crashes, it creates these files, although exactly which ones are created depends on the type of crash you are experiencing. You may therefore find you have only one file present but not the other, or you may find you have both. Supremacy deletes these files every time you try to load the game, and then creates a new file only when a crash occurs. If something the game doesnt recognise is causing the crash though, it is possible these files won't be created. The main thing that we need is information. If you can find these files then all the better. If not though, there are a few things you can do; Try deleting Supremacy, then redownload it. You may just simply have a corrupted download. Try uninstalling .Net, restart your computer, then reinstall it from the link above. .Net may not have installed correctly. Check your firewalls as Mal said. If you've got a router, it may have a built-in hardware filewall that you might need to adjust too. Check your router manual if you think that is the cause of your problems and you want to adjust your settings, but also remember that you may end up reducing your security if you do so. Fingers crossed one of these works if you can't find the two files we mentioned.

No firewall on my computer...double checked just to be sure....the router has it disabled.
I re-downloaded the game 2 times, just to make sure. The game isn't even installed yet. I get it downloaded, and extract the files to my desktop, for easy access, and double click on the blue Supremacy icon, and the only thing that comes up is Windows says, "Supremacy Client Has Stopped Working." As soon as I finish double clicking the Windows error comes up, the game doesn't even seem to respond. No log files that I see in the folder. I re-downloaded .net 2 times as well, and un-installed the other copies, and restarted.

from what I can tell this looks like some kind of a driver problem (at least google turns out a lot of hits with this error profile that are seemingly related to driver issues). Mike needs to go over this, he can possibly tell more about this than I can.

I've sent Mike a PM about this thread. With any luck he'll be on the forums soon enough, or i'll see him on MSN.

I just did the Supremacy download; I did install the "Service Pack",first; but when I play the game the auto downloader did not download the latest "Christmas" special. I've tried to reload Supremacy and it still doesn't work. On a nice note: Supremacy is a fantastic game.

I tried uploading the game to Mediafire but the .zip was 6mb bigger than the free accounts allow. Jig has shown me how to upload files to the stg server now though so i'll upload it as soon as my sister gets off the pc. (I'm writing this on my wii) I'll post the download location as soon as I can.

I haven't needed to try yet Mal; Jig has given me his ftp password so I can upload stuff whenever I want. My sister is finally off the computer, and I've just finished going through Zeleni's latest image update, so i'll start uploading the file to the server. Watch this space for the download link, guys. It'll take about an hour to upload as my upload speed is terrible.

it's just for when one server is broken for whatever reason that you still can upload large files. Besides, I'd like to know if larger files work at all over that other protocol. Okay, I could test it myself, but..

It might have taken longer than I expected, but i've just uploaded my own copy of Supremacy to the downloads section of Our Portal Page.Sorry I can't give you guys a direct download link, but for security reasons you need to be signed into the portal before you can download files - a directl download would therefore be useless until you logged in. If you can't log onto the portal page, you will need to sign up. (The portal has a different user database to these forums, even though it's on the same website as the forums, so if you haven't already created an account you will need to do so first) You can find the Supremacy download in the Downloads Downloads Supremacy folder, on the left -hand side of the page. Please delete your existing version of Supremacy before you unzip this version. Failure to do so could lead to file conflicts and crashes.Try downloading this version and see if you still have a problem, kshawks. Fingers crossed. I know that kruge has downloaded it already because he was waiting on the portal page for me lol.

Hey...that worked!
I deleted the other folder, downloaded the game from that portal, and as soon as I double clicked the icon, it came up and said I needed to download SP1 for .NET. I looked at the add/remove programs, I didn't have SP1, not sure how that happened, as I followed the link from the download page. Sorry for all the trouble there, it works now!! Thanks again for everyone's help!
