Fusion reactor and fabrication plants don't have the option of being upgraded

Welcome to the forums, reallybig! :)

The fabrication plants problem is a known one - in fact I fixed it two days ago. The update hasn't been released yet, that's all.

I didn't know about the Fusion Reactor problem though, so thanks for that. I've just fixed it and i'll send the update to Mike in a few days time along with a big image update I have.

that was quick

thanks for the welcome great work on the game

only played feds so far so i don't know about the other races but a few things that happened when i was playing:

will there be an option to buy the buildings like in botf1 because waiting 109 turns for an upgrade totally stinks.

the silicobiology description in the science page has a typo in carbon

The Heavy Cruiser III requires an insane amount of raw materials to build 1 ship, over 891 million

building up food reserves and dilithium was a brilliant idea

occasionaly when ending turns the game freezes but a restart usually solves that

Explorer III has no fuel so is stranded in the system it is built

tactical cruiser didn't appear in the build menu after i researched all the final sciences

will the construction ship get any upgrades aswell?

games brilliant so far keep up the good work sorry if alot of the things i've said are already being seen to

Yes, there will be a buy option - eventually - but it won't be the instant buy option that BOTF had. Instead, you will just increase the build speed by paying your workers to do overtime. We've had several years worth of discussions on this particular feature, and the build rate increase instead of instant-buy is the system that people eventually agreed on. However, part of the construction problem is because of the low populations in the game; BOTF allowed for much higher populations in certain instances. I've suggested a couple of ways to solve this to Mike, but they would invlolve major code changes as the code that decides on population sizes is surprisingly complex. It's therefore unlikely that Mike will makes the chanes - or if he does, it won't be coming for a long while. :(

I've fixed the Silicobiology typo. Thanks for that. :thumbsup:

The ships that are currently implemented in the game are going to be overhauled soon - in fact i'm doing the overhaul myself. 891 million raw materials is definitely a typo in the editor. :lol:

The freeze bug is something that has plagued the game for a long, long, time. We still have no idea as to the cause, but we're looking for it. Thankfully it's rare, but that also makes it harder to find. All I can say is make sure you save your games on a regular basis. Also, if you manage to save the game on the turn before a freeze, it would be very helpful for us if you could attach a copy of that save game to a post, as it may help us to track the cause of the bug.

This is another ship-related bug. I'll fix this when I perform the overhaul on the ships.

The lack of the Prometheus is probably related to either the tech requirements or the type of shipyard it needs. Again, i'll fix this when I perform the overhaul.

The Federation construction ship will get one upgrade, but the construction ships of the other empires currently do not receive any upgrades. This may change in future though, depending on how well the game is balanced (IE. does the Starbase 2 take a million turns to build)


Thanks for the feedback, and don't worry about repeating things; it's better to repeat than to miss something out. The more eyes that are on the game, the more likely it is the bugs will be noticed, so if you notice anything else keep posting. :)

The Ferengi ARE a minor race - they are no longer an Empire. But they are a minor race that will have more buildings and ship designs than most of the other minor races. They will also be able to expand to other star systems and esentially become mini-empires. Several other races, such as the Vulcans and Andorians will also be able to grow in this manner. 8-)

hi, im not specking englis very well... but i saw that this problem with 2 building upgrades is not resolved :(... when will be ready the upgrade that resolve this problem... i played for 2 time the federation single player campaing till this point... first time i thougt that i did something wrong...

i also have a sugestion :) :bigthumb: : when we advance in reserch levels... why don't u put an option to upgrade the ships that are alredy build and outposts...and if it's posible to build in same sistem more tipes of stations because in this verion of game if i build an outpost lvl I i cannot upgraded and i cannot build another tipe of station too...

:bigthumb: in my game till now all the miror races are members of my imperium so the trade option is not working in this situation try to put some options(misions like goods transport, invasion...) to transport ship because and i belive there are others players like me this ship is no use

:love: and it would be nice to introduce an technology of terraformation of planets, asteroids... and posibility to increase the number of people in the home and colonised sistems(it's not important if it is added in the last level... i think that it would be nice). i belive that is time for this game to have this thing too...

and i have a last question :?: : the hospital ship.. what is the role of this ship in the game?

The upgrading thing, I'm guessing it's not implemented yet? I noticed that you can't upgrade Outposts last night.
The Transport ships actually do have another use at least, Collect Deuterium. You can use it when your fleet is outside its Range, on systems with Gas Giants, to refill its Fuel tanks. :wink: Invading systems is not nyet working I guess, but it'll be at some point.
It's also planned to have pop extension capabilities in systems, with the addition of colonization of moons. The code is in AFAIK, but it's not enabled yet because it's buggy.

Hey cmcdune, welcome to the forums! :)

I'm currently working on fixing the remaining building upgrade bugs. .Iceman has been very helpful in finding them for me.

Ship and outpost upgrades will be in the game, they just haven't been implemented yet, as .Iceman surmised.

The main use of Transports is to invade systems. Ferrying good around is something that most people don't actually want in the game because this would vastly increase micromanagement. There's no harm in asking Mike about it if you really want it, but we've talked about it before and virtually everone said they didn't want it.

Terraforming will be in the game - it just hasn't been implemented yet. Terraforming will be a bit different to in BOTF. Depending on the planet type and your tech level, you will be able to perform terraforming multiple times. The "best" type of planet also varies on the race you are playing as - Humans prefer Terran planets, the Klingons prefer Jungles, and the Cardassians prefer Deserts. The maximum population of each planet therefore varies depending on the occupying race. Each race will also terraform planets towards their ideal planet type, not just simply make them inhabitable or move them closer to becoming Terran lanets by default.

The hospital ship will help to cure systems that have become infected with plagues - plagues will strike based on how healthy your population is, and will slowly kill off your people until they are wiped out or cured. ALL ships will have some innate ability to cure people, but Hospital ships will by far be the best ships for doing it. They are also the best of the non-combat ships, because they are mini-starships in their own right; they have decent shields, hit points, and weapons, although they certainly aren't warships.

ALL ships can collect Deuterium from Gas Giants, .Iceman. It's supposed to be that way. If you find any ships that can't then it's a bug.

Invading systems isn't in the game yet either. It will be implemented eventually though.

And yes, the Moon Colonization code is in the game, it's just buggy. I'll implement the structures though as soon as Mike gives me the all clear to do so.
