Ask your mum if she would be willing to record a set of the combat voice clips. We need female voices. Those extra clips so far are nice but it is the combat clips that will be put into the game.

Sorry. She said she wasn't really into this, but i will see if i can get her to say some, record them, then make them sound more like someone from star trek would say.

Could we add sound to the multiplayer, mike? I mean like chat with some pre-recorded sounds that you could send to others, as in to get them to hurry up there turn?

Will we be able to tractor disabled vessels during combat? I accidently made some sound files for that.

Will we be able to build outposts where multiple races control them, such as the Starbase in Starfleet Command 3? It could have advanced technology from both races that would make it more powerful than normal starbases. It could be a staging ground for fleets. When the alliance is terminated, the races would then fight over it during a few turns(as in the personel on the station), then the winner would get it. The race with the most personel would be the one that gets it of course, unless we could do some sort of personel training, then it would depend on numbers and training. As for starting the building, maybe it would become available after 50 turns of an alliance with a race and you would both have to send a construction ship to the same place and it is very volnerable while the starbase is being built, which is why you would need an armada to defend it from your enemies.

This was just for fun.

I gave a question here.. do you have a fan or television on when recording? your mic is picking up buzzing background noise. you can berely hear it, but that last recording it is pretty loud

Umm we did once have voices for construction, mainly for stuff like colonizing ans builiding outposts etc, though i haven't checked the recent list of qoutes recently.

I'am not sure MStrobel has it ingame yet either.

Our construction and other vocals, inspired by the original game, can still be found on SharePoint.

So how is development coming along? Is it okay to ask for percentages?

Okay wolfe. I will pass it on to your surviving family.

I justed asked because i watch the Star Trek Excalibur project and they hate when people who much they actually have done. They immediately lock the post and refer you to the FAQ, where it says the team will not answer questions about how much and when it will be done.

I can only answer for the content I have been working on.

We are done with 100 per cent of version one of the major race ship models and work on version two is underway. We are about 35 per cent done with the minor race models for version one.

Voice acting for the combat engine is 80 per cent done for version one. We need someone to record the Dominion. This will be done, along with work on the coding, by Wolfe.

I don't visit the Supremacy website much because i'm on the forums several times a day, Jean. I don't have a need to visit the site, especially since Mike sends me links to any updates as well. If there are problems with the site, then people usually post about it and i'll respond as best I can. At the time I posted that message, as far as I knew you had disappeared again. Sorry for insulting you, but I just didn't know otherwise at the time.

Mike is going to be releasing a major update in a month or three, so keep an eye out for the updated download link. He's working on refactoring the game, which amongst other things, will hopefully fix several known bugs and speed up the processing time of the game. I've actually tested an early version of the update and I noticed up to a 60% improvement in processing time. However, since the update lacked any of the database updates that i've made over the last three months or so, it's impossible to make a direct comparison at the moment.

I haven't spoke to Mike in a week or so, but last he said to me was that the update was still a few weeks (At least) away. He did give me a trial version of the update to test whether it would run any faster than the existing version of the game though; well it did. Turn processing took about 2-3 seconds per turn, whilst on the normal game it takes about 5 seconds per turn for my computer.

It was only a trial though, which is why I am not going to release this update for download. Many of the game features were incomplete or disabled, and my updates were completely lacking from it, so it was impossible to make a proper comparison. We'll just have to wait for the full version before we know for sure.

Thank you. Do you guys have a date you are working to for the game to be completed? Just wondering, although i know it won't be for at least another year and a half.

No, there are no target dates. We just muddle through until it's finished, whenever that is :).

You could look at the jobs section viewforum.php?f=11 for something to do. Muddling is something we seam to be able to do on our own.

Thank you for the link. I might be able to help out with the descriptions.

Is it still true that you don't have any descriptions for the Klingons or Romulans yet? I usually play the Federation.

Yes Jamie, it's true that we don't have any ship descriptions for the Klingons, Romulans or the Dominion. Dafedz has completed the ship descriptions for the Federation and Cardassian ships though though. He was actually going to start doing the Klingon and Romulan ship descriptions soon, so i'll send him a PM and let him know that you're offering your help in that area. :)

Quick question: once you finally release the game in its full version, will you keep adding on, such as adding new content? I know this is a bit early, but i want to know if i should make descriptions for future star ships?

If you are, will what you add come from the new Star Trek Online game that is supposed to be released(such as the ships)? Just curious. I think it would be cool to write descriptions for those ships.

Everyone will have access to add new ships and features to the game they play. I can not say if Star Trek Online ships will end up as part of what is offered here.

Jamie, once Supremacy is complete, we will start making guides and things so that people can learn how to use the editor so that they can mod the game; one of our main aims for Supremacy is that it would be as moddable as possible, since it's taken the community almost a decade to really get to grips with modding most aspects of BOTF. We don't want that with Supremacy, we want it to be as easy as possible.

Once we've done that, it will be down to individual users to contribute mods or files as they want to. But we'll all still be here, offering our help, coming up with ideas, and so on. We're hoping to make Supremacy as long-lasting as BOTF is. :)

I seriously doubt we will use any of the content from Star Trek Online. There would definitely be legal questions over doing so. i suppose people could make their own versions of any content that is in STO, but I personally would definitely want to avoid using anything from STo. We simply don't know how keen the legal team for STO will be regarding their content. It's better to be safe than sorry.

...

Welcome to the forums, Optimus Knowlsy! :)

We actually already have an early prototype of the combat system, but it's been developed as a stand-alone program rather than a part of Supremacy (Only for the time being, it will be merged into Supremacy once it is closer to completion). You can download it from the downloads section of Our Site Portal. The link is on the left-hand side of the page under the resources section. You need to sign into the portal first though before the downloads section is accessible (Or Sign up first if you haven't already done so), so I can't give you a direct download link to it.

...

Thanks for the info on your system, Starone. Supremacy is actually built using many Vista technologies, so it should actually be more stable on Vista than on XP. Luckily the bugs and incompatibilities are few and far between, but info like this will help us to work out what configurations do and don't work, so thanks for that.

I've looked at the game and at Birth of the Empires in the hopes of a more modern and fun replacement for Birth of the Federation.

Overall, Supremacy looks and sounds incredible. I love the graphics - I really do. The zooming functionality is nice, as well.

Bugs I think I found:

-Many of the ships are image-less when you click on them in the building queue (the little icon is not there), but the ships behave normally once built.

-The game locks up between turns after about 20-25 turns for me. It says it's trying to update from the server, but just sits and sits. Unsure if others have seen this problem - I force it to shut down after about five minutes of nothing.

-Other empires do not expand. They sit in their space and that appears to be the end of it.

Game mechanics:
-Not sure I understand the # of officers, as I routinely run out of them and, yet, can still build and operate ships.

Anyway, it is a very impressive project and I hope to see news of progress. I only occasionally load it and check it out, as I'm not sure if things have changed from the last time I was on it. I recommend a notification when there is an update - maybe a pop-up that comes on when the autoupdater is doing its stuff with the latest changes or something like that?

Bri
