Star Trek Premiere Esurance Contest

I need your help please. The company Esurance has a contest in the US for the biggest trekkie and the winner goes to the premiere of Star Trek. You enter with a video submission here. See their version of the trailer and then go to contest and click videos to look over the submissions. You can rate each video by clicking the Starfleet emblems over the video window. Notice that some of the ratings do not seam to match the quality of the submission. Clearly some submitters are going back in and rating themselves multiple times and downgrading others as they do. Surely the people at Esurance can see what is happening. I do not want to do that. Rather I am asking you to rate my submission, highly I hope, and spread the word to others.

My submission is called Inspiration by KennethF and the still image showing is me in hospital scrubs with a white apron on. This was my first ever video. It could be more polished but the message, I hope, is clear. In the end the contest depends little on the viewer rating but is judged by Esurance for value and content. For what it does matter though I would like to at least hold onto a three star rating. Currently I am barely doing that.

As validation of my work the site Trekmovie.com gave my entry the best video of the week award. For this I get a Star Trek T-shirt with an advertisement for Esurance on the back. You can see the shirt and what they said at http://trekmovie.com/2009/02/16/esurance-biggest-trekkie-video-of-the-week-week-2/

I watched the other 4-5 movies with 4-5 stars ranking and must say yours is by far the funniest . That scene with the too old Spock is hilarious ;). But what's with the contorted (cellphone-quality) sound in some parts? It's a bit difficult to keep the volume adjusted so that I can understand and follow what's spoken. But otherwise great stuff indeed!

All I have is a digital still camera that also will record some video. It has a cheap microphone. There is voice over where I could. Otherwise it would mean spending big money on a video camera and a quality external microphone attached. In the end my hope is that the armature aspects will have some honest or endearing character like the modeling clay Vulcan ear and the child's face paint makeup.

Thanks for voting. Vote early and often.

Wow Kenneth, no offense...but you look older than I imagined you to. :P

I voted a five...so how do you feel about smuggling people in to the premiere?

I did not want anyone to think I was a child predator. If your parents found out I might get in trouble about spending my time in a kid's chat room.

When Trekmovie.com gave me a good review and linked to my video my rating went up to 4. Since then the other submitters appear to have been playing whack a mole and I was briefly as low as 2. If I try to fix it myself I am being just like them. I get by with a little help from my friends. (Oh, I guess that dates me too) :P

Kid? I'm 22 so i'm not kid.

Last time I spoke to TrekBoyChris he was 14. He's probably 15 by now. He would be the kid if he still visited. Damn I miss some of the old guys from the forums. Fingers crossed they pop back up again one day... :)

Hi Kenneth, you got my vote for the contest. Good luck with the results!

Too bad I'm not eligible to enter the contest as well... :gripe: :gripe: :gripe: :gripe: :gripe:

Thanks Captain. If I win I will take you all along. Those of you that I can hide in my back pocket anyway.

There is a newer video that is rather funny. Some guy has locked himself in the bathroom to make the video. He lives with his mother in a one bedroom apartment because he spent all her money on Star Trek memorabilia. Click on more to look for him.
