Good Morning,
I have been a big fan of the Star Trek series ever since the original series. I am old enough to have seen all of the Star Trek movies in the theater (or theatre as one may say). However, I also saw Star Wars in its first run in the theater (tickets were $2.75), and of course all of Babylon 5. I am a fan of all three. With the rise of computer games, I often wondered which race/faction was the most powerful technologically. Who would blow away the other race's starships? I have seen some interesting Youtube videos on this topic (search Startrek vs. babylon 5, etc.). I am sure there are more knowledgeable people on the Sci-Fi Universe than I, so I would like to start a discussion beginning with this:
Level of Technology in Descending Order (of major races across the "Big 3"):
1) Lorien --First One B5 2) Vorlon/Shadows--B5 3) Minbari--B5 4) Species 8472--Star Trek 5) The Borg Collective--Star Trek 6)The Galactic Empire (The Death Star)--Star Wars 7) UFP--Star Trek 8) Dominion (Have an entire race as their command) 9) Klingon (attack while cloaking)--Star Trek 10) Romulan (Cloaking)--Star Trek 11) Rebellion (for sheer ship size Mon Calamari Cruisers)--Star Wars 12) Cardassian--(Cheap Production)--Star Trek 13) Centauri--(Beat the Narn) B5 14) Narn B5 15) Earth Alliance (Got tech from Centauri and Narn)
Looking forward to your input...Come to think of it, maybe the Minbari are ranked too highly...maybe more races (and no, the Ferengi don't count as a major--they just want to profit!)

I guess the Q, the Wormhole aliens and the Travelers have no competition, so I would put them on place 0) above anyone else

I guess Q would have to be first. However, I wonder is more powerful, but did not use his powers like Q. Pure conjecture, of course... GB

I would also include some of the races of the Stargate universe like the Goa'uld, the Ancients, the Ori and the Wraith. The last three would also be rather high in the list...

I would put Q as the highest level, with the Ancients and Ori on an equal level below the Q. Whilst the Ori started off more powerful, they were only more powerful because people worshipped them; on their own, they were equal to or slightly less powerful than the Ancients. Next would be the Organians, then the Wormhole aliens. Then the Wraith, then the Asgard (Obviously before they died lol), them the Go'a'uld. I know nothing other than the basic storyline of B5 so I can't comment on those races. GeorgiaBoy's list would then carry on as stated under my list, although i'm not really sure who would win in a fight - the Go'a'uld, the Borg, or Species 8472, so they would be interchangeable. I imagine the Borg would be most likely to win a long-term war, the Go'a'uld would win IF they united under a single System Lord and did and all-out blitz, and Species 8472 would win a war if they did an all-out surprise attack. We know that Species 8472 are at least willing to attempt diplomacy but the Borg would only do so as a last resort and would double-cross you once your end of the bargain was upheld so 8472 would beat the Borg eventually, especially if they allied with someone else.

But we don't know how long the Borg have been fighting 8472 for - the Borg might simply have not adapted yet. And their nanoprobes were an effective weapon against 8472. Ok, they needed Voyager's help to come up with the idea, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't have done so without Voyager's help. 8472 went straight to the negotiating table once the Borg had an effective weapon, which means 8472 were scared and didn't want to continue the war when they knew their survival chance had dropped, even though their own weapons were still as devastating against the Borg as always. They could easily have employed guerilla tactics or done hit-and-run raids to avoid the new Borg weapon, but they didn't, they instead cowered down and tried to negotiate. I'm not so sure it would have been so clear-cut because of this.

Ok so I couldn't remember the exact details, but I do remember watching the episodes. The weapon was also based on modified nanoprobe technology, so whilst it was killing 8472 instead of assimilating them, that's of little consequence. It's a weapon that killed the apparently unstoppable 8472. The Borg could just keep assimilating other races to keep their numbers up. Afterall, the Borg are likely to number in the trillions if not more, so losing a few billion drones isn't as bad as it initially sounds.

I've never played the XBox version, but I...er...acquired...the PC version a few months ago. Warping into planets is a real pain in the PC version as well. They're smaller than i'd like them to be, but they're bigger than twice the size of the ship, so it sounds like the PC version has bigger planets. If you had the PC version, i'd recommend you download The Aftermath mod. Tons more ships, better graphics, tons of new maps, more missions, lots of new modes...it's everything Legacy should have been.
