Sorry Jamie; you wont be getting this Title screen in any updates. It is a Val "Exclusive" the Easter-ish update has the Easter bunny in it that I put together a few days ago if Mike is using it.

OKay. That is cool. Just make sure it is in the next update! I think it is the best one you have done for the title screen so far.

If Mike temporarily can't put my content update into the game, I won't be able to manually release it either. Mike has told me that my updates may be incompatible with the Easter update, and I don't want to be responsible for corrupting your games. He has to write a special program that ports the new/updated info into the Easter-version files to ensure there aren't any incompatibilities. So Mike is therefore the only person that can sort out that particular part of the update. I won't continue doing updates either until I get the all-clear to do so from Mike; future updates will be to the Easter-version files to ensure compatibility. ...I can however release the images as you asked for, Jamie, although a number of them won't show up in the game because they are named to relate to structures that are part of my update; if the structure is new, or has been changed, the game won't know where to display the new images so they will be ignored. There are a ton of new images related to the ships as you will know if you've been following my 3D models thread though, so you'll at least get to see these. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Open your Supremacy folder, wherever you've put it. Open the Resources Folder. Open the Images folder. Find the TechObjects folder. DELETE THIS FOLDER AND ITS CONTENTS. Download This FileOpen the downloaded file with Winzip or whatever archiving program you prefer to use. Use the Wizard to unzip the contents into your Supremacy/Resources/Images folder. (Do NOT unzip them anywhere else) A new TechObjects folder will automatically be created for you and the images will be placed in that folder, allowing the game to access them. Play the game and enjoy.

Hey guys I don't think Mike had the chance to release the new easter"ish" update before he left for Microsoft's training camp. I knew he mentioned he did not have time to get MOE's content added to the update, so we are probably not going to see the patch update until Mike gets back from Redmond, Washington. but remember good things always come to people that wait. -Val

Hey guys. I just found this game yesterday, but I played it for about 300 turns today. Its great! I cant wait till it is done. I do have a few questions. When I finaly found the Cardies they havent moved at all. Im assuming the AI is not working yet? And how is the multi player? I have 2 comps at home and id like to see a space battle. If the AI isnt working can i start a multi player game and fight it out that way? I know you guys want feed back but the game is absolutely amazing! My music was messing up so I had to turn that off. Oh the time it takes to make outposts is just insane. I mean 5% a turn? thats kinda slow. I like how you can build building and ships at the same time. Im going to keep messing around with is to see if i can find any other feedback i can find. Thanks for all your work on this and its going to be awesome when its finished.

Oh I did just remember 2 things i did want to see in game. One is a buy button. I really had no other use for credits. without the buy button money is kinda useless. Im sure thats coming, but i just wanted to point it out. Also old birth had a pop ship support. it would show you how many ships you could have untill you would start paying for it out of pocket. If i remember anymore ill be back.

Yes, the AI is still a ways off. Also there is not yet any combat. This really is a pre-alpha demo. We love the feedback. MOE will have some more to say so I will wait for him to say.

Maybe its just "in the making" video of the combat. which looks really cool. if it is indeed the combat for this. Unlike old birth, there really wasnt much to do. give oders and hit end. see what happens and his end again. Not much use for changing tactics. And most fights were over in 2 rounds anyhow. On another note, i like how the game looks clean cut. Its hard to explain, the UI is very nice.

You've misinterpretted what Kenneth said, Paladin. Look again: Kenneth_of_Borg wrote: Also there is not yet any combat. We have got a combat system, and you probably did see a video because I know there is one on Youtube and Gamespot. What Kenneth meant is that the combat system is currently a separate, stand-alone program; it isn't a part of Supremacy yet. Once the combat system is complete, it will be merged into Supremacy. Until that happens though, Supremacy wont have a combat system. It *may* however get a very simple, non-graphical combat system at a later date as a stop-gap measure until the graphical combat system is complete. You can download the current version of the combat system from Here.HOWEVER, the combat system is NOT compatible wih Windows Vista yet, and the download hasn't been updated in a few months. It is still under development though, because I spoke to CdrWolfe, the developer, a couple of days ago, and he told me that he was still working on it. It also suffers from a major memory leak, and is buggy. But future updates (When they come) will fix this. Most of the ship models are also very old versions and some even lack their hull textures, so please don't ask about these - we already know.

Mike knows that people would like a colony management system in the game. He's working on some ideas at the moment, but it likely won't be in the game for a while. The quick-buy system WON'T be in the game. Instead, there will be a system where you can pay your workers to work overtime and increase build speed by 10%. This will be coming in a future update. I've made some changes to the ingame database over the last four months. There are a couple of new races, and many of their details have been updated. These updates haven't been released yet, but the races will be slightly more evenly spread because of the changes. I also know that Mike is going to/has made some changes to the way the game generates maps. Difficulty settings wil be coming as part of a future update. There's no point in making the game harder if there's no AI to make the other races and empires do stuff though. The Easter update has a new option that goes a little way towards changing the difficulty setting though. You'll find out what that new option is once the update is released. I'm sworn to secrecy on the details at the moment though. Multiplayer does work. If you want to arrange a game, create a thread in the Supremacy Chat forum and see if anyone is willing to give it a go. Mike plans to scrap the current multiplayer screen and replace it with a lobby system to make it far easier to start/join multiplayer games though. This will be coming in a future update, but I don't know when.

You haven't sent me any emblems in quite a long while Zeleni, so i'm not sure. I've uploaded all of the images that i've had to the Sharepoint Image Library/BOTF 2 Insignia folders so have a look on there whether they are the latest ones. I've got ALL of the images on there though - older ones included. I've named the older files as racename_alternate to separate them out so don't worry if you see older ones on there.
The last official image update was christmas which is why the insignia aren't in the download.

I just downloaded the update, and the first thing i noticed was that the title picture had not been included. I still have the Christmas Tree in Supremacy.
What else was in the update besides the pictures, and the database update, and the code that made the game run smoother(it runs a lot better now).

Update? Mike hasn't told me about releasing the update yet, and he hasn't updated any of the download links either. However, the download links do NOT contain the Christmas update, so if you just downloaded the game, then you might have confused the Christmas update with the Easter one, Jamie. You'll be able to tell if you have the Easter update or not because there's new music for starters...

I have not just downloaded the game. I opened it up, same as i did yesterday, but there were files to download. I just assumed this was the Easter Update. Sorry. I didn;t mean to be presumtuous.

Hmm that's wierd then. I just tried performing an update but I checked the files that were being updated before I let it download. ALL of the files that it tried to download were reversions of my updated files, so there definitely wasn't an update available for me. Odd...
Mike (Or myself) will announce on the forums when an update has been released. We'll either post about it in this thread or we'll create a specific new thread. We'll also update any download links on the forums to the Easter update version, because I know of a couple of people who have had problems with the updater and firewalls. It would actually be better for people to download the full version of the game rather than just the update though because the updater can't actually delete old files that are no longer needed; downloading the full version would therefore also result in a cleaner installation. But it's up to people to decide what they want to do. The entire game is getting around the 150mb mark (Yes, the Christmas and Easter updates really do total 57mb) so it won't be practical for everyone to redownload it from scratch.

I had a few more ideas that i would like to see in the game. I know you guys are looking for imput but its more of ideas that i think would make the game more enjoyable.
First, I always thought it was odd that the bigger ships had a really short range. If galaxy class ships are supposed to be long range explorer ships they should have longer ranges. And the smaller ships should be more for support.
And my other idea is hard to put into words. With the huge maps there is a lot of room for exploration. I noticed there are servey ships, im assuming you can servey systems and sectors for bonuses. My idea is that all ships that are out exploring systems should have chances to have encounters. Like in birth 1 when you were able to pick which faction to implacate for your espionage, you should get an option like that to pick your actions when you find something. IE, you find an old ship or ruins in a system, you get options like blow it up, tow it to a starbase or find out about it right then. and each option has a chance to succed or fail and all have diffrent bonuses and risks.
Thats my 2 cents, I hope this is the type of feedback you are looking for.

Thanks for your input Paladin. First off, the stats of the ships are NOT complete in your version of the game - and contain many inaccuracies anyway. I'm half-way through updating the stats of the ships to fix the problems, and I know that i've changed the ranges and/or fuel capacities for many of the ships. Please also remember the game hasn't been playtested yet - even once my update is complete, if people agree the ranges are too short then I will increase them in future. But it's too early to say what the ranges *should* be yet because people haven't had a chance to properly playtest them. Also several of the ship orders have not been implemented yet, so the roles of the ships aren't immediately obvious yet. Yes you can survey systems for bonuses. There are currently two types of bonuses that I know of; Wormhole detection, and research. This is obviously subject to change though as ideas get refined and changed. More bonuses may therefore be added later. I've also been working on the random events for the game. My list of events is considerably bigger than the list that was present in BOTF - and that includes more combat events, such as Pirates, Species 8472, Renegade Starships, Artificial Intelligence projects going wrong (Kinda like the Renegade Starship one), etc. There are also randoms such as capturing advanced alien starships, encountering the Think-Tank from Voyager, encountering the alien shipyard from Enterprise, and so on. So exploration is definitely going to be more interesting. And on top of all that, there are more minor races. So space might be big, but it won't be empty... The Random Events (Incomplete)

Hi V, There was a delay in the release “Easter Release” and to top things of Mike the lead programmer had to tend a Microsoft Camp this week so he ran out of time before he could get the update together. Below is information about the new release updates mstrobel wrote: The update includes significant architectural changes that aren't really apparent to the player. The game client has been completely refactored to be more modular and extensible. There should be some performance and stability improvements, too.
Aside from that, there are some gameplay changes: • You can choose your starting tech level (1, 3, 5, 7, or 9). • You can now resume saved multiplayer games. • Several bugs have been fixed. I'm not sure if I can get matress' content updates into the game by tomorrow, and I'll be at the Microsoft campus in Redmond all of next week, so I doubt I'll have any time to work on the game. -Val

yes i know about this, but it´s a week ago and i thought there were some new informations around. And in one thread they mentioned something what will surprise the users but they couldn´t say what exactly coz it should be a surprise. And i am realy curious. But i think we have to be patient und wait and continue playtesting. By the way i downloaded the images content and i realy like your images. I like to see the progress how missing items become no more missing items.

I haven't spoken to Mike since he posted the update that Valcoren just quoted, viceadmiralv, so I honestly don't know if there are any newer updates. Mike KNOWS that people are waiting for the update and he's working as hard as he can, but please remember he also has to live his life and do his "real" job. I'm not going to tell you what the surprises are in the update because that would simply spoil the surprise. We have already had spoilers posted on the forums though, so I can mention those again: the game has got new music, there are a lot of bug fixes and new game content, there are new options in the options menu, and the Cardassian User Interface has been scrapped. (Don't worry, it will be replaced by one that works at a later date). I'm not going to say any more, you're just going to have to wait. ...And anyways, the big surprise will be coming in another update...

Hey V,
Thanks for the comments about the hard work everyone is putting in to keep this project moving. I can sympathize with Mike’s schedule. I personally have a busy life myself. I work full time, go to college full time, and I’m a dad full time. I look forward for breaks in school; it is when I can push out images the best, but during term I’m lucky if I get time for one or two out a week, and FIY class does not let out for me for another 9 wks ….doh!!! Just have to keep a positive outlook on this, and remember you can still get multiplayer going with friends.

The christmas update is still the latest version, Antonious. The Easter update hasn't ben released yet. There seems to have been some delay on Mike's end, but I don't know what the delay is as I haven't seen him online to speak to. We will post news items as soon as the update is released, and the updater will notify you as soon as the update is available.

I managed to speak to Mike last night. The delay has been caused by his work - he's been swamped by it ever since he came back from the week-long conference thing, and he won't be able to post the update until he clears his work backlog. That could be days, but it could be weeks. The update IS coming, he just needs to keep his boss happy first.
