Haha loving the Christmas tree and the Easter bunny pic, after a few weeks of playing around with the game, I backed off for a few months; in its current pre-alpha state there's only so much that can be done over and over until it gets a little boring. So now I've come back for a little while to see how things are progressing, and I'm liking the looks of things. Reading through this thread, the update should be an interesting one and I can't wait to find out what the surprise(s) is/are!

Es muy caliente! I love it. At this rate, we won't need the bunny rabbit anyway.

Cinco de Mayo or (5th of May) is Mexico’s Independence Day, but here is the US we use it as an excuse to get drunk, and party for our shared happiness for our boarder brothers to the south. Normally the rest of the year the US could care less about them other then politically. Unless you live in Texas, California or New Mexico.. but it is a way to show our love for Global diversity

My family and i are british, so we celebrate it as another one of the many french defeats at the hands of people who were not as technologically advanced as France. They never seem to win except in civil wars, in which they are only fighting themselves anyway.
And the excuse that is another day to party.

Strange. Could you try doing a fresh unzip of the game and then running the updater again?

Could you update the full download link for the game, Mike? It still points to the previous release version. As i've said in the past, people have contacted me about problems with the auto-updater so a full download would help them avoid the problems they've encountered. I'm downloading the update at the moment, but it's going to take a while coz it's only going at 40kb/s at the mo. I guess a lot of people are downloading it.

My download was fine. I like what you have done with the game. The first change i noticed was the music on the main screen.
Keep up the good work.

The May update makes a lot of changes - not all of them are immediately visible though. It includes: Added- Several new buildings to the game database.
- New images (Ships, buildings, etc)
- New music (Main menu...)
- 30+ new minor race ships to the game database. These won't be viewable until the AI and the combat system are implemented however. Check out This Thread if you want to see images of all of the minor race and Empire ships. 170+ more minor race ships will be added to the database in future updates.
- Added a rudimentary random events system (Only one random event is currently implemented, more will be coming in future and hopefully so will a random events editor)
- New menu options.
- Menus can now be animated. The option is turned off by default as this is still a new function and we don't know what sort of hardware demands it requires. Enable the "Enable dialog animations" and the "Enable screen transitions" options to turn these on.
Updated- The Cardassian shiplist, their ship stats, and their ship upgrade/obsoletion paths are now fully complete.
- The Federation shiplist, their ship stats, and their ship upgrade/obsoletion paths are now about 50% complete.
- Many of the buildings have updated stats, naming conventions and upgrade/obsoletion paths. These changes should also make it easier for people to make mods in future.
- The credits list now credits several more people for their generous help with the game, including AndrewJT, .Iceman, Jamie11, SJ2290, Valcoren, and Zulnak.
- Major behind-the scenes programming updates. These updates make the game more stable, and will make it easier for Mike to make future updates and additions for the game.
Removed- The glitchy Cardassian UI (UI ill be replaced in a future update, for the time being they will use the Federation one like the other Empires currently do)
- The annoying turn processing beep.
Bug Fixes- Map objects should no longer glitch. Instead of using animated gif images, the game now generates animated images itself. This unfortunately means that stars look dull and bland in the system screen, but the system will be tweaked to improve it in future.
- The random freeze bug has been fixed
- The crash when attempting to create a new map after retiring from a game has been fixed.
- Population blocks in the system build screen should now work and display correctly.
- Sliders should now work correctly in the Intel screen.
- The random sound glitch during turn processing should no longer occur.
- Menu selections should no longer appear behind the menu screen.
Known Problems- The editor no longer works.
- Preparing to downloading the update takes an unusually long time.
- Morale-improving orders (Martial Law, State Tribunal etc) can only be used once per system.
- You can only build two Orbital Batteries per system - one of your own, and one of the default, minor-race design.
- The redeploy screen does not update or close during turn processing. You must manually close and reopen it to update it.

Hello there, i´ve got a single but important problem, i can´t make the game start. When i choose the galaxy size, tech level, minor races, bla bla bla, then i press OK and then it keeps in "LOADING" for all the eternity. I don´t know what to do, i´ve reinstalled a fresh supremacytest, then updated again, but it seems that it doesn´t work. Did someone have the same problem ?? Or any idea what to do ??? Thanks in advance. Keep this great work, i really like what i have seen so far. Live long...

Hey ajel, welcome to the forums! You're the fourth person that has reported this problem now. The other three people, PunksterNL, viceadmiralv, and Overlord, posted about it in This Thread. We haven't yet figured out why it is happening though - 99% of people do not experience the problem you've mentioned. Mike just asked if you could try loading the game but set the amount of minor races to "none" though - let us know if the game loads or freezes when you try.

Hi @all... i just downloaded SupremacyTest_20080902.zip Version (.Net Framework 3.5 with SP1 already installed).
I started the game and played some single player rounds - wow what a great game. (yet no combat and it seems like no AI)
Then i updated the game using the ingame updater - getting two further updates.
After the last update i was not abled to load the saved game what is ok for me. I wanted to start a new single player game to test the latest update. The game begins "loading". After about 15 minutes the game is "loading". I ended the game using the task manager and tried it another time. (minimum galaxy size, no other races...) The game loaded for about 45 minutes until i ended it using the task manager. What can i do about it? I want to test the latest release to give feedback.
I use Windows XP with SP3!
I just saw three other postings with the same problem!
Additional i can say that exactly the same happened on my 2nd pc - windows vista SP1 - the originally downloaded game runs fine and after the update it does not load...
Both systems are running fully german. Vista is a Intel Core2Duo with ATI graphics - XP is a single core notebook (Intel) with ATI graphics.
May i send you any files out of the game (tracelogs if there are some)? May i assist you in hunting this failure?
My ClientLog.txt and Error.txt are empty. I am just deinstalling and reinstalling .Net Framework. I cleared my Log.txt and planning to start the game after reinstalling .Net...
Are you shortly abled to implement a simple tracelog in the "loading"-procedure. Just logging checkpoint1, checkpoint2, ... checkpointX into a Textfile bootup log to see when and how the error occurs?
Many greetings from germany to all trek fans in the world wide web. Markus

Several people have reported problems where the game hangs on the "Loading" screen (after starting a new game). Has anyone *not* had this problem?

Me. I've not had any problems with the game Mike, other than the false positives you already know about. It loads fine, I haven't had any crashes or hangs and i've even played Huge maps with dense planets, dense stars, and many minor races without problems. Incidentally the processing time on these maps is about 7 seconds. The only problem with huge maps is that the game runs out of Star names, and that's easily fixable by expanding the list of Star names. I've already greatly increased the number of Nebula names in this update. Attachment:
Log.txt [19.23 KiB]

If it helps, i've got a Pentium 4 Processor @3.2Ghz, 1Gb RAM, 228Gb Hard Drive, Sapphire Radeon x3850 HD 512Mb AGP Graphics Card, Catalyst 9.3 AGP Hotfix Drivers.

Disco music? I will check that out for myself. What song?
I have not experienced any problems. Like mattress said, it takes about 7 seconds to load, if that. I have played on the densest galaxies for races and systems and not had a problem yet.

There aren't any disco music files so he's lying, Jamie. I could always put in the Star Wars Disco theme though...

If you are experiencing a long waiting period while the updater is "Preparing download...", you can try replacing your HttpDownloader.dll with this one.

I'm getting a problem where after I update I get the "SupremacyClient has stopped working" message any time I try to run it. Tried a fresh unzip a few times too.
