I'm wondering if there is a way to increase the resolution for the original BOTF. I'm using BOTF 1.0.2 while I wait for BOTF2 to be complete. There is a MPR tool that allows you to run screen tests at higher res. (pictured below.) Is it possible to force the game into a higher res using these tags? (At the time of this post I'm experimenting myself, but would like someone with more know-how to post!)

So far adding the tags -w and -res 2 to the path C:\*\botf102\trek.exe does nothing. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong. I hope someone can figure this out!

There's no way to increase the resolution to my knowledge, but i'd love it too if there was a way. Your best bet is to pop over to our ex-parent site, Armadafleetcommand.com and ask them if anyone knows how to do it. Make sure you mention the program you posted images of above. Even if it's not currently possible, your idea might spur people to look into the possibility of doing it. There have been some major modding breakthroughs with BOTF in the last year or two, including increasing the maximum map size and getting Phasers to work on modded ship models in combat. Even 10 years after the game was first released, the modding community is seriously dedicated to their work.

Check out the downloads section of AFC. You'll need to sign up for an account AND log in before you can access their downloads section though, as it is account-restricted. Check out the mods section for mods and the tools section for tools that you can use for editing the game with. I highly recommend the Ultimate Dominion mod, but you might want to use the Multi-installer mod 1.03 as that installs all of the mods for you in one package. And if you want to mod the game, DCER's Ultimate Editor is a must.

Thunderchero has posted a thread with links that you'll find useful Here.

Incidentally, a quick trawl of the forums shows that Gowron and co are working on ways to increase the number of planets a system can have. (It's already known how to increase planetary population sizes, you can do it with the Ultimate Editor; Gowron and co are working on having the game physically generate systems with more than 7 inhabitable planets at a time)

Can you help me out? I joined the forums but I don't have any access. When I try to retrieve password it says my email isn't registered. When I try to sign up again it says my email is already registered.

You have to click an activation link that was sent to your email address; it's a standard secrity feature we also use on these forums. Check your spam messages just in case it got filtered.

If you've already clicked the link, it might be the site is just being a little slow at updating your registration status, ro you didn't click it properly. Try logging in again, and if it still gives you the error message let me know and i'll speak to Jig or Thunderchero for you; they can force activation of accounts. I'm not an admin on AFC so can't check the problem myself, sorry.

I've done everything you say. I never did get an activation email, spam or otherwise. My email was input correctly. Not sure what happened, but it's no matter. Maybe you can take my screen repost the relevant part of this thread on the forums there yourself?

What screen name did you use on those forums? I'll send a message to the admin for you. You'd be better at writing the post as you know what that program actually does.
