I noticed among the minor & major races structures that some structures are written at singular and plural. WARNING these structures are not like the empires structures that can be constructed in quantity such the of food, energy, intelligence, industry structures and orbital batteries.

the minor races structures can be built once. Per example, when i talk about the El-Aurian Cooperative, it's only one structure. When i talk about the Evora Mediators, it's only one structure (but written at the plural). I think that all the structures written in the plural must be written in the singular.

I would propose the following list (only for these structures):

AKAALI: Farming Communes ---> Farming Communes Group
ANTICANS: Hunting Paddocks ---> Hunting Paddocks Net
ARDANANS: Zenite Mines ---> Zenite Mines Gallery

I've been writing an uber-post about this since you first posted yesterday, starfleet. I had it ready by 11pm last night, but you went and made the edits and added all of the empires structures in the time that it took me to write the post, so I had to expand on it further. It looks like you've made another edit as well since the last time I checked here though. You're making my reply even harder! :brickwall: :lol:

I've had a busy two days, which is why I haven't posted much on the forums over the last two days. This is also means that I haven't been able to write my reply all in one session. I'm writing this quick post just to let you know that i'm not ignoring you; I in fact noticed it only about 10 minutes after you first posted it. I've just been too busy to give it my full attention. I'll post the full reply once i've finished typing it up, but that likely won't be until tomorrow now.

Just to let you know though, I looked at every suggestion you've made and mulled them over. For the most part, I didn't like the changes you've suggested either. The names for the structures were decided on for a number of reasons, and no one has "complained" about the names until now. I did however accept that a small number of the names could or should be changed, although where I conceded this, it doesn't necessarily mean I accepted your suggested name either. You'll have to read what i've written to understand what I mean. I have written a paragraph on the reasons for or against any changes for every single structure in your list. It isn't quite finished yet though and i'm going to be busy for the rest of the night, which is why I said it won't be ready until tomorrow.

I apologize if you did not well understand what I proposed :sad: . In fact I made it in a precise purpose and I am based on what kind of sentences:

Foreign agents have bombed 1 %Structure% in sector %Sector% in %System% system. The structure will have to be rebuilt.

example for the structures written in plural:
(logic want that the event is written this way in the game)

Foreign agents have bombed 1 Ramatian Mediators in sector b9 in Sol system. The structure will have to be rebuilt.

or

Foreign agents have bombed 1 Atmospheric Condensers in sector b9 in Sol system. The structure will have to be rebuilt.

(Do you really want that it is written as it in the game?)

In order to respect the ethics of grammar, I thought of a prefix in the singular to improve the grammatical sense of sentences. This could have this kind of sentence:

Foreign agents have bombed 1 Ramatian Mediators Team in sector b9 in Sol system. The structure will have to be rebuilt.

or

Foreign agents have bombed 1 Atmospheric Condensers Battery in sector b9 in Sol system. The structure will have to be rebuilt.

I'm sorry if you do not like but it's just for a simple principle.

Damn, I wish you'd mentioned this before I wrote my uberpost. The problems with the grammar aren't that bad; BOTF actually suffered from the exact same problem and hardly anyone batted an eyelid about it. Yes, it's a mistake, but people generally don't play a game because they want to check for grammatical errors. In my experience, people that speak English are sloppy about tenses anyways. It might not be the same with other languages, such as your native French, which is why you picked up on this when we didn't. Obviously it would detract slightly from the quality "feeling" of the game though to those that do notice such things.

The easiest fix for this would be a programming one; if 1 of a structure has been destroyed, then the game should say "a" (structure name) or "the" (structure name) instead of "1" (structure name). The tenses would make sense then, without requiring a rewrite of the building names. I'll write a PM to Mike to notify him of this. :smile:

I also have a backup solution, rather than rewriting the names of the construction. In section: Sabotage reports Dafedz's database, add this type of sentence (for example):

  Foreign agents killed some Ramatian mediators in the Sector B9 in the system Sol. (because there is some structures written in the plural who are composed of people such Hazari Raiders, Evora Mediators, Agents Shadow ... etc.)

  Foreign agents bombed some Atmospheric Condensers in the Sector B9 in the system Sol. The structures will be rebuilt. (for all other structures written in the plural) which will allow to do not rewrite the names of the constructions.

If you quote someone, ensure that the quote is precisely what the person said, starfleet; What you quoted wasn't exactly what I said.

By the way, if you manually type the bbcodes - [/b] for example - make sure that you DON'T put spaces in them - such as [ /b] - because the forums won't recognise them as bbcodes. I just edited your post and corrected the code mistakes. Hope you don't mind.

As I said though, rewrites are not necessary as long as Mike programs the game to recognise when a structure is singular (Just 1 structure was affected in the message) or plural (More than 1 structure was affected). This would avoid the problem entirely.

Yes these are just grammatical situations which can be easily addressed with a little work to organise the nature and syntax of the structure in order to devise a sentence that correctly displays the pertinent Intel event:

eg.

For a structure categorized as singular:

Quote:
Foreign agents have bombed the Palace of Edo in sector Rubicon. The structure will have to be rebuilt.


For a structure categorized as plural:

Quote:
The Corvallen Corsairs have been compromised by foreign agents, and will need to be re-established.

or

The Mokra Workshops have been bombed by foreign agents, and will need to be replaced.

or

The Zenite Mines have been destroyed by foreign agents, and will need to be restored.

Yes very good, these kind of sentence are excellent, Dafedz. Thanks. You found the good syntaxs. Now, there is 2 kind of structures more added:

People's Group----> Mediators------------>have been killed by foreign agents, and will need to be replaced.

Fighter Squadron---->Raiders------------>have been destroyed by foreign agents, and will need to be rebuild them.

The 3 examples below are good
