Do you mean that you like the larger antimatter injector at the middle bottom? CB

Well, I meant the angle of the...arms...I don't remember what they're called off-hand, but they leak steam (plasma?) when the ships take heavy damage in the shows/movies. They look like they're in perspective, towards a vantage point. The Science display looks nice, too.

I meant the one with the orange glow in the Dilithium Chamber and the Blue glow from the lumpy round bits above and below as being the one that was turned "on", Captain. Yes, the new image is more to my liking. I agree with Alcathor, the angled arms make it look more like it is in perspective, which is why I said I preferred it in the first place. Damn your spheres/atoms have improved since the last image you emailed me though. The Biotech image is fantastically improved because of it. Matress approves of improvement.

Biotech is excellent, don't change anything! Well I feel that propulsion still needs some work. I will elaborate later I'm in hurry now.

Zeleni - The only thing I want to do on the Biotech was try to give the mesh flask a thickened rim at the top. I think it also needs the sloping portion to be taller relative to the vertical portion. I know I know, why did I post it? To get reaction before I went to all the work of trying to get a thickened rim. I think I know what you are going to say about the Propulsion image and I agree. Simplify it. The simplicity of the BioTech is appealing. Here is one idea. Even though I personally love some of the mesh detail on the angled warp core, I am considering making it larger and losing some of it off image. Make it the only background mesh. Then also just 3 other images. A very prominent unpowered warp core. A full view powered warp core (top to bottom) and the antimatter injector (fairly large to see the top detail on it). Matress - The other warp core is more brightly lit up with the rippled blue which I also thought made it look like it was on. I can go back to the orange in the dilithium chamber if you like. No problems mates. These are important images and have to be perfect. CB

I've split these posts out of the Supremacy Manual thread. I also split your final post in there into two, Captain, so you have a relevant post at the end of the Supremacy Manual thread and the new Tech Images thread.

Here are two simpler Propulsion images. They look good in the game. CB

Thanks, I think so too. I played with the flask some in BioTech but haven't figured out how to thicken the rim. Maybe I'll just leave it alone. Here is a screenshot of the images in my game... so far. CB

Hmm, maybe throw away flask, clone molecules, make them completly green grided, scale them up, rotate them and arrange behind the colorful molecules, maybe effect would be better.

I would personally choose Energy B out of the three images. I prefer the larger green-line diagram that you used in Energy A and B, but I don't like the shadowing of the structure in Energy A. Whilst you would expect shadows to form due to the bright light source in the containment unit, it just looks...wrong, somehow. If I could suggest ways to improve it further, I would say that it might look cool if light seemed to be streaming out of the containment field, perhaps by adding a camera flare effect or perhaps by adding light rays streaming out of it. That might look a little too much though hehe. Thinking more technically, perhaps some sort of computer monitor showing energy level readings would be a fitting addition to the image, as currently there's nothing really showing *what* the energy production is about. Or maybe you could add a background chart showing some sort of Treknobabble theory, a bit like the original BOTF image. A Google for some suggestion images came up with these:

For all the Romulans out there. I built a Quantum Drive thanks to images from Alcathor. Thanks dude. I took a few minor liberties with the drawing but I think it came out better. I dropped it into the Propulsion Tech Image. This would make the propulsion image have a broader application in the game than even the old one. I include a bigger picture of the drive so you can see the detail. The Quantum Drive has 3 injectors around the outside that fire at the middle of the core. Matress, all good suggestions. So is the issue that you can't tell it is energy research as clearly as you'd like? I think I might try dropping the station and light it up with flare like you said. Technobabble too if I can. CB

sphere shape is too boxy, apply smooth modifier or add few extra polys.

Hmm looks like you've got some transparency issues in the Energy E image. I'll see if I can clean it up in M$ Paint for you. Edit: - I've sorted the transparency issue for you. Unfortunately, the image needs a tad more work though, because the light ray effect barely shows up ingame. And in fact the green line diagram from the Biotech image don't work very well either for the same reason. Here's what I mean: The green line diagram lines are either so light in colour that they're not easily showing up, or they need to to be thickened a bit. I'll see what I can do for that image too. *Edit the second: - Ok, this is what i've come up with: And ingame:

Wow, I love what you did with Biotech! Awesome. The varied green tones might be considered for all of them (continuity). I think I love what you did with the Energy image except it is so subtle I can't tell. Kind of like one of those puzzles where you look for 5 things that are different from one picture to the other. I can see that the center of the reaction is more yellow. Also the windows on the station are blackened out. What else? Define "transparency issue".
And I have been dying to know what the Romulan Overlord of Evil thinks about the Quantum reactor... At least the idea if nothing else. I will work on the smoothing of the chamber. The problem is that the way the chamber is built, the surface puckers in (very unattractively) when I turn on smoothing. I will have to build it another way. There may be one solution I haven't tried yet though.
By the way, the green in all my images is eyedropper exactly the same. Yet I noticed they appear different colors. I think it is an optical illusion, greener the higher the line density.
Thanks for your work. CB

Hehe thanks Captain. The shadowing effect was actually pretty easy to do because the green-line beaker was a very simple image. I also only used four green colours to do it. It'll be much harder to do it in the Energy image because that image is far more complex, especially with the light rays beaming across it. If we can't unify the images to all have a shadowing effect like that, then I can always redo it in a single colour like the originals, although i'll keep the extra lines that I added as part of the beaker to ensure it remains visible ingame. I'm going to have to redo the energy one as well tonight - I just noticed a transparency problem with the reflections on the reactor (Compare the dome bit at the bottom and the four reflective sections near the top-left of your original image and my last version) Ignoring that though, the main differences between your original image and my last version are that i've removed the transparency issue on the right-hand side of the image, i've lightened the colour of the light rays so they stand out more and i've sharpened and cleaned up the formula bit so it stands out better. As for the Quantium Singularity drive, sorry I didn't mention it earlier I was so focused on this image I didn't notice. Yes, I like the structure, and it would be nice to see it ingame. Have a go at adding it to the image and see what you can come up with. Now i've gotta go. I'm off doing evil things all day. (At Drayton Manor Theme Park)

So the transparency problem is that the green wire frame image shows through the plasma fusion reaction along the right side of the image? Why don't you fix the non light ray version wire frame, either send it to me for the ray effect or use a program of your own to add your own ray effect and fix that. And did you mean to black out the windows on the station part? I also found two equations that actually go with a fusion reaction. It would be nice to put one on there.
Have fun at the Park!

Err no. Here's the two images. I've hilighted where the problems are in red. They're both .jpg's for simplicity which is why the size and colour disparities. The left-hand one is the one that you made. I made the background white so the problem would actually show up. The right-hand one is the one I made with the transparency issues that I mentioned highlighted by the three red circles; the reflections are the same colour as the background colour, so they were included as part of the transparency, which means dark colours will show through where it shouldn't. In fact, I had to do the exact same thing to the centre of the energy ball, which is why it looks a slightly different colour between the two images - it *is* a different colour. All that needs to be done is to change the white reflective areas to a subtly different hue in M$ Paint as I did with the energy ball. Thanks, I did have fun. I got spun and thrown around til I was dizzy and then went back for more. ...And then I had a slightly embarrassing phone call telling me that my interview for a job that I really wanted was successful and that i've got the job. I say embarrassing because I was sitting on a wooden horse from a Victorian Carousel at the time of the phone call whilst fair ground music was playing. God only knows what sort of impression that gave my new boss! Edit - reflections fixed.
