This forum adds white where there is transparent. The prior image gives you some idea how it will look in the UI. The other question is how it will look in our combat engine. I added back the transparent quality when it was converted to .3ds file using Ultimate Unwrap. We still do not know how the combat engine will deal with it. Attachment:

Interesting I see white when I am in one location online and transparent at anther on a different computer. This must be Borg technology.

Transparencies are a relatively new addition to browsers. I believe support for transparencies was added in IE6 and Firefox 2. I used to have problems viewing transparencies myself until those programs were updated. Chrome has always supported transparencies. Ensure your programs are up to date, and if it still doesn't work then switch to Chrome.

Thanks Z If anyone is looking for some art work to do there is an extra project I have. Stupid me. I learned, after making all these .png ship and station images for the game, that we can not have anything reach the edge of the frame. When the 270 x 225 .png image is taken into the user interface it can end up on a background that is larger than 270 x 225. In the image above the weapons fire can not reach to the edge. There are a number of models online at SharePoint that need their .png re-rendered. It would take time from my model work for me to do it. If you would like to try your hand then a program like Blender could be used to load the .3ds model file and saved a 270 x 225 .png render. The 2D art work I have seen here is very impressive. Let me know if you are interested and I can point you in the write direction with SharePoint and the programs.

This is the Giant Amoeba so far. I will upload the model in a bit and then move onto something new. We can always come back to it if there is time. It comes in at 3,564 polys or 564 over our limit for ships. To wrap each of the pseudo-pods into the mesh would push the count off the charts. It could be more complex if it did not move in the combat engine. I will scale it up larger than the crystalline entity and an outpost but a little smaller than a star base.

The Husnock are listed in our Alien Entities, Structures and Monsters for a model to run in the combat engine. I am thinking they might get a big ship. Does any one have any other idea for these guys?

Kenneth, about the Federation Transport II, i thought at a transport class who would be adequate for the TOS period. What you think about the Ptolemy Class, for example?

The aliens and entities are rare, one-off models Kenneth, so going over the poly limit isn't that big an issue. Unless we're talking waaay over the limit. The Amoeba looks good so far. As for the Husnock, they were from BOTF, so you could try Googling images and make a model based on that.

I am working on a mesh of the Conestoga Class Colonyship model. It needs more detail work but at least I got started. Matress, back when he use to come to the forum, wanted this ship to replace our TOS era ship for Federation Colonyship I. The old one was the USS Zeleni so the new one will be named the same in the model texture. As I work through the second pass on the Federation ships I will rename them .Iceman, Captain Bashier, Starfleet, Vjeko, Valcoren and anyone else I forgot to mention.

Yes, I will name a ships after you. Besides the Zeleni we have a Strobel and a MOE in the Federation fleet.

Those are very nice. I can see the 3D models they built will have a poly count a few times our limit though. We could use the images to build one of our own versions of it.

That was my intention, and the good thing is that you have pictures from all angles and I believe that that helps.

Yes. Those side and top views can be used as background while you build the mesh. Tanks a lot, I mean thanks a lot.

Ooh it's nice to see you're making progress on the Conestoga Ken. I think Jig would like to see it as well, I believe he made a model of it once for BOTF. Incidentally, the green colouration in the image makes it look like an image from a very early TOS episode (Pre-remastering). I've noticed many of the special effects had weird psychedelic colourations and the image seems to replicate that.

Well I believe that this is just a working version without textures and that the final version will look better. I don't know if I posted this here but just in case: http://drexfiles.wordpress.com/2009/05/ ... conestoga/ few concept pics of it: http://johneaves.wordpress.com/2009/05/ ... conestoga/Conestoga from few angles And updated ECS Horizon, J-class cargo beauty we could use as a early transport. http://drexfiles.wordpress.com/2009/05/24/ecs-horizon/

J-cargo was my candidate for minor races generic transport ship but this is long time away for now, first 2d structures and ships of major races will be redone and updated, minors are on the bottom of the stack.

I've added the work I've made so far on the Conestoga texture, It's not how it will look in the final version because I've just ovelayed a picture with my current work.

OK. I will put in a credit file that sounds something like this: Original concept and model by Doug Drexler http://drexfiles.wordpress.com/2009/05/ ... conestoga/Low poly model for STS by Kenneth of Borg Retextured for STS by vjeko1701

I wouldn't be so sure about that, Kenneth. Remember the demographic we're catering for; Trekkies. Chances are they'll be searching for the Enterprise, but they'll be searching. And they will see.
