Terrific. It's coming together. And you are right about the duct work. I started making indentations that circled the ducts and the program crashed and I lost the work. I have also played with aluminum looking textures but they were so bright at first that it was very distracting. Then I started thinking that Cardassian technology wouldn't necessarily use aluminum for air ducts so I just played around with the other idea. It bugs me too so I'll probably move in the direction of something more duct-ish. C Bashir

I think you are right. It will look better that way.

Some more detail work and and a new Romulan figure has been added. (Where is Waldo?) The weapon needs a Romulan makeover and someone to hold it.

The model has become so large that my old PC can not keep up with the renders. I was due for a replacement anyway. The order is in. It should be more than enough to run Supremacy.

Tell us all about the new system. Congratulations. You are doing a beautiful job on the image. It is certainly not an easy one. CB esquire.

About the system: The key feature is an Intel Core i7-720QM Quad Core processor with Turbo Boost linked with a 1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 320M video card for i7 Processors. That is in the higher end of general production machines. You could spend more but you would be getting into the diminishing returns end of the curve.

My computer philosophy exactly. I gave up on spending the extra money for the pen ultimate latest stuff because in a month it wasn't the latest and the price dropped drastically (they got me about twice on this mistake - never again). I try to listen for news from Intel on new processors and price drops, wait for it to happen and then buy the stuff they are trying to sell off. It is still way faster than what I would currently be running. Usually keep my system for 2 - 4 years depending on what is going on. The two biggest movements in the industry right now are USB 3.0 (already appearing on motherboards) and (somewhat older) solid state hard drives. The latter REALLY speed up your system, especially if you "RAID stripe" a pair of them. Your system should handle all those polygons with style.

Some progress on the Tal Shiar background, a low res view.
That is Juna down there. She will end up holding the Romulan weapon.

We have to thank Rogper for the model. He is making it available to use on the Blender Artist's Forum. He gets a line in our credits. http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=169042She is why I ordered a new PC. The model is very high poly and I need a faster system to give her an armature. She comes without the armature that is needed to pose her holding the weapon. I am working on that while giving her those Romulan ears and uniform. She still needs a more Romulan haircut.

Hmmm, I need to find a freebie person in Lightwave. Could save a boatload of time. Captain.

I can export her to .lwo but it will be without some of the nice blender features. It is going to take some work but with luck I can have it online for you in 24 hours.

OK, here she is. I hope she came out with enough of her parts intact that you can use the file. It is compressed in .7z That is what Mike wants us to use now when we load to Share Point so I try to use it for everything. JunaDo take good care of her. She does not belong to me and I would hate to see her get hurt.

Tried to use Juna this weekend but the file won't load. However, I am still working on learning to draw characters and am making progress. I appreciate your effort Kenneth. CB

I will tray again but this time only export the body mesh for Juna. That may eliminate whatever the exporter can not deal with. She is one complex girl. I need to get to a different PC to do it later today. It will just be Juna in the buff.
In the mean time I have also been working on Mr. Low Res Centurion. He will be at a distance and in the process of transporting so his low resolution look will not show through like it does here. (That is a 2.8 on the Resosity slider)

OK, here she is in a .7z zip.(below the picture) It is only the basic body mesh (even without eyeballs.) I took off all the special stuff blender does to make a basic a mesh look good. Hopefully she can save you some work and you can make here bueatiful again in lightwave.

Thanks Kenneth. I'll try her out.
My recollection of the Romulan uniform is that it looks a little oversized on top. Almost like they still have the hanger in the shoulders. Light wave would let me scale the upper torso larger. Can you do that in Blender? Having said that, you're doing incredible stuff here. Most impressive. Captain.

Cool, in the original model the clothing was added as seperate objects. That was right down to her underwear. She even has a mouth with tunge and full set of teeth.

Did you rebuild clothing from scratch or alter what was on her? Perhaps a little of both. Bashir

Do you guys realise you're building a woman? This thread has to be the very definition of nerdiness.
