Yes, it is a great little program. I do like the Ultimate Unwrap as well. The plug-in for conversion has helped a lot.

Right now I am using Blender to make the backdrops for the Romulan Tal Shiar. That is nice because you have so much more control over lighting. You can also create animation as I did in that "trailer" for Supremacy on YouTube.

When I start working back through the models blender will come in handy You can make really nice renders for the ingame .png images.

I got permission to use these Xindi models

http://armada2.filefront.com/file/Xindi ... ONLY;94146
http://armada2.filefront.com/file/Xindi ... ONLY;94148

with some modifications they would be great for our game.

http://armada2.filefront.com/file/Xindi ... ONLY;94145
we have another version of this, but here are some refits. We could use some of them.

http://armada2.filefront.com/file/Xindi ... ONLY;94149
this one would need a texture, but I found one textured and I am still waiting creator's permission.

These models are made by Paul 'Avon' and Ash, they should be credited for them.

Also I got permission to use this great Ent era Rom BoP model.

http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/fi ... _BOP;32670

by Anduril

I am converting them to our format and enhancing textures where needed.
It would be good to add one section in the game credits "Contributors" under which we would credit those who gave us permission to use their models but are not team members.

Converted, Xindi textures enhanced, images created.

That looks great. I am not in a position to work on the models myself right now but do put credit for the model in a text file in the model folder. You can find examples of this in some of the model files on Sharepoint. Also add the model credits to the game credits document. It is hidden in the game credits folder on the first page of Sharepoint here -

On the road - have to run

Good stuff Vjeko, my recommendation is to focus now on things that we are doing now, slims drawings and race images... 3d models and renders I would left for the time when is finish what we started.

I found them by accident, and it was the first time I saw Xindi Primate and Areborial ship models.

Great, it's nice to finally have more than one decent Xindi model. Although I think the guy has dyslexia, he called his Arboreal model an Ardobeal model in both images.

The Arboreal model could actually work as a Cardassian model too if we were short.

As Kenneth said, the Credits list is located in the Game Credits Folder. Just right-click on and download the .txt file, add any names or credit sections that are needed to the list, then save it (Without changing the file name) and upload it to the same folder. It will automatically overwrite the old one (As long as the file name is the same)

As a coincidental illustrative point, Kenneth uploaded a file called Credits1.txt a few weeks ago. Since the filename was different, it didn't overwrite the old file and uploaded as a new one. I used Winmerge to check for differences between the two files, then corrected the original file and deleted the excess one.
As it happens, he had added a single new name to the credits. But as a the list is growing ever larger, it would've been difficult to notice this small change without the use of a file comparison program like Winmerge.

Hi guys,
I'll be working on the images in the 'In game images' folder on sharepoint to remove lighting effects so that the edge of the frame is black.
I've already done the Cardassians and Dominion, and I'll soon finish up the Feds Klingons, Borg and Romulans. Do we want the minor races done too? There's a ton of non-canon ships in there is all.

Many of the minor races have never had canon designs, even though we know they either have them (they were hinted at but never shown), or we can logically assume that they had ships of *some* kind (eg. because we know the race has colonies in other systems etc).

In these cases, we've made them Warp capable and used non-canon designs to fill in the gaps.

Oh yes, definitely true. I recognised some Babylon 5 ships (well, maybe just one) and Space: Above and Beyond. Anyway, I'll do all the images :)

Many of the models that we have are stop-gap designs; we've just been grabbing what we can get permission to use whilst we work on making something better. But making models is a time-consuming process, and we need something like 400+ models with the current shiplist, so we're going to have to just turn a blind eye to the Babylon invaders for the time being lol.

Once I've finished sorting out the images, I can work on 3D models if you like.

Complete shiplist was made by dafedz upon my design document which is only aim was collecting raw data for creating the game shiplist: Unfortunately Defedz created ship stats without filtering out numerous irrelevant ships classes (that's why we have 400 ships). Our minors shiplist has little value and shouldn't be taken seriously cause it will undergo serious changes in future. Actually number of minors ships is much lower, maybe 60-70 and we have already 20-25 canon models in the stock. For instance, Suliban cell ship is going to be removed defenetly... the reason is simple and logical, cell ships is 3m x 3m in size and it's silly to have it in game cause it's fire power is irrelevant in comparison with dominion battlecruiser which has length cc 2 000m and on other hand it would be difficult to see such small ship in combat. Also, there is high number of fictional classes never seen or mentioned in star trek world, such classes are big problem for modelers cause they don't have source for modeling and they have to made up complete design matching canon designs for particular race. Such classes will add nothing trekkie to the game. Also, idea of having unique colony and transport ships for every spacefaring race IMO is bad, this should be changed. Models place holders from other SF shows should be removed, keeping them we are ruining all good stuff that we made regarding canonicity of this game, in one aspect of game we have the names of all planets in Vulcan, Andorian or Angosian system, which is great but that is ruined once player sees the Star Wars ship on galactic map.

I'm a newcomer so this is where I get confused. Are the files on sharepoint finalized ship models? It would be really good to have a list of ships and their current model status (if there isn't one already)

but Suliban should have at least these two

http://drexfiles.wordpress.com/2009/07/ ... n-cruiser/

http://drexfiles.wordpress.com/2009/07/ ... freighter/

and I know a good Suliban cruiser model we could get permission for, that leaves just the freighter.

The list on the first page of this thread are the working models we have on Sharepoint. The list as it stands now was created in a rush back when we had a combat engine that ran in XP. Finding we needed to convert the combat engine to run in Vista W7 it turns out there was no need to rush. We will be re-working.

Thanks for working on the 2D images. Seeing as the models will be reworked and the 2D replaced as we go I would say no. Do not rework the 2d images for minors. A working 2d image for the majors will be all we need for now. We expect that the game will be playable without the 3D version of the combat engine first so it still is nice to have good looking 2D images in the game.

Thanks for the offer to work in 3D models. How are your 3D model skills? When I first started I was just learning modeling. If I was just getting started now I would say work on minor race ships. If you are a good modeler doing the major races now would be OK.

Have to run - I need to get ready for my little part in the TV show Freshman tomorrow. I hope it turns out to be a good show but I will not really know until it begins to air this next season.

Yeah, Kenneth has said all along that he's an actor. That's how he's been able to mingle with the Trek Stars. He posted pics of himself at the Trek opening night in another thread.

I'v seen dozens of Gorn ships all over the internet but this is the ship which I want in the game, it is a perfectly Gornish. Yes, texture is cartoonish (we will fix it) but shape and color palette is excellent. What do think?

Fair enough :) Is that ship not canon though?
Edit: not the 3D model, but the blurry screen image that shows the dual nacelle shape.

I've modified the images for the Borg, Federation and Romulans and they're all on sharepoint. I didn't delete the old ones yet, just in case.
vjeko let me know that we're now trying to replace some 3D model images with images of the ships from the shows where possible, he's sent me a new bundle of Federation and Klingon ships, but some are shots are inferior to the current ones, so I'll go through and keep the best ones. There's also a few conflicts about the particular model. i.e. the types of ship looks to be completely different in some cases. I'll post the differences here so we can decide which ones to keep.
