Excellent.....
Although I personly have a massive issue with the "Honey I Blew Up The BOP" from TNG.
Early in TNG they didn't have much money, they wanted a ship be a potential challenge to the Ent-D, and all they had was the K'Tinga model and the BOP. They figured even though the K'Tinga was at least intended as a cruiser, something that was on par with Kirk's ship should never match the Ent-D so they regrettably were forced to scale up the BOP. This was rectified later in TNG with the awesome Vor'Cha, but by then it was too late.......
By the time DS9 was produced, since the Vor'Cha was an established class, the BOP was reverted to it's design size for all appearances. We never saw a big BOP in DS9, and to be fair DS9 featured more Klingon ships than any other show by a factor of hundreds.
I prefer to think that when we see the Big BOP in early TNG we are either seeing a small BOP, a Vor'Cha, or maybe an as yet unseen Heavy Cruiser. If you give the concept any real thought you realise how completely ridiculous it is.
Can some good designer not design a Heavy Cruiser that is roughly BOP shaped to replace this abomination?

Are the ship images on Sharepoint up to date, Kenneth? If so, where have Vjeko's images come from? While they aren't necessarily our exact models, they're very clean, high quality images and it would be a shame to waste them.

@ Kenneth - the ship models we have are all in TNG style, as you can see there are distinct differences in ship styles between eras, don't worry about the models, every good model we can use will be used even if retextured for a minor race.
If you want I can write which of my proposed ships models we have, because I spent an entire week on Filefront searching for good models and asking permission for them.
@ SonOfMogh - I do partially agree with you, but not all races behave the same as the feds which have more than 100 different designs. Klingons are warriors and ships designs are lasting in their navy. "Just refit the old design and you have a new warship." This fits us the best, rescale, retexture and give diffetent weapons to the same model and we save both time and stick to canon. Everyone wins and we have 5 ships from one model

Thanks for getting more models. That is great. You can upload those to Sharepoint please. Yes, do save the old model as it might be OK to reuse in a minor with some rework. Just leave the old model online where it is and mark the new as version two. Lets leave the old ones there for now please because I really would like to take a close look at the underlying models, not just the png image, before we make a final decision. Upgrade the png though when you have a better image of the same ship. Also do that for the model Thread and image library on sharepoint so we can keep track. There are a few things that can be making the older images not look as good. One is the limit of resolution. When you put it in the required 270 x 225 .png it is low resolution. If the model is over the 5,000 poly count it will look better but we can not use it in combat. You can use a better rendering tool as is found in blender. That is a big one. It looks like we already have a better model for the Heavy Cruiser II, Surveyor I, Scout II and Transport II and III. I would leave those as primary models IMO at this time. We can take a closer look later.

Well a lot of them aren't finished (as pointed out they need to be textured or retextured), and they are all in wrong formats because they were for BC, Armada, Starfleet command....... Most of the preTOS, TOS and TMP ships came from this thread viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3546in that case zeleni has the models, but he is very busy at the moment and he probably doesn't have the time to upload them. I made these pictures for this update using pictures from the above thread, and using renders of ships for which we don't have finished model from Doug's blog or google. I think that for now it's better to use images of higher quality models just to leave better impression since we don't have a functional combat engine. EDIT: I have edited the first thread with some of the old models, changed the function for some, I hope that the shiplist is slowly forming the final verison for the next update.

While I agree that we are using small images, the image resolution isn't necessarily the problem, Kenneth. The images shouldn't be made natively in that resolution. Make them at larger resolutions, than reduce them to the required dimensions in Irfanview or whatever image program that you prefer. Subtle details in the images might be preserved that way if you're not already doing it.
I recently finished sorting through all of the images that I have, thanks to a rather nice image update that Vjeko sent me a few days ago. I've added in his latest - usable - Klingon ship images from above. I'll zip it up and send it to him and Zeleni to make sure we've all got roughly the same image setups. Zeleni has been doing a ton of work on the images behind the scenes and the Supremacy release is going to be a very large update, but it'll be worth it.

Ok I have some bad news, the transport models were familiar to me so I checked. This model is taken from Armada II and these two use it's texture, and have some parts from it: I suggest we remove the models from sharepoint.

I knew they were from Armada, it's the Dilithium freighter. But I thought we had permission to use it? It's a damn shame if we don't.

We got permission from the person that put it online. The problem is they do not always own up to where they got it. We can replace them if they are compromised in that way.

Can't we just ask Activision if we can use their models? I mean, Armada II was what a 2003 release? I think it may just be old enough to justify asking "hey can we use your models for our fan project?" I suppose we could just find a phone number and call them... these models are just too great to be deleted. I mean, they're perfect. I think we should do everything in our power to keep the models first. I will be quite saddened if we have to delete the models.

We could but it looks like there are other models out there that are as good or better. I do like some of the lines on the later transports, II and III, so that is something I might work with if the time comes.

I'm trying to find canon ones to replace them. There are two canon designs, one is a retextured Cardassian cargo ship, and the second one is a redress of the merchantman. Possible Transport II Possible Transport III If we choose to have this designs, the best thing is that they are canon and we just need to retexture models we already have (in case of Transport II add two elements to the model.)

I don't recognise the first ship - it actually looks like something from Star Wars to me.
The second ship though, the Groumal, is actually quite a famous design, and it was recycled several times throughout Trek. I think it was heavily used as a Cardassian vessel as well. We should actually already have a model of it somewhere. We were going to have it in as one of the Klingon Freighters. It would be a travesty not to have it in the game from a canon perspective.

The first one is this model: just retextured, enlarged, removed the side spikes and added the command tower. I already did the retexturing, I just need someone to add the command tower and remove the spikes. Attachment:

The second one just needs some retexturing, but I can't find the model.

Textured the Klingon Surveyor I model. It's still a bit simple, so Kenneth if you have any ideas on improving it........ I've also updated the first thread.

When I downloaded that file it turned out to be a different ship. I took the Cardassian Scout I, what we are using that model for, and worked on it. It is kind of a mixed up mesh under all that and rather simple. I did not want to take a lot of time to do a complete rebuild so just added an exposed bridge as you suggested. That part is textured in a new black 512 x 512 bmp image so you can work on it. Those side bars are gone as well. Let us hope this helps you.

The file I've uploaded, It's a "Small Bird of Prey" from the ENT Affliction episode to be used as a Surveyor I. I've textured the model I got a couple of months ago. Now working on D5 Attack Cruiser, our "Attack Cruiser I"

How do you refit a ship to be 20 times the original size, complete with massive windows that would be 4 decks tall.

Well we use that particular design only three times, and in all three cases we have a different model from a different author and none are just retextured models. Actually, every Klingon ship has it's own unique model, even the "Battle cruiser" lineage, starting with D4 battle cruiser, over D6 to D7 and then K'Tinga with all ships having unique models with noticeable differences.
