The background planet (Romulus) is textured with our Romulus texture and it could be a good ingame eye candy. Of course, you can build the OBs and SYs in other systems - other than Romulus / other homeworlds I mean. So the planet in the background is not really important. And these are the pics for the pedia, right? The object alone is fine, just like ships do not have backgrounds.

Yeah, but people like eye candy, if at least one player stops while playing and says "Hey, it's Romulus, the same one as in the system screen. Cool" Then it's worth it, plus, you are more likely to first colonize the moons and asteroids in your home system, and then colonies, so the structure preview is the picture of the first one and then presented to you "The Preator".
The Reman Dilithium mines are another thing, since they are located on Remus and can't be built on any other planet, it's logical that you can see Romulus on the perpetual night sky.

Not sure where you got the impression that you'll colonize moons first... on the contrary - in the game I mean. You'll colonize other star systems way before you can colonize the moons in your home system - or in other systems; and before you can build OBs. It's not even a given that your HW is the first system where you'll build OBs; SYs yes, of course.

In Star Trek, Earth had lunar colonies before they colonized Mars.

I'm sure you noticed I said in the game. There are a few things in the tech matrix that do not follow canon. Also, in the game, Earth may have something like 0~5 moons; and Earth is not the only homesystem in the game. It's a game. Did I get that right?

Two words "Artistic Freedom", but if everyone want these images out, I'll remove them from this thread.

I just stated *my* opinion - I think that was the point of posting the pics, yes? - do what you want with it. I was under the impression that the ships pics were going to be rotating in the pedia (unless it causes memory issues); so they'll probably be pics without backgrounds. In the same vein, OBs at least could use the same treatment - they can go both ways, since they're basically something between a structure and a ship currently. I guess SYs should be handled the same way as Stations, in regards to background / rotation.

Yes, and I decided to remove the background from the shipyards; the rest of the team will decide what to do with the OBs.
I welcome everyone's opinion, but I don't always agree with it. Naturally I will listen to the majority of the team, only problem is that they are silent in this matter so we have to wait.

You do understand, however, that you're replacing pics made probably by someone else, and that those people had their own ideas about how they should look, right? You're doing it by your own free will. They might be better, but that's not my point. I'm just offering another PoV. It's a long project, and things naturally change. You're so opposed to more change, yet you're changing art left and right Note: regardless if it's for the better or not!

Almost every image I made was for a structure that didn't have any pics, the new orbitals and shipyards would replace Kenneth's work, but we regularly talk via PMs and he doesn't mind.

Many of the models should be replaced and any improvement of png images is a good thing.

I always assumed the Trekpedia would have rotating models, but Mike has never cofirmed whether this is possible. We *may* need images in future if it isn't possible, but i'm personally quite happy with the images that Vjeko is making with the transparent backgrounds. The game could just as easily use those.
The ideal for the rotating ships would be to display the model itself. We wouldn't need separate, rotating images then.

I thought that those could be used as minor orbital batteries for now.

Beautiful image Zeleni, I prefer better when the batteries are enlarged. Suggestion: You should do the same thing for those empires. Enlarge them.

The pic with the guy in the space suit, on EVA? It looks like something taken from somewhere else, and a bit out of place IMO. This one also looks like it may be from some other game? With all the different barrels and all.

Ok, I can't decide if these are good enough for the game. What do you think? Attachment:

They definitely do their job mate, the first one screams "monastery" and the second one is generic enough to fit anything. They're both a million times better than the dark, blurry, over-contrasted, cropped, shrine thing that we've currently got as the holy sanctuary.

OMG, Slim did it again. Here are images that he made for Klingon (EDIT) TARG BREEDING GROUND and FORCED LABOR. Can anyone color these masterpieces in or should we leave them in stark black and white or black on red for Klingon?

Kenneth, i think that the first picture for the "PRIVATE RANCHES" could be perfect for the "TARG BREEDING GROUND"

Aww isn't that baby Targ that's being held up near the top-left of the picture just a cutie? All I can say about both images is epicness. Pass on our eternal praise to Slim for us, Ken.

However, it would be appropriate that the "PRIVATE RANCH" be one and single "building". The second picture would be appropriate for the "MINING PRISON" (The structure is front a mountain)
