Then ok! We'll hold this one for the fighting part. For now.

The two short ones could do for a minor race Encounter or an event.

I guess that the others are busy for the moment. :shifty: We'll have to wait to classify everything and put them in their own section where they belong. I'm trying to make a list of the different sectors that we could finalize for now because I can't move the files with my XP computer. I can only add folders and (sometimes) upload songs.
Eventually, I'll be switching to Windows 7 but it will have to wait till I change my computer.

Yes, good for the random events, especially the hostile forces. That is if Mike will code it in. If not as you say, Dominion Espionage.

Great! So we'll hold on that one until we know.
I'll send a PM to mike about strange events. If so, then I'll rename the song (Maybe CC Dwarf, as for Carbon Copy) and a qualifier.

In the meanwhile, I qualified some of the songs to define where they will be used for. If there's something wrong about it and I didn't see it, I would be glad if someone told me.
Thank you friends!
Would it be a good idea if I created, let's say, 15 or 20 seconds Events songs, in case Mike needs them? I'd then mark them as so and we could create a Sub-folder for those parts in the "Encounters" folder or elsewhere. I often create as it goes  .
Sometimes, suddenly I get a idea  and I create 'tunes' in a flash, but I don't quite know where to put them or what to name them. It's a good thing when you come up with a title as soon as you hear the songs. I have no objections at all and Thank you!

Good idea! Put them in the encounter folder and we can sort it out as Mike gets around to it.

Tomorrow I visit the Romulan Senate. Oh, it is just Jet lag. I am in Beijing.

I wrote to Mike about the length of the songs and he answered that it would be ideal for small events that I made 15 seconds to 30 seconds tracks. For the other windows, 1 or 2 minutes would be perfect.

I made a few more: Serene Voices 17 sec, and My men 30 sec, and I renamed my other ones in the Encounters and Events folder. You can go and listen you all, and tell me what you think, if you like.
Must be very nice over there in China Kenneth.
And the Romulans, I hope they don't stare at you too much! :romulan:
Have a nice day my friend!

The Internet I can use without more charges is located in a café here. I will have to come back later with my headphones to listen.

The Romulans so far have been very friendly. The taxi ride from the airport reminded my of bumper cars at Disneyland.

Really funny!
But the views must be really beautiful. If you can, I'd like to see some pictures when you're back home. I love Oriental styles.
In the meanwhile, I should be making one or more songs that you can listen to when you come back with your earphones.
Have a nice day, friend!

I made another song. Here it is; I couldn't upload to Share Point.
If someone can, it would be very helpful for me to upload it to the new folder I made in Share Point: Encounters and Events.

Thank you guys!

I'm sorry about the delay but my sister visited us with her husband so I was AFK almost the whole day.

The composition is a bit Klingony at the beginning, perhaps we could use it in the Klingon diplomacy screen, what do you think?

Thanks for your appreciation vjeko1701!
I really needed your ears to define that one because I wasn't sure about which race would fit with that theme. I didn't want to copy on another theme to create this one, but yes, you're right, I intended to make a diplomacy song. It's calm but heavy at the same time and has this Gothic sound that is particular to a barbarian race. Yes, it could be Klingon. Do you see if it will fit also for another race? Because if not, I will maybe rename it to fit with the Klingons.

Do you feel something for the small songs in Encounters and Events that Mike could put in somewhere? I think it would help him If I rename the ones we know about. I know it's kind of short, but maybe by hearing them a few times.., does it tell you something? One of them looks Dominion-like to me... But I could be wrong! Let's see what you feel! I just love it when you give your opinion! Thank you again, vjeko1701!

Have a happy day, my friend!

Well this one Serene Voices_Event_17s_Gino Véziau.WAV for the Religious Holiday and the My men_Event 30s_Gino Véziau.WAV for something successful like terraforming successful or even better alliance signed (when someone becomes your member or one of the major species makes an alliance with you.) best suiting the Federation

Thank you vjeko1701!
You help a lot with your feedbacks! It might help Mike decide what goes where if we put a title and an approximate qualification of where we would see the songs.

I Agree! Serene voice_was thought of as religious or ritual at first for me, My men_seemed like a successful music, happy and like 'work done'! I've noted your views and now compare them to mine for what I know of the game.
The more feedbacks we get, the more we can classify them successfully. I didn't want to rely only on my guess because I often create in a flash, as it comes to my mind and, since I didn't play much of the game yet, it's easier when I get help from someone who knows about games.

Thank you friend! I'll be making more soon. I'm working on something that looks like espionage for the major races.

Sorry but the free internet is slow here. I finally was able to download all the tones and listen. Here is my first impression.
I would say as well that My_men_event and Serene_voice sound like they should be for the good events. Yes, My_men_event would be nice for successful colonization. Serene_voice sounds like a nice scientific finding like a new wormhole. You can assign these songs now if you like but I do not expect we can do it right off for all the songs you will compose. We could just say positive event 1, 2 and so on.
Bethel’s_Voice would be OK for meeting minor races. Given that it is beyond our reach to make a unique sound for each minor I suggest just one for all minors at this time.
It could just be me but I hear Dominion Science window when I listen to CC Dwarf Event.
The Stand_Up_Encounter is unclassifiable for me just now. It has a Zelda sound to my ear. It would be good for a video game but I am not sure where it goes in Star Trek. I suggest leaving it in the encounter folder until we find a use.

I'm almost making a song a day. In case you didn't know yet, I created a new folder called Encounters and Events where you'll find more of my work, apart from what is inside the other folders. Go right ahead and tell me what you think.

You must miss your big hose at work  !
Thank you for listening to my songs.
I'm taking note of your impressions, add them to vjeko1701 's ones and will rename the ones that need qualification. I guess you noted that I already renamed and qualified some of the older ones. I think I'll have to add two more folders inside the Encounters and Events: Good and Bad events, so that we don't have to write long names after the title like for example: Serene Voice_Good event_Science_Length_Gino Véziau.
It will also be easier to find and to rename if they are already in their folder.

For the songs that are not yet classified, I will leave them in Encounters and Events, outside the Good and Bad events. As soon as we find a class. to it, and added a function or role , it will then be easy to insert them in the new folders. For the ones that we put in the Good or Bad events, we can add ex.: _Science or _Diplomacy_race or whatever is its function. Being in its own folder it will then be recognizable for Mike.

It would be very convenient to add a separator in the Document section in Share Point that would indicate the Time(in minutes and seconds) of the song in a column. I have looked around there and I could not find this option. If someone could add this, it would be perfect.

Thank you again for sharing your impressions Kenneth_of_Borg along with vjeko1701. I make songs so fast that it sometimes slips my mind as to what I made them for. Sorry! I guess that I am so eager to see the game update more and more that I make it my duty to add the most I can to help.
Good day to both of you and be healthy!
Happytrek

Hi everyone! I made another one.

http://www.mediafire.com/?kqcq41947epl689 Sting Carve_2m03_Gino Véziau

It was intended as an Espionage song but it can be anything.
I do not like the name and forgot to change it but as soon as it is on Share Point. I will rename it.

How about your feedback on this one, please?
Thank you!

I cannot say but it could be. Although think I should have made more voices sounds for the Dominion, it might sound wary.

We'll be waiting for more opinions on that one. Do you agree my friend?

Hello again folks!
I uploaded 2 more songs to SharePoint today! One is very short but full of energy, the other one is 2 minutes and Intended for Science. Could be or not. How do you feel them?

I'll be taking a break for a day or two for music. I will be out for business... Making music!
I will be back for more later.
Happy listening!

One general observation to make about the Star Trek franchise, Gene Roddenberry and music is that when you listen to the original series they started with very spacy electronic music (because the network thought it should be that way) and changed it to orchestral because Gene was after a different feel. The same was true for the Next Generation. He wanted Captain Picard to be like a Horatio Hornblower as he sailed his ship and the music to back that up. As Matress knows, right now I am using themes from the newest Star Trek film by JJ Abrams in my game (I bought the CD and own the music). Probably because I really love the French Horn and the Orchestral pieces really appeal to me. For obvious reasons we can't bundle that with the game (Copyright).

So indeed there are numerous things you've written I think are fantastic. :bigthumb: But in general I'll probably be more drawn to those that have a New York philharmonic slant to them than those that have too strong an electronic tone. Without really realizing it till just now, I guess a Freudian side of me drew a director's baton for your pips. By the way, in one post your pip goes gold. Or at least it should.

Bashir of the Philharmonic

Keep up the good work. I do not have time to download the tones - just popping in to say hello. I am not dead yet. We move on to Xi'an soon and I am not sure when I can get online again.

Bashir of the Philharmonic

Hi Captain Bashir! Thank you for your observation. And your appreciation. I see you have a particular taste for Philharmonic music! I do also, and was inclined to do so for all my repertoire.
Indeed, some of my songs have an electronic tone, because I thought I had to vary from being classical for every scene, to have a different feel when you change from one screen to another, specially Science and Events and for the case of some strange encounters. I was hoping to make it different from other games or films, making it Unique and pleasing all ears. Well almost all ears! :vulcan:
In fact, I'm trying to collect everyone's opinion to align myself onto a general taste, after which I could then compose, in line with the most players.
We are asking around to hear and judge which would be the best compromise between all styles of music, in which screen would it fit, to what race, for what event. We are hoping it will help Mike to have a large palette of music style and to facilitate his choice. He is the final decider and we are the packagers, so to say, so we better give him variety.

In relation to this game, which should be different in some manner, what would be your choice, for what scene would it best fit and for which Empire? I'm noting every choice for everyone and putting a general score to classify (package) them and sort them in the folders they belong to.
That is, if you please, and if you have time.
Thank you again Captain Bashir and I am grateful for all you do for me! And for us!
Have a nice Super day!
PS.: I hope I'll find my Gold pip! That would be fantastic!

Matress Has to manually change it to Ensign (Gold Pip).

I hope you did not take me to mean I did not like your work. The electronic sounding music is excellent and I like electronic music. You have a skill I could only wish for. I was only saying that when I go to put music in the game on my computer, I'll probably naturally steer toward those you have done with the Orchestral sound. I think that's a contributing nuance as to why Star Trek was taken more seriously in its day than all previous Sci Fi. At the time even the music added to the "Take me seriously" tone. There were many more elements to this to be sure, but the music was one. The sound gives the movies a "Blockbuster" feeling and there have been tremendous pieces of music written for Star Trek. We're adding you to the mix my friend - you obviously have it in you.

Bashir
