I can hear myself working on the systems with that playing in the background. I guess a more exotic sound would fit better with the Romulans so Federation Systems / Colony would be my choice.
That is what you had in mind?
:borg:

I completely agree.

Hello vjeko1701! Thank you!

I'm glad you like it. Well, it's been confirmed again. Federation/System for Father's Wing (Federation_Theme_02).
Federation/Diplomacy for Three Medals (Federation Test).

I'll be out for a few days and as soon as I'm back, I'll be trying Espionage.

Good Day everyone!

I"m still watching the forum here and I think it's the first time I see that we are all in together.
Funny heh?

EDIT: Have somebody tried playing the game while the new music is playing?

A couple of times with multiple songs. It gives me a small window into the future of the game.

I think I'd better finish the Empires as soon as I can so that he can code the complete music collection.
I still have a few sections to complete yet. I'll get on it as soon as I get back. I also look forward to it.

So, that is why you can feel that some songs really fit somewhere! It's good to know. :winkthumb:

Hi! I've completed Three Medals_Diplomatic in the Federation folder. This one is 2m18. I guess we should keep the small one also. I've also named them in the folder but I kept the themes names so that we know what it is for.

I'm onto making another one today.
See ya!

Thank you friends!
I'll try another one before I go to sleep. I caught the flu  so I'll be on the neutral zone for a few days.

But I still can smile to you!
Back in a few hours.

There were about ten people on the flight back from China with that bug. My wife had it nearly went on antibiotics to prevent progression to a bacterial pneumonia. I hope you do well. It takes time. We will wait for you to feel better.

Thank you Kenneth_of_borg, my friend!
Nothing really bad, I cough a lot though and my eyes tickle and burn a little, which makes it hard to concentrate or stay up very long, but I'm still doing my songs bit by bit.
I'll send an Espionage essay of some 30 seconds to see if it gets in the style of the game. I'm almost finished already. I'll edit this message as soon as I uploaded it. Ok?

Stay worm, drink a lot of tea and watch Star Trek. That's my recipe for any disease.

Also here in Croatia there is a sort of "natural" medicine. When I was 13 years old, I was constantly sick and the antibiotics actually weakened my immunity system. My mother managed to get goat milk from grandma's neighbor, all natural (they live in a village a couple of miles outside Krapina, my home town) I was drinking half a liter every week for about a year and since then I was barely sick. Actually for five years now I'm completely healthy.

Ok Happytrek
:borg:

One recent revelation was our need for 1000 units a day of Vitamin D for our immune systems to work optimally. The old requirements set the level much to low and many people are Vitamin D defiant. At this level studies have seen a reduced number and severity of viral illnesses. I wonder if that goat is putting D in her milk?

Some people are actually saying 2000 international units a day. Good call Kenneth.

Well, friends, Thank you for your kind concern! You're really like brothers to me!
Goat milk in my country is almost in the treasury department. Very expensive. So I drink hot sugary milk, vanilla coffee, take Multi Vitamins, go to bed often, (although I miss my friends around here in the forum :winkthumb: ) and continue to make music. If this bug wants me, he'll have to be very VERY strong because apart my SPAM BE HERE, IGNORE THIS POST, I have a nice bunch of friends here that are holding up to me, and that is my Vitamin. Who needs anything else :bigthumb: (except sleep of course)?!

I made another song for you to hear in the Federation Folder. "Federate Spy_49s_Gino Véziau"
I felt that one could be spy bound. If not, I'll make another one.

That does seam to have the exciting sexy spy sound to it. I am glad you can continue to put out good work even when you are feeling so poorly.
:borg:

BTW - If you can get the explorer view working on SharePoint you can drag and drop files around. It is an faster way to move files than what I talked about before.

Well it's no better here, we have like 50 goats left in the country, I was just lucky that my grandma lives in the village.

And vitamin D deficiency is one of the things we trekkies have in common. The only natural source of it is the sun (we not the source, but the sun helps our bodies to produce an enzyme that processes vitamin D, so even if you take vitamin D in a pill you will still need the sun to help you process it.)

Ok! Forget about that one. Good thing I only did 49 seconds. We can scrap it. At second thought, I do not feel it so much either.
I uploaded another one.Spier Liar_1m38_Gino Véziau.
It's half Philharmonic, half Earthy (with Electric Guitar). I prefer that one. I can still be wrong though!

I tried to load the Explorer and it worked the day I tried . The only problem I have is with the upload. Limited to under 2 minutes of Wav file. I haven't tried uploading that way yet. I might try the next time.

Ok. Listen to that one and if it's not Star Trek like, I'll make another one, more Orchestral. No problem. Must be the flu.

Me and the sun are not friends now from where I live. I never see it. I have to go outside and have a walk. And since I have a problem with my Thyroid gland (the one that produces iodine in my body), going to the sun affects me more than it helps. Most of the singers have that same problem. And since I've been singing for about 45 years (I still do), in dark Clubs and Bars well that's how I got this problem. Well treated, I can still continue to be healthy, but I have to be careful, and, well,... I'm not always taking care of myself I must say.
Oh well, each day has its own ups and downs. I'm still alive and kicking (well I'll be kicking soon  )

BTW, Listen to my last song I made. Spier Liar_1m38. The other one (Federate Spy) was not to my taste. As I mentioned, must be the flu.

See ya friends!

Yes, I think that has a better sound. I like the theme from Secret Agent Man. It makes me thing of shows like that and from that time period. Spy themes were big in the 60's.

This one had my attention as I was thinking exactly the same way as you. I didn't make it too guitar like, it's a bit of both worlds. But I kept the spy sound alive in the front.

So we are going to scrap the other one. Ok? If yes, I'll take it off my computer also.

Glad you like it! And I'm happy that you all give your opinion on my songs. It helps me a lot.
Thanks Guys!

Ok! So Espionage, System and Diplomacy are done. Now let's go for the other sections. I'll insert some small synth effects along with the Philharmonic sound for Science. And for the Map, you wished for a lively upbeat sound. I'll make some test like I did before so that you can guide me. Ok?

See you later!

I guess the old spy song could go into the Events folder for now. It is not bad.
I can try that when I am at a W7 PC at home with explorer view.

I recall that AJT uploaded three songs that in turn had music based on the themes from Voyager, TNG and Enterprise. The problem with his music is that it took to much time to get to the recognizable theme for our needs. What I was wondering is could we us say DS9 or even a mashup of the those themes for map music? Would that be over the line even for a fan game?

As I understand the laws of Copyright, you cannot copy, modify or use whole or part of an original music without first paying for the rights, that is if you get permission to do so. It can cost up to a few thousands or more not obeying this law and lose your licenses and even go to jail if you persist on doing it. If it was on a free project, it can still be Copyrighted only to be use with/for that project if that is what you're asking. Sometimes, even a free project keeps its rights for copying. Free to use but not to modify.

Let's say Mike creates a free game and decides that he doesn't wish to share the codes. The game is still free but you cannot modify it or even use parts of it without his written consent.

We cannot make music that is so close to an original that it is recognizable by a individual or company.
Before this law, we could reproduce less than 16 measures of Copyrighted material as long as the rest is different. But since 2008 or 2009, this law has changed to their advantage. Now all you can do is try to make near(maybe three or four measures if it's not a whole part of a song, like a full chorus or a full verse) but being careful not to be too near. Yes, you can mix a measure or two with something else but... that's not much!
And as the game is to be distributed largely around the world, it is more and more risky to do so to my opinion. For a local game, well who cares as long as nobody complains.
Is that what you asked me?

Yes, I do have to wonder what AJT was thinking. He is a professional musician and composer for games and other media. He did limit the use but you can still hear it and it is in the name of the songs.

I would not mash it up if it is just going to sound like elevator music. You will know what to do.

As another example, Let's say Mike is even sharing the code but I decide that my songs are to be uniquely used for Supremacy, I'd have Copyrighted my music only to be used with Supremacy (it's not the case but let's suppose it is) and give only my written permission to Mike. Then, nobody would have the right to take them and use them for another game or software without my benediction  .

It is better that we use what we have for completely free than having a bad reputation follow us.

I am also a professional musician and composer. As so, I can do what I want with my music.
Well, he probably wanted to keep the exclusivity for himself, by giving permission to whom he wishes.
If a composer or author keeps his rights on a music, it could be because he wishes to give or sell it to whom he wants. Most times, it's lucrative, if that's what one wants.

Like if all the songs I make, for example, are chosen by a renowned company somewhere. By giving them free to this game (to Mike) I could if I wanted(but I don't), share my songs with limited permission. Morally, I could never take them back to switch them elsewhere. I'd much prefer making more and different material. I would then have to sign a special permission to Mike to use them exclusively for this game, to protect Mike and to ease my mind. Morally again, I would rather refuse a contract than take back the songs I had given here if the case was to be. What I give I never take back! I am like that. I've always been and will always be.

I do not know that AJT had anything to do with the original themes for Voyager, Enterprise or TNG. He slipped a little of them into his compositions but as you point out, and I see your point, we should steer away from that.
