Excellent.

Also, the saucer isn't a perfect circle, it's a bit elliptical and has two sections a bit wider than the base, port and starboard escape pods containers.

Hey Vjeko. Sorry, cant tell if you mean my mesh OR commenting to describe your original drawing. On the escape pods, I would need more detail as to what you had in mind. I didn't put them in because I thought that they would be something detachable from the saucer but flush with the surface and so could be added as a surface texture. Also, another thought from my side is that the shuttle bay doors on the back should be smaller (maybe 3 too) to give more illusion of a larger vessel.

Agreed on the shutlebay doors, and I didn't mean the escape pods themselves, but the part of the saucer where the pods are situated, that part or the saucer is a bit wider than the rest (it's not a perfect circle) When I return home I will demonstrate what I mean.

Oh I see it now on the original drawing (a fix will be coming). Also I just noticed a different taper to the saucer on the forward and rear drawings. It bevels in at the bottom and bevels in at the top (ie the windows at the edge of the saucer aren't vertical). Wakin up Bashir

Those things on the edge of the saucer are escape pods, I actually didn't draw and windows, it would take too much time.

No I mean, look at your front and rear projection cross section of the saucer. Windows on the lower half would be slanted down (further out at the top and closer at the bottom) and there is a small part (depending on how big the ship really is) where the windows are slanted up (the bottom further out and the top closer). An image is below. Also in the front and rear projections, you didn't show the protruding escape pod section which is partly why I missed it. Draftsman Bashir

Well, I wasn't sure how to draw it. Most of the details are contained on the top view and anything there has the biggest priority.

Well, shall I leave the saucer as it is (of course add the escape pods)? CB

Guess i need to chime in to show off too i guess.

Borg texture i did awhile ago i was well proud of just never got the chance to use it really so knocked open LW and did a cube and applied it to show what it would look like rushed. Now if i wanted i could model the cube more with nuneries and stuff to match the texture and apply glows and stuff but meh cba. :p

Way to go Skeeter. I was hoping you would start designing again. Time to drool Bashir

The Borg Cube is going to be one of the most important ship models in the game. They will be enormous and relatively rare, so detail is important. Not to mention the fact that meeting one is going to be an EVENT. People are going to be looking forward to meeting one - even though they will dread it every other time onwards lol.

I know it's known as a Cube, but that's only the very rough design of it. We all know they're covered in pipes and armour plating and antennas and power sources and god knows what else on the surface. The Cube is one of the few models where the poly limits will be considerably higher than most other models for these reasons. If you can't be assed Skeet, find someone who is. :twistedlaugh:

Well, poly limit for the Borg cube should be the same as for stations, there will be only a few of them in battles, mostly one and it will be big.

If anyone wants to model a nice detailed cube then by all means. They can use my very high res texture too if they want.

Tbh tho even tho its a real basic cube mesh like 12 polys lol. With bump mapping, glows, etc it would look like a far more detailed model.

Doing 3D surface detail on a Borg Cube...? Whew that would take a while.

Here is an update on Reliant. The bridge is now lit at the base. This new bridge is also now on 1701A. Reliant also now has the raised detail surrounding the bridge and extending back to the impulse engine dome.

Here is the 1701 A with the new bridge. I added indented detail on the bridge and lights on the back as well as Nurnies (you can't see) on the top. There are minor improvements to the engines that reduced the Poly Count. As far as I can tell, this model is as close to the original as I have ever seen (minus the paint of course - which is a biggie). Bashir

Thanks team. Two points Vjeko. First is, I've got to hand it to you. My general impression is that this ship design looks good from most every angle, which can't always be said of all previous Enterprise versions. Second point is a question. Since you are the photoshop guy, should I be sending you UV maps to paint your model. I haven't checked lately when the Enterprise contest is closed. Maybe it is already? It's worth a submission. Captain

The contest is not important as I can't win since I'm from Croatia. If you think it's good enough, we can use this model in Supremacy. I was thinking that we could design one model for each species ourselves as the most advanced design in the game.

Well, of course I would submit it for you and pass on the prize. However, what about the photoshop painting? Need that for either Supremacy or the Entry? Crazed Emissary of the 1701 F

You can send me the UV-map and will see what I can do about the texture. It's gonna be both fun and hard texturing your own ship as you have no previous textures to work with.

The Contest is till April. There are quite a large number of designs that have 4 out of 5 stars. They are also simultaneously looking at which ship get the most votes.
