here

It has been pointed out to me that it is bad forum protocol to post the link to another site without more explanation. It is a link to an article about who wants to be the next computer voice in Star Trek movies. Sorry, if that was not clear enough. Otherwise you would not know until you clicked the link.

You are obviously referring to my post here. If I remember correctly, I described your post as "Very laconic post but very interesting nonetheless." I obviously meant this in a positive manner and not as a description of bad forum protocol.

Specifically, the Spartans, from whom the term laconic originates, were always admired in Ancient Greece (besides kicking ass in battles of course) for their ability to convey ideas in few words, ie being laconic. If you have time, have a look at the examples in the wikipedia for laconic, some of them are hilarious. Anyway, I am sorry if I was misunderstood

Returning to the topic at hand, I am wondering if it would be possible to just take samples of Mrs Barrett-Roddenberry's voice from old Trek episodes and use that instead.

A very nice picture of Troi. She seems to be such a great person. Ahhh those were the days. CB

Cool. She would make a good computer voice. But Gates (Dr Crusher) gets my vote in the long run. I think she's a fantastic actress and didn't get the screen time she deserved.

It was not you Captain_Picard but your point is well taken.

It would be nice for Marina Sirtis (Troi) to get that part. She has not had all that may or good part for a "mature" woman of late. I do like the sound of Majel (Barret Roddenberry) in that role but have a bias for Marina. While waiting for my wife to take this photo of me with her and Mr. Frakes she gave my waist a little squeeze. That was priceless.
