Original: "Always remember that expansion is achieved by diplomacy not by the military. Starfleet’s mission is to preserve the peace. Our ships are not intended to start wars but to end them. We attack only as a last resort."
What about this: The Federation can achieve rapid expansion by incorporating new worlds through diplomacy. Actively recruit new members. Starfleet's mission is to preserve the peace and protect Federation members. Attack only when diplomacy will not do.

Here is the Cardassian intro: YoutubeControl is the only thing that matters. Methods are not important. Efficiency is what counts in the end. Exploit that you conquer, for in the struggle for survival every resource is critical. History is written by the victors. Something like this?In Cardassia the ends justify the means. Methods are not important. Efficiency is our tool for dominance. Exploit the worlds you conquer. Their resources bring victory and with victory you will write the history.

Not bad, just add some smug sense of superiority.
Notes for the Dominion one, end with: Always rember: Obedience brings victory and victory is life!

I assume the new voice actor is BlazeLeeDragon?
He seems like a talented guy. Ask him to come up with his own stuff as well, he might have some ideas. I'm not sure how much he knows about Star Trek because I never asked him, but the original BOTF intros will certainly give him an idea of what we're looking for. But basically:
Federation: peaceful, optimistic, explorers and expansionists Klingons: honourable warriors with a thirst for glorious battle Romulans: enigmatic, mysterious, xenophobic, and imperialists Cardassians: rigid, sneering, militaristic and self-important Dominion: god-fearing, misdirecting, fanatics

MOE, would you suggest the full text for the Dominion intro? Blaze will need some background on the Dominion if he has not seen them before. Here is a youtube video where you can see a female Founder and a male Vorta of the Dominion. It should give you some idea about the voice and presentation of these two races. I would say do Vorta. The founders are not often see. hereSomething like this for the Cards? In Cardassia the end justifies the means. Methods are not important. Efficiency is our tool for dominance. Exploit the worlds you conquer. Their resources bring victory. When we are victorious, and we will be victorious, we will write history. What would you do for video in the Card intro?

Here is a link to the Ferengi intro. Would the Dominion sound like this? Vorta speaks: Founder, we live to serve you. Provide us resources and technology so we may defeat your enemies. Your humble servants, the Vorta and Jem Hadar, are always devoted. Make alliance or make war, we live to obey your commands. Always remember: Obedience brings victory and victory is life! What would the video look like?

Hmmm, I have a video suggestion for the feds
The Federation can rapidly expand by incorporating new worlds through diplomacy. NX class leaving orbit of Earth - cut- In orbit of Vulcan - salute to ST Enterprise
Actively recruit new members from the races you meet. Constitution class, Miranda class and a few minor race ships (Andorian, Xindi...)
Starfleet's mission is to preserve the peace and protect Federation members. Federation flag over a M class planet.
Attack only when diplomacy fails Fedearation fleet - late TNG era closing to a Desert planet.
Doms:
Vorta speaks: Founder, we live to serve you. Omarion Nebula and the founder's homeworld
Provide us resources and technology so we may defeat your enemies. dominion ship diagram overlayed over three ship of the same type flying trough space
Your humble servants, the Vorta and Jem Hadar, are always devoted. Jem'Hadar and a Vorta (we would need to build models) fading first in and then out over an animation of the Great link (I've made an image of it - I can try to animate it.)
Make alliance or make war, we live to obey your commands. Dominion fleet over an oceanic planet
Always remember: Obedience brings victory and victory is life! Dominion insignia or flag over the galaxy

Thanks, those videos will look nice. I will have to look at a Vorta and Jem Hadar model. We will see what MOE comes up with.

Based on what MOE suggested here is a Dominion Intro Revised:
Vorta speaks: Founder, we live to serve you. Video: Omarion Nebula and the founder's homeworld
Vorta speaks: Provide us resources and technology so we may defeat your enemies. Video: dominion ship diagram overlaid over three ship of the same type flying trough space
Vorta speaks: Your humble servants, the Vorta and Jem Hadar, are always devoted. Video: Jem'Hadar and a Vorta (we would need to build models) fading first in and then out over an animation of the Great link (I've made an image of it - I can try to animate it.)
Vorta speaks: Make alliance or make war, we live to obey your commands. Video: Dominion fleet over an oceanic planet
Vorta speaks: Founder, your god-like changeling ability will serve our cause well. Use espionage where warfare will not do. Video: Dominion espionage window with user actions.
Vorta speaks: Always remember: Obedience brings victory and victory is life! Video: Dominion insignia or flag over the galaxy
Something like this for the Cards?
In Cardassia the end justifies the means. Methods are not important. The Obsidian Order is an efficient tool of espionage. Use it to full advantage for dominance. Video: Cardassian espionage user interface with user actions Exploit the worlds you conquer. Their resources bring victory. When we are victorious, and we will be victorious, you will write history.
What else would you do for video in the Card intro?

Another issue we have to address is the size of the video files. For example in this YouTube version of the Klingon special effects shot from Star Trek the Movie it takes 14 seconds for the camera to pan down from horizontal to vertical down on the Klingon D9. If I run my video at 25 frames per second that is already 350 images at say 1920 x 1080. I am thinking we will need to run the audio without any long pauses over fewer seconds of video. In so doing we will be limited in the number of video sequences it is practical to show. I am going to look at shotting the video as a faster paced action shot of the ships headed to the M class planet. That film, Star Trek the Motion Picture, was one of the slow paced science fiction awe and wonder school. You could start that film for five minutes then go wash your car, have dinner and use the toilet without missing out on the story line when you got back. I think the faster pace of the Dominion wars and JJ's Star Trek is what people will appreciate in our short videos.

Well what I had in mind are dynamic, fast and breath taking shots. Just make the elements, I'll try to make them quick and dynamic. If I fail, I have some friends with more experience that can take a shot at it.

Mike got back to me on Intros. He wants them to give a feel for the race but skip the part about race stratagem. Matress was right in the first place AGAIN. Bother said Pooh.
So more like this:
Revisions
Klingon main theme music plays
Video: Fire and Klingon emblem overlay melds to Klingon fleet moving towards an M class planet, a bit blurred and semi transparent. Voice actor: The Klingons are a race of warriors. Never forget that. Make allies if you must but only if they are worthy. Klingons fight with honor. Video: Cut to Animated Klingon diplomacy window, animated in a sense that the ships are moving and window shows other user actions Voice Actor: Through hard times and fierce battle rise our flag. Defend the empire for the honor of your house. What a Klingon defended with blood is not given away. Q'apla! Video: Cut to Q'onos and Praxis orbiting + a semi transparent Klingon flag waving with Klingon overlay in one sequence

And please recreate my favorite scene from TMP with the three D7 class cruisers (just the part when they are approaching the camera) I would love to see it in our video. NOTE: Music- in that part of the video we could add just a few tones from the original TMP soundtrack, something like in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJZbCNexctc(from 0:26 to 0:46, except our would be shorter)

Great minds think alike. I hope to open with just that but it will quickly pick up pace in keeping with our time constraints. I am learning how to blow $()!# up in blender and hope to put some of that in as well. Oh we are saved. Let's give war a chance.

Very good and welcome to your first forum post Blaze. Blaze is our new voice actor and he has been working on some recordings for the game. When I do Klingon it needs a lot of post production to get the sound. In the end you can tell it has been electronically altered. This is a natural Klingon sound. It is also not over done as you can hear with the Star Trek Online Klingon trailer. I will save these and run it with my animation soon enough. Thanks for cutting it up that way as well. We may use the middle line yet. My bad, that was a typo. It should be 'raise the flag' and not 'rise the flag.' Now that we have a talent like Blaze I am hopping for more suggestion on our Major Race intro lines. We will need to have something recorded for the videos.

I also considered for a time that it could be a Klingon phraseology. Unfortunately it is not like a Yoda thing. There is no example of it in the Star Trek Universe. When you have the time to redo it I will save both renditions on SharePoint. Any suggestions for rewrites are, as you can see, a good idea.

Wow, excellent, I can already see (well hear actually) it in our video. Just one more thing, can you rerecord Q'apla, but in a way that sounds like Kpla (short and harsh K and then the pla) I can then replace it with the current one without you having to rerecord the entire line.
Also, a bit later in the development we will probably need a klingon voice for the interface and battle's. Klingon acknowledgments (Dah), orders...
Also, rise the flag may not make sense in English, but it does make sense in other Earth languages like my (Croatian) for example. Why shouldn't it make sense in Klingon(I know it's English and not Klingon in the video, but if a Klingon were to speak English he might translate some stuff too literally) I am for keeping it this way.
Welcome to the team. Q'apla!

The Klingon language institute may be helpful at some point. http://www.kli.org/tlh/If Mike is OK with rise so am I. I will run it in the animation and see if they salute.

Wow Blaze, you make a brilliant Klingon! As Vjeko said, the Qa'pla isn't exactly right though. It's pronounced kuh-plagh rather than quah-pla. Sorry about the mental image this will probably give you, but it needs a bit of phlegm to pronounce it right. Here's a short video that might also help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1v0emSvJPGETry the suggested videos down the side of the page as well. It might provide you with inspiration for future Klingon audio recordings.

I saw the link you posted to it on Facebook just now, Kenneth. It's a brilliant intro video. The only thing that could make it better is perhaps having the B'rels uncloak just as they first appear on the screen, because you can't see them at the start when the three K'tinga's are there but the B'rels suddenly appear from behind them. An uncloaking effect would make it look cooler and explain the little discrepancy.
