This thread will be about interesting facts you come across while searching for something on the net. http://www.croatianhistory.net/etf/cravate.htmlthis is one of my favorite quotes Two Croatian regiments of Royal Cravate were under the French flag in military operations undertaken by Napoleon I in Russia. Especially important was their insurance of Napoleon's retreat from Russia across Berezino in 1812/13. More than two thirds of the Croats lost their lives: 400 soldiers and 10 officers, plus 357 dead of famine and freezing. Only 296 survived. According to Marmont, Napoleon declared: "I never had more courageous and better soldiers''. According to [Dolbeau], p 18, Napoleon addressed the following message to these 296 Croatian survivors: Hier, j'ai pu m'assurer de mes propres yeux de votre courage et de votre fidélité. Vous avez acquis la gloire immortelle et l'estime, et je vous place parmi mes meilleurs troupes. Pour votre courage, je vous promets de vous accorder tout ce que vous me demanderez de bon droit lorsque nous serons de retour. Je suis satisfait de vous, très satisfait. - translation anyone? That is why I've always felt that we were somewhat like Klingons.

Yes about translation:
"Yesterday I was able to realize my own eyes, your courage and your loyalty. You have acquired the immortal glory and esteem, and I place you among my best troops. For your courage, I promise to give you everything you ask of me right when we get back. I am happy with you, very satisfied."

Thanks for the translation.
Hehehehehe, if anyone wants us, we are still great warriors, our independence war (1991-1995) proves that.

OK, the Romulan empire offers you an alliance. We will rule the alpha quadrant side by side. (Romulans, so predictable treacherous)

We are not conquerors, as one of our leaders said:
"We don't want anything that isn't ours, but we won't give anything that is ours."
we don't have desires of conquest, but we will fight to the last for our own land.

Now this is cool. Who knows we could all live as long as the Vulcans, or could end up like Miri's Earth. http://www.friendscircle.co.uk/showthre ... e%E2%80%9D

The story about Betelgeuse is going viral lately. Yes, it will go supernova, however not anytime soon but in the next hundred or million years or so. So, all the stories that it will explode in a couple of years are bogus. Period. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betelgeuse ... _supernova

I agree that it would be cool. However, since Betelgeuse is about 200pc away it would look more like a very bright point source. In other words, you wouldn't see a disk like in the case of the Moon or the Sun but just a very bright dot. In order to achieve the Star Wars effect, you need a binary system but this creates other problems (the habitable zone is too far away etc). The following blog article has a nice analysis of the two-stars-in-the-sky scenario: http://www.universetoday.com/83238/astr ... ity-check/

Is it me or does that police officer look disappointed with the Bat'leth? Maybe it wasn't sharp enough. Here's something funny. There's a video on Youtube of Gaddafi's rant from the other day. Someone remixed it. Let's stand with the Libyans by Listening To Them Make A Mockery of the megalomaniac.
