That does catch the structure of the Dominion. The original intros, for the most part, had clues as to who the race should be played. The Klingons need to declare war from time to time on at least a minor race to keep up the spirit of their warriors. The Federation should use diplomacy and avoid needless wars for the moral of the people. In the case of the Dominion I see the human player taking the role of a Founder. My concept is that a Vorta would tell the Founder that Vorta and the Jem Hadar are always devoted and obedient. All you, the human player, needs to do is supply them with resources and technology to win. I guess with that in mind we should say the Cardassians have an espionage advantage. Will the Dominion also have good espionage with the changelings? We should say that as well.

Well, the Dominion should have the biggest espionage and sabotage bonus.

Playing with Dominion you goal should be to secure the delta and gamma quadrants since there are no major races there and destabilize alpha and beta quadrants and conquer the leftovers later. (sabotage bonus)

With the Klingons your goal should be expansion trough war. Conquering minors, allying yourselves with the strongest major race and conquering others. (war time morale bonus and perhaps ground combat bonus)

With the Federation your goal should be peace and exploration. Mediating disputes, membering as many minors as you can. (research bonus and diplomacy bonus)

Cardassians are very patriotic, able to wage war and peace with equal success (higher overall morale, average in diplomacy and combat and espionage bonus)

Romulans, inventive, xenophobic, skilled diplomats when needed and savage warriors in battles, government changes very often (perhaps a lower overall morale, research bonus, espionage bonus, diplomacy slightly above average)

Note: by bonus I don't mean some defined bonus, only that we keep it in mind with basic structure (type 1-9.... class 1-9....) stats, higher output for research in Romulan labs, higher intel in Cardassian intel structures...

If it's not, it should be.

This was actually Kenneth's idea.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bbq4PXRi ... dded#at=56

This is a video about Zrinski, I mentioned him before, but listen to the background. It's an opera in his honor (yes we have operas that celebrate historic heroes and battles) What if we put it in the Klingon video in the background. Quietly, barely noticeable.

This part is called "U boj, u boj" - To battle, to battle - about his final march against the Ottoman army. Croatian sounds a bit like Klingon to non-croatian speaking nations, and this is written in and old-croatian language so even I can't fully understand it. i think it could work.

Opinions?

EDIT: This is the finale of the opera itself.

I like it in any event but will leave it up to the audio master, Gino, to make the call.

Well it's one of my favorite operas. The text itself is also very stimulating and patriotic.

Sorry I was late for this one. I wasn't watching this topic.
I heard the final part of the opera and I could say it would fit in a national theme, in part though. We could take it near the end for a few seconds and use it for a national event, or a battle cry but I see a loud voice over this music speaking in Klingon and calling the battle while the army sings. We would need a scene where the high commander makes a loud speech of victory. That is how I see it.

Quite dramatic indeed, exactly what the Klingons do. That is why I see it in a call for battle. It would fit perfectly in that matter.
Thanks for the explanation vjeko!

No problem, I can translate some parts of the text so you can get a better idea on both the opera and my people's mentality.

That would be great friend!
As I learned, in Medieval times (what year was it) a lot of other nations also use to make a battle hymn. The Vikings, the Japanese, the Germanic, Mongolians
...It must have been really great battles, I saw a few in films.

For Happytrek, I did my best, but the opera was written in old Croatian with many now archaic phrases.
These are the last couple of lines of the finale.

The battle itself was in 1566, here is the Wikipedia page about Zrinski:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_%C5 ... 87_Zrinski

And yes, we have lets just say an interesting and long history (we colonized this area in the 7th century, but my people's first written mentioning is even older. We were all, our entire nation a nation of warriors hired by the eastern Roman empire to protect them from the German tribes and were given these lands as a reward for that, we probably (there are a few theories) originate from the remnants of the old Persian empire)

< officers and soldiers>

Croatian flag is raised high!
A Croat gladly sheds his blood
For the king, nation and home!

< Zrinski>

Now we go forward brothers,
The Turks are calling us madly
You Juranić, carry the flag,
I will follow you,
Then you follow me, and then Alapić!
But before we die,
brothers, lets hug!

(The officers gather; Zrinski is hugging them and shaking their hands.)

< Juranic>(raises the flag)

To battle, to battle!
Unsheet the swords,
show our enemies how we die!

< Zrinski, Alapic, Paprutovic, Eva, officers and soldiers >

The city is burning
We can feel the heat:
their cry is echoing, (referring to the enemies)
their anger is fierce!

< Juranic>

Like that fire, our anger is burning,
our swords will silence our enemies!

< Juranic, Zrinski and chorus>

Like brother to brother,
say goodbye to Zrinski
To Zrinski at the gate,
you faithful heroes.

< Chorus>

Now brothers!
Load our rifles,
Our thunders, our bangs, (it makes sense in Croatian, it is comparing rifles to thunder and explosion)
let them echo and destroy our enemies!
Sharpen our fierce swords,
So that they cut harder, harder!

< Eva, Juranic, Paprutovic, Zrinski>

Farewell
our eternal home (referring to the country, not the fortress)
goodbye from everywhere, everywhere
our enemy is over you.
And in the holy grave he is putting you, but he will fail!
For you every son goes to battle!
Our home, you will stand proud for ages!

< All>

Now to battle, to battle!
For our home to battle!
Enemies from hell
rise their daggers against it;
To battle!
We are few but brave!
Who, who will defeat us?
Death to the devil. Death!

< Zrinski>

To die for our country is such an honor!

< All>

Charge against the enemy, he must die!

Thank you deeply vjeko!
Those words are very immersive. Very well written, and translated, I was feeling like singing with them as I read further and further. For the translation!

Yes, this could easily be compared to the Klingons. Archaic, brutal and eager to die for their nation.
Battle, Battle! And die for Honor! I could also add "Q'apla!" "Today is a good day to die!"

(To battle, to battle!
Unsheet the swords,
show our enemies how we die!) Sounds typically Klingon to me. I would keep this video just in case, or at least take the Audio part. You never know.

I like that! Maybe use it in the game if the song is not copyrighted.

Thanks. I did my best, but there were some lost meanings in the translation.

I'm not sure about copyright since the composer has been dead for a long time. I'll try to investigate,

Please do that! Thanks! We will need the others' approval though.
We'll keep it somewhere in case we are to use it in the game. You never know!

Thank you again vjeko!

In the US at least when the composer is dead there is no issue for him or her. The problem is the group that produced this rendition of the opera.

Yes Kenneth!
There should be a way of knowing if the song is free of rights( public domain ), or if it still belongs to someone, in your Country (Part of Europe?) since the Rights sharing may not be the same as US or Canada.
Check on that for Europe vjeko if you please, and I'll search for US and Canada.

Ok vjeko! I found them.

I found 2 sites relating to rights. One is ASCAP for the US, and the other is This one:

http://europa.eu/legislation_summaries/internal_market/businesses/intellectual_property/l26032_en.htm For Europe.

This one explains more.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright#Copyright_term for all Countries. Books and music. Read out Copyrights Terms which I think you can read in your language.

It's mostly the same for all Countries. But it's the individual terms that are important. Mostly, copyrights last for 50 to 70 years after the death of the Author or Composer but in some cases, can be renewed (enforced for laws) and extended by the family legal legacy or a corporation or group.

I think it is best to search for the individual title of the song. Who wrote it? Is it by one composer, a group or a company? And did they renew their copyrights? For how long?
If you know the exact title vjeko, make a search in your locality, to see if it is now free of rights (public domain) or not. If it is, then our problem is solved, meaning we can do what we want with it and should have no legal problems with it.
We could take a part of it and insert it in the project.

Happy searching, my friend! Can't wait to know.
