Almost the end of an era. So sad. Some things are just build to be used. They shouldn't become museum pieces. I do not agree with the commercialisation of space. And It Shouldn't Be Humans To Mars In 50 Years, It Should Be Humans To Mars In 10.

If people had said the same thing after Columbus discovered the Americas and merchants had not established trading routes, outposts etc the present would be very different. In any case, the present financial situation leaves no other choice.

Of course specific guidelines and rules have to be set or else multinational (multiplanetary??) companies will end up exploiting everything like they have done here on Earth...

You *must* see this:
http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badas ... he-ground/

It's a photo of Discovery just before she docked with the ISS. The photo was taken from Earth

True Picard, but at the same time look how many civilizations were wiped out by that commercialisation. If we're not careful there are so many things that *could* go wrong if we allow the commercialisation of space. And that's why things should be done on a public and scientific basis for the benefit of all humankind.

...

Two of the astronauts, Steve Bowen and Alvin Drew, are due to go on the first of two, six-hour spacewalks to install a new store room to the ISS. Just imagine your camera was good enough to see them doing it...
