Yes, it is a test. I can use that high res star-field you already sent as background. I tried putting a cloth texture on the image for the flag but the current image still has some odd light on it. Yes Vjeko, a new texture for the banner would be nice. The part the Klingon emblem goes on is a perfect square so you do not need to worry about stretching it down to points. A square image on red background with the Klingon emblem will do. I have the banner set up for the new image and I am working on the fire next. I will have to see what Gino, Happytrek, says about putting the flag at the end. It changes the timing of his audio track.

So you need an image without a cloth texture and just the Klingon emblem.

I am getting old. I am sure you sent me one but for the life of me I can not find it. You had sent a nice one as I recall. Go ahead and add the cloth texture to your liking and I will use that. I would like to get this done in time for any Trekmovie spot on Supremacy. (working hard, real job getting in the way, head down, butt up)

Well I don't have any special cloth texture, I can try to obtain some if you don't have any satisfying one. Here are the flags I've sent you.

Kenneth, you can always fade in the flag slowly at the end even if there is no more music. It will give a dramatic feel and sense of pride. Or, you could start putting the generics while the flag is appearing, in contrasting colors, it doesn't matter if the music is stopped. You can just fade in and out slowly, to my opinion.

You guys are right and thanks Phil for suggesting it. It makes a better story. The music will end with the last of the animation, see planet and the fleet. In the near silence the Klingon banner is planted on the surface of the planet. The shot will be at ground level. I need some low level background sounds. Can anyone come up with crackling fire sound, maybe some crickets to mix with that and a few distant thuds of explosions?
What to do with the title sequence? Replace it with The Klingon Empire? Vjeko, can you do a 2d of that?
Gino, is that going to be a problem in timing the music? Could we put that opera in the background here?

I believe the crickets won't be a good idea since the forest is in fire. I"ll search around if I can find cracking fire and explosions. We will also need a sound of the flag pole planting in the ground. This sound will be important as it is the first sound you'll hear after the music died. As for the timing, no problem. I'll send you a PM.

I have an idea of having the Qo'noS and Praxis sequence overlayed over a 2D background of space, red nebula and artistic Klingon emblem before the fleet sequence.
EDIT: what resolution should it be?

Mike said it will be at 1280 x 720 so the higher res works. Thanks
Gino, could we have that opera play faintly like the Klingons singing in the banner sequence?

one thing, if you put text over that image, it will look very static, it might be a good idea to separate the background (space nebula) from the Klingon sign so that you can animate the sign get bigger slowly, and i mean very slowly, just so that it doesn't look like a picture

Good idea again Phil93. I will us blender and put the image in the background. The letters will move slowly to the camera.

I can send you both elements or even blend them myself, but I'm against written text. In my opinion we could add an animated Praxis and Qo'noS sequence over it, a Bat'leth, Klingon disruptor and perhaps even a Klingon face and an computer interface texture - klingon LCARS (we have the model of a Klingon head, the disruptor and Bat'leth are easy to build) fading in and then out in different parts of the animated background in a way Phil mentioned.
I will try to demonstrate what I mean later.

We already have a Klingon LCARS style interface in the Mark I and II Replicators. If we still have the files, those could just be expanded upon to suit our needs. The Civilization 2: Test of Time intro has objects, especially weapons, fading in and out as part of the video. It might give some inspiration. Objects start fading in and out around the 0:40 mark.

Yeah, and the original BOTF intro had fading objects. This is just a mockup, the position and selected objects are variable. My idea was to have this objects fading in and out fast at a random sequence more than one at a time: Imagine this animated and some elements replaced with our own models.

I could do that and have the lettering de-clock in animation. I only have the lettering in this still image.

Well I'm against lettering. We should accomplish everything only by suggestion, no direct lines, nothing. Just audio and visual stimulation. It was accomplished in the same way in the original BOTF and it should be our goal to keep the spirit of the original game.
But that's just my opinion. What do others think?

No text necessary. Everyone knows what it represents, keep it suggestive as vjeko says.
Btw im trying to sort out some ftp accounts for moe, kenneth and vjeko. So we can host the files on our server and not places like mediafire etc. More secure that way.
Btw about fading objects vjeko. Not loads like you suggested in the pic u shared. Maybe a iconic visual of the bat'leth perhaps but thats it.

BTW, we could also use this image for other ingame stuff like it was used in the original BOTF. I can try to make one for each empire. The Federation should be next because we will have a sequence of three ship warping into space and their flashes melding into an Federation equivalent of this image.

I will be able to do more with it if I can build or find the objects as 3D models.

Well we have the Klingon face, Bat'leth is simple to build, the disruptor too. I've sent you HQ textures for Qo'noS and Praxis and Captain Bashir has the Klingon replicator.

I used to have FTP access, Skeet. But I lost the login details and I don't have the programs anymore. The ideal for me would be if Sharepoint was working properly again. It only has a 7mb upload limit and Explorer mode doesn't work anymore.

Nice, i like it alot, but its just a shame the nebula is cut off somehow if u see what i mean above the emblem. Also, if its ok to ask, can you try the purple nebula a bit more blue than purple?
Btw if you can, can u do a version without the nebula and just the stars and emblem in separate layers if u use photoshop so i can have a go at a nebula effect just for personal pleasure lol. I like doing nebulas.

Well there is no purple, just blue and something "tealish". The nebula is important to the image as the main part of the symbol (the circle with the stars) is actually transparent and uses the background nebula as it's own texture.
I'll upload a .psd version of it later.
Please note that these are not final versions so don't use them anywhere until someone states that it's a "Final version".
