These should be used in minor race intros at different points - found a place in the Klingon and Federation intro. It would add consistency to them and we trekkies love consistency.

Also in BOTF art like this was used during war declaration, event of a major empire being wiped out...

They all look good i cant find anything to tweak.

I just wanted to update everyone, been talking with Happytrek, and working on the first line of the Cardassians, there was an issue with my original "hail" sounding like hell so I did 4 new attempts...

did you want me to start recording with the last agreed upon lines? I heard mention of a new second voice actor did you want them to record some of the intros i've not done yet?

also in game, I've only done, klingon and federations, did you want me to begin recording the ingame of the cardassians and the romulans?

I wanted to have the intros agreed upon first to make sure I am capturing the essence of the races.

I did mention that there could be other voices in the game to make variety Blaze, like a female or other people. There could be some in the intros as well, or not. That depends on what Kenneth or the others might need as they go.

I am going with Blaze on the Klingons. That is a no brainer. I like his Fed as well. Blaze is the best voice for them.
Here is what I have for the Cardassians Text. This I feel should be a male voice. I would prefer Blaze on this one as well and like his recording. Does anyone have suggestions on the text or forever hold your piece as well?

Here is what I had in mind for the Romulans text. Could we please have our fight about the lines now? Does anyone have a suggestion? We do have a female voice actor that could do this and I am leaning to a female voice for them. I would like to hear both for comparison. I can record her later this Month and will decide then.

As Praetor uphold these principles that guide The Romulan Star Empire and never fail.

Keep the Empire's assets hidden. Divide your enemies and take advantage when they are weak.

Do you have a question about some text Blaze? Is there a miss spelling?

I'd suggest a minor change to the first two sentences of the Cardassian text.

• The jump from "All hail Cardassia" to "Methods are not important" is clunky, as though you're saying how you hail Cardassia is not important lol.
• I'd also emphasize the efficiency and the importance of Cardassia parts more, because these are the two things that really matter to Cardassians.

So I'd suggest changing it to this:

For the Romulans, I would also suggest a female voice. Would Kathleen mind doing more voice-overs, Kenneth?

I would suggest some slight changes to the Romulan text too.

• I would add "we" at the start to emphasize the Romulans only care for themselves.
• I would change "rules" to "masters", since the Romulans are the masters over the Remans and certainly have no qualms about slavery. Plus it just sounds better.
• Change "these principles" to "this principle" because you've only mentioned one rule in the text above. "Guide" then becomes "guides" to maintain consistency.
• Change "that guides" to "that has guided" to show you are to continue the values of the Star Empire.
• Remove the "Romulan" from "Romulan Star Empire". Since you're playing as the Romulans, stating the Romulan part is redundant.
• Add "behind a cloak of secrecy" after the "Empire's assets" to get the word "cloak" into the text and emphasize that the Romulans are secretive.

So this is the suggested change:

Hmm, although they are ok, they don't sound so epic as our first two or as the BOTF ones. We need more historical quotes and Star Trek quotes in them

For example we could add "History is written by the victors" at the end of the Cardassian intro. It was not invented by BOTF team, it's an old proverb (at least in Croatia) it was also said a couple of times by Garak so we can have him as an inspiration.

The Dominion HAS TO HAVE
"Always remember, obedience brings victory,
and victory is life"
at the end because it's the most iconic line from the Dominion and it must have originated from the Founders since both Vorta and Jem'hadar were made by them.

I agree on the female voice in the Romulan intro.

Let me know about the cardassians, and the romulans too if we are going to alter them. as for the Romulans same thing if we are altering let me know and also let me know if you like voice 1 or 2 for the romulans.


After speaking with Happytrek, it seems we've narrowed the Cardassians to one of my 4 attempts, so if we are altering the lines let me know and I'll redo them all

another random thought for mix up, What if for intros, you had variations on voices? as in one voice for first line, a different for second and so forth? obviously I could do variations on the races and still capture there essesnce, but you could also throw in a female voice for the occastional line.

this is just a suggestion, kinda like multiple people of the race speaking? or keep what we have (since they are so good )

and add in at the end some random quotes? these quotes could be in the intro, or perhaps, randomly played at the ship building screen? or menu screens? like a random line from that race?

Good ideas all. Vjeko, when you get the lines please do enter your take on the text. I very much liked the idea of a vorta and jem'hadar voice for the Dominion but sket ruled that out. The alternative founder voice is the female. I do not know if you could do her Blaze. It was not very high pitched but you might just sound wrong doing it. I will wait to hear what Vjeko comes up with. Blaze, just add the victory brings life part at the end. Do that line as jem'hadar and we will try to slip it past sket

hmmm will have to look vorta up, not sure how well I can do a female voice, sure I can do a "feminane" voice but it usally sounds "fake" we'll see though

If the romulans and the cardassisans sound good I'll work on some in game lines this coming weekend.

Yes, they do seam to be throwing some money at Torchwood. I will say a little more later but it will not be much. We all had to sign about how they could have our first born male child and a pound of flesh if we talk.

I am getting more work done on the Klingons. It will be hard to upload just yet but hang in there.

I will try to listen to em all tomorrow or sometime soon and write what i think of em all if that helps in any way which i think is what u wanted ken? And jot down improvements if i think of any.

Btw it might be my opinion alone here but i would like to have a female voice for dominion to be one of the female changelings if at all possible and maybe one other race just so its balanced on the male to female ratio.

Im not sure how you are with female voices Blaze as i think some voice actors can do decent female voices but if you cant do you know any friends who might be willing to provide a female voice to the game?

I remember some recordings those that i offered line suggestions which was best. But at the end of the day imo (just in general) the races voices should contain (probably did it im just putting this on forum as guide)

Cardassians. - Smug and sly
Romulans Confident and prowd but sly too (always a hidden agenda)
Feds - goodie too shoes hippies
Klingons - Far over confident, proud of what they do, dont take crap from anyone and their voices are very overbaring (think of drunk ppl)
Dominon - Full of themselves, over confident, smart tho

As long as the recordings contain these aspects in the voices im sure whatever blaze does will be good. I have picked lines for klingons i believe and either cardys or romys im not sure.

Just my 2 pence worth of an opinion what id like to see the final outcome of the voices contain.

I'm not sure how well I can do a female voice I can always give it ago. and I do know some female voice actresses so I'll see if I can get on the project. I have one in mind who is also a pro. I also asked my wife who use to be in radio broadcasting and has done machinima with me she said she can give it a go and see what you all think. It probly wouldn't be till this weekend.

If my wife gives it a go would you like her to do ingame voices too? or just intro? is there another race intro that needs doing by a female?

But i dont im not sure who does tbh tho ken seems to incharge most of all. If you can try some dramatic pausing like say Bring order..... to a chatoic galaxy. And "To realise this dream... we created the vorta, to administrate our order..... and the Jem'Hdar to keep our order (or try "Jem'Hdar to enforce order")."

Actually please try that enforce order thing if u can in one line to see how it sounds as i just thought of it and sounds pretty dominion sounding with that word.

The wife idea btw sounds good, Show her the dominion lines and ask her to research ds9 female changeling on youtube if possible for a little bit to catch the sound, athority of her voice etc.
