Great episode. The show is really going somewhere. The crew pulled together. Why oh why are they cancelling this? Chloe now has more in common with "math boy." Just where will this go?

I think the ships environment sets, the cast, the setting just is a bit boring. They have just thrown some races at the crew for no real reason other than to make a plot of some sort as before the aliens came in it was boring as hell imo with no actual purpose.

The last ep was good but untill the get a decent story going it was always going to fail imo. Maybe they could have pulled out a plot but its a bit late now.

Well I for one think it's a really good story. The characters have developed nicely and I for one will dearly miss it when it finally goes. Besides, it is literally the only scifi on TV at the moment.

I know... "dropping viewership" - but like you said Captain, other shows with less viewership went on. Besides what about the lessons of Star Trek, Firefly, SG-1 and Atlantis. They have a way of becoming a hit with a loyal following that goes on an on.

BTW anyone here watch "Castle" the Writer/Detective crime series with Nathen Fillion? There have been so many Easter Egg backhanded references to Firefly!! I think he puts those in. Everything I have read says Fillion loved doing that show. He commented in an interview in American Way (the American Airline Magazine) that he keeps playing the lottery hoping to win enough money to start up the show again.

One episode was a Halloween episode. Nathan comes out in a costume with a western hat on, long leather coat, gunbelt etc. and his daughter asks, "What are you supposed to be?" Answer: "Space Cowboy." They have done this 3 - 4 x with different inside jokes.

SGU would have worked SO much better if they did more planet side missions. Most of the show is bunged up on the ship and alot of poitical rivelry between the captain and rush. It just draged on and tbh was a poor story arc.

What they should have done is first 3 episodes get crew comforatable on ship then do some exploring other worlds for perhaps something to get them home. They have mucked about far too much in boring arcs that its no surprise to me it got cancelled.

They tried to copy star trek voyage with a ship stranded far from home trying to get back and just balls'd it all up imo.

Never heard of The Event, Picard. Is it any good?

And when I wrote my post above, I totally forgot about . Anyone else watching that? Matress likes it, even if he temporarily forgets about it.

Outcasts is this year's big-budget BBC show. It's kind of like Lost, with strange and unexplainable events going on, but it's set in the future and in space, plus it has political intrigue, ethical dilemmas, and what I think is a surprisingly good cast. Unfortunately the show has had relatively poor ratings and the critics have slated it, so the BBC moved it from a prime time slot on Mondays and Tuesdays to a graveyard slot on Sunday.

Earth is on the brink of World War Three, so the world powers sent out colony ships to a planet called Carpathia, a goldilocks planet about five light-years from Earth, in a last-ditch effort to ensure the continuation of the human race. But few of the colony ships actually make it to Carpathia, and those that do, find life on Carpathia to be tougher than they expect. The people already on Carpathia live in a single settlement known as Forthaven, where they have to deal with strange weather phenomenon, the influx of new people from possibly the last colony ship, a mysterious band of people that live outside the walls of the settlement, and various mysteries about the planet.

I agree that it was an interesting episode (actually one of the best up to now) but the whole plot was a bit lame...

Another annoying point was the whole thing with Eli...

Regarding the time shift: The whole idea of being able to go back and forth in time is great for the movies but I am not sure it will ever be reality. Too chaotic. I am ok with letting science fiction writers explore all the variations of it just for fun.

I also don't think they have overdone Eli. His calculations were good but the thing didn't work due to variables he left out or couldn't forsee. He isn't Wesley Crusher, he's just "Math boy" and can make mistakes. It is believable that someone his age can be good at math. Plus at the moment he is learning from the ancients. That has got to give him some kind of edge over what you or I could do.

This seems to be Murfy's law I guess. I started watching a BBC sci-fi series called Outcasts after Matress suggested it, and the other day I found out that it also got cancelled

Anyway, the latest SGU episode sucked sooooooo much, I won't even bother griping about it.

On your observation of Rush. Good point. I hadn't thought of that. His tears when he said he loved her were pretty convincing. Maybe she found out how naturally deceitful he was, and that gave her a huge sense of doubt.

I found it al little out of character for someone of Stargate command to trick people from another world like they did in this episode.

They were even asking Rodney if he wanted to go on board Destiny. I loved the scene where he was doing math with Eli. It had a "this is not finished" tone to it.

Do you think some of Telford's previous conditioning is reasserting itself? He is coming across more ambitious at least. Maybe his evil twin went back to earth and Telford the good got electrocuted.

A very interesting episode with very suspicious behavior on Rush's part. It looks like it is going to have two parts. Does anyone think that the drone ships that destroy technology might have something to do with the civilization that was destroyed? Maybe Destiny's ancestors created them? Nah, it has been done before.

This was an interesting way to take the show. All the things that would have happened over time, compressed into one episode. Gateworld says the viewership went up. It also says they are auctioning off a lot of stuff from Stargate and Stargate Atlantis on Ebay. They are pretty sure the SGU stuff is next.
