Some Power Module work. I was also missing two of the red tanks. CB

Very nice work indeed on the Refit Connie Capt. Bashir. That's my favourite ever trek ship, so do a good job with it mate, it deserves it! And you've inspired me to get one of my old meshes out and show you what my interpretation looked like:

Thanks, maybe you didn't know, but yours was my inspiration. It is also my favorite of all the Trek ships. I have a question for you. If a Lightwave Mesh was going to be used in the game, how do you export the colors and the textures? Are they in a separate file? Or is there an export choice that naturally includes the texture work in the file? I ask for the "Fortunate." I am sure you have seen the recent one by Tobias Richter over at Sci Fy Meshes. There are rooms behind all the windows. His saucer, bridge, neck, photon torpedo assembly and deflector area are perfect. The engines are close to perfect. The pylons (the pieces that connect the hull to engines) taper and get thicker by the time they get to the engine. I also think he is a little off on the back shuttle bay especially the piece just above the doors. The orthos are here. http://www.thelightworks.com/images/gal ... _ortho.jpg

An update on the new Fortunate with brand spankin new side windows and some correction on the front deflector disks (wider) and power modules just behind them. Note: Just changed out the image for a new one with Drex File Compare

With some additional texturing it would be exactly the same.

Vjeko, could you do a small patch of surface texturing in PS to match that of the fortunate? There are a hint of metal panels, covered with the grime (browner than the color I have on it at the moment). There is also the striped appearance on the side panel on the containers. I could write out a UV map for you on that one.

Wow thanks man Regarding textures I'm not sure. What program have people been using to create models for the game, and are they using UV mapping? I know what I did for the old BoTF mods, but that was entirely different as the models were all very low poly. That model by this guy Tobias Richter is pretty awesome. Thanks for the link. He has modelled to a standard and depth of detail/resolution that puts mine to shame :/

Dafedz: I believe you used Lightwave as I am. I may have a later version. If you were able to include textures with models for your mods, I am sure it is the same for higher poly models. So what button do I push? Yeah I stumbled onto your site before I found BOTF II. Downloaded every picture I could for future reference. Writing out UV maps, painting UV maps, still trying to learn these skills. Slow, emphasize slow progress. But I'll get there. Part of the problem is that I am still excited about learning new tricks in Lightwave. Gotta focus man... BTW: my second favorite ship... The Klingon D7, followed by Enterprise E and Enterprise D. My LEAST favorite - Altered timeline JJ Abrams version. Gag.... Have you all seen this guys massive "Excaliber" Quite a ship! Captain - It's gonna be my first thing tomorrow, I've been working on a part of the Fed intro video until now, and I still need a HQ connie pre-refit model. It's currently 0:48 and I'm gonna call it a night.
Good night everyone.

Captain, try it with this one, it can title without any visible edge, you should apply it as small hull patches over the entire ship, next you will have to map specific areas like panes, exhaust ports, Hull registry... and send me some reference images so that I could do them separately.

I will be gone for a while but here is your texture wrapped around the faces of the Containers. You really did a nice job. The color is spot on. It is up to me to add any extra grime. I would like to paint on the lines on the front of the door as well as the number you see in the green and white in the upper left corner. There is also the horizontal brown striping effect on that side panel you can see in the picture. I will have to send you UV maps later.

Thanks. I use Lightwave 6.5 which does support UV mapping. But tbh I can't immediately remember the exact process, I don't have it installed at the moment and its been long while since I did any 3D work. You can create and save a UV scheme with Lightwave but your best bet is probably Unwrap 3D - an excellent (and quite cheap) program that is superb for dealing with low poly models. Thats the way I did it for mods. However high poly modeling is quite different as I used regular surface mapping for that and not UV, and that involves an awful lot of time/work and loads of separate, individual textures. That uber-ship model is a lot of the top but at the same time awesome I gotta say. Wish it was one of mine! lol. Vjeko: what is the constitution you need for? If a game model I can't see it tbh. My Constituion is over 100k polys and uses about 70 texture files as i recall.

I found one, I needed it for federation intro video. But I will need galaxy class model, ambassador, actually any good Federation ship model you would be willing to share. I'll put the script for it here.
Video: NX-01 leaves earth orbit and goes to warp. Voice Actor: This is truly a historic day, a day when we established the United Federation - of - Planets. //Background sound of stadium cheering the speaker.
Video: Constitution pre-refit in orbit of Vulcan. The Federation's charter is to discover strange new worlds, to seek out new life, and new civilizations. //cheering
Video: Constitution class refit approaching a nebula Voice Actor: Starfleet's mission is to explore the galaxy,...
Video: Federation fleet boldly responding to aggression. Voice Actor: ...preserve the peace and respond to aggression.
Video: Three federation ships (possibly Galaxy, Intrepid and Defiant or NX, Constitution and Galaxy or any three you see fit.) warping into a federation symbol (with their warp flashes becoming the three stars in the symbol) Voice Actor:On this day we have made our first steps, it's our time to boldly go where no one has gone before.
So any model that is mentioned here or would fit in the undefined area you are willing to lend to us for these intro videos.
Thanks.

Thanks but it's just a test texture. If you are satisfied I won't change it then. In the meantime I'll do the horizontal strip part and send it to you. It would take time for me to familiarize myself with the work you did so far. Attachment:

Hey vjeko here is a container end panel and my feeble attempt at understanding photoshop. I think there is the lighter brown color from the actual Fortunate picture as one layer. You can eyedropper the darker one. I can't figure out how draw a line in photoshop. The Help file was one of the most frustrating things I have ever encountered. The stripes shouldn't go on the edge ridge on the end panel. I tried the one you posted above but I couldn't make the striping show up. I don't think it was quite the right color. When I messed around with photoshop I could see that there was a way to do blurred lines. I think the end panel was two-toned but the lines appear blurred, probably because they are from indentations vs ridges.

Well I used two layers with the top one a bit darker and with a mask. The mask was a horizontal texture from photoshop and with applied motion blur at 90 degrees. I can write a short tutorial for you if you want with the basic functions when I get the time.
I'm currently not home so I'll have to check it out later.

I would REALLY appreciate a tutorial on PS. Screen shots and all. We could make it a download from the sharepoint site for other Emmisarys in training such as myself. The textures we could do...
Dafedz: I know what you mean when it comes to forgetting how to do something. I think it is such a shame you are not still doing meshes and ships.

I built some much better detailed engines. Two views. To say there is more bottom work to be done on this ship would be putting it mildly. Warp Bashir

Did some underside work on the "scaffolding" and engine mount. Unfortunately, the pictures of this are not very easy to interpret.
