A six second video animation of that model takes about 6 hours to render. I make corrections and run it again until it looks right. It should not be too much longer.

Beautiful. I'm still against that first image rotating, we don't have permission to use all that stuff from the shows.

We do not have permission to use the name Star Trek. We lack permission to the ships of Star Trek and the terms from Star Trek like Starfleet, United Federation of Planets, Klingon..... Why is that still image so important or in some way different from what we have been doing for years now?

I gotta learn to do that. It is really, really awesome. Captures a feeling of nostalgia for each of the series. A real winner Kenneth!! You are the man! :bigthumb:

Beside animation blender also has a game engine. The sad fact is that it is not compatible with Mike's code. It would be so easy to add 3d combat if it was.

Does someone have a link to the video of Federation ships warping into the Federation Emblem with the Stars flaring in the position of the stars in the emblem? I need to get the timing down.

Yes, I am looking for a copy of that scene from Star Trek, I guess it was Enterprise, where the Big E, a Vulcan ship, if I recall it right, and a third ship warp into the Star Field. You see the flash of the warp build turn into the three stars of the emblem.

On YouTube here is my first take on the Federation Intro Video. As with the Klingons I will make a list of things to change or fix. Changes will, however, wait until the other intros are completed. I left off the title and the credits so it is as will be seen in game. Credits for work here will be in the game credits for now. I will do a version with credits if someone feels the need. Thanks again to everyone, we know who you are. I will send a copy to Gino to have the special effects sounds added.

It is, it is....AWESOME Kenneth!
I think I'll have to redo it and raise the music a little, I feel it's a bit lost behind the speaker. What do you think?

Looks excellent, I was just thinking it would be better if the ships warped into the insignia I made that's in the same style as the Klingon one.

I use a star field background for the fleet scene as the camera flies around. I will have to figure out a way to transition into your opaque background with emblem. That or turn the background at least partly alpha transparent so I fan float it in front of the star field.

Well I had the idea that it appears from nothing when the ships go to warp, that should solve the problem.

Thanks amon ome. I am just now learning to do animated CG so that is encouraging. It seams to take a month or more to do one of these.

@Vjeko: If your emblem appears from alpha transparent it will bring with it the star field background you put in that image. The first time I tried it the boarder of the supporting mesh was visible and you can see stars disappear and appear. I will play with the setting to see if I can make the edge disappear where those stars and my background stars meet. When I moved to the old ingame Federation emblem on a transparent background it worked right out of the box. If your emblem and the nebula were set on a transparent background I might be able to keep the current setting for the supporting mesh / material. Your emblem is better for this, and not just because of the higher resolution. We will see.

This is a very fine skill you have dude.

Bashir

The only problem with it... is that I didn't do it.

Thanks Captain and Vjeko about that BUT it just hit me! What issue with the stars moving may be just what I need to make decloaking look as seen in Star Trek movies and TV, all wiggly. Thank you

Here is the video with master Gino's updated audio. Less is more, he seams to have the level just right.

I will save a spot to replace that emblem when we have one on a transparent background. I know you are busy now Vjeko so it can wait.

Happytrek: Ha! Love it! Also the music seriously works!

KOB: Even better. It gets 4 WOWs at Bashir's moviephone.

We had talked about using your Romulan Emblem to open the Romulan intro. I was thinking of animating the emblem in a differently way from the Klingon. I want to decloak the emblem onto the background. To do that I will need the emblem with a transparent background (just like I will need the Federation emblem on transparent) For the Romulans though I do not need to depend on a blender generated star-field background for the Romulans. Unlike the Federation there will not be any camera motion that would give away the edge of your image. I would, however, need the background for the Romulan emblem as a separate image, if not a selectable layer in a composite, to work with. I know you are busy so only when you are free.

I am open to suggestions about the rest of the animation. Here is a link to the audio mockup we have for the Romulans.

I'm on it man. About the animations, isn't there a script somewhere?

This is what is said in the current mockup for the Romulans

Romulans are the rightful rulers of the galaxy.

As Praetor uphold these principles that guide The Romulan Star Empire and never fail.

Keep the Empire's assets hidden. Divide your enemies and take advantage when they are weak.

Never reveal your true intentions. Trust no one and you will not be conquered.

I was thinking that a similar montage would work.

We all remember this

I agree for the similar montage, but I'm certain I proposed some script for it, I'll search.

Ok, I found this to be the newest version of the Romulan script, I may be wrong though.

Romulans are the rightful rulers of the galaxy.
Obedience, duty, war, these are the principles that must guide you.

(Romulan logo I made, a bit animated)
In order to win first study the enemy, find their weakness.
(Romulan espionage window with a bit of animation)
Shroud the Empire from our enemies eyes. Conquer them when they are at their weakest.
Never reveal your true intentions

(Romulan fleet leaving Romulus and cloaking)

That Romulan theme music was awesome! Nailed it. You'd think of the Romulans even if it wasn't part of the game. Bashir
