mikem wrote: Hi there, Just downloaded supremacy yesterday so am literally quite late to the game. But it's awesome, all the creatives (coders, artists, musicians everyone) have worked really hard and produced something that is actually (in my opinion) as good as or better than BOTF. Inspired the game and everyone's work, I put together this, not sure if it fits in the game because it can get a bit busy and need to work a bit on the ending but here it is. I was trying to get a similar style the the music for Starship Creator (the old rubbish Simon & Schuster game), so a little bit exciting, a little bit 'explory' like the BOTF score. Love your work HappyTrek btw. I've 6MB so too big to upload here, so it's on my server: http://mike-martin.com/audio/Universe%2 ... lities.mp3Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike M Hi Mike! Let me first welcome you to Supremacy forum and let me say Thank you for your appreciation of my music. Your composition is really beautiful. If you like, we could work together in creating some superb songs. There's still much to do here and two minds are even better than one. I could help you get it to loop at the right place. All you would have to do is add something at the end, similar than the start of the song. If you wish, PM (send me a private message) me and we could work things out together. Good day Mike!

Hi HappyTrek, vjeko1701 and Kenneth_of_Borg,
Thanks for the welcome! Sorry to hear about that pro musician not working out (egos), my background is a music degree in composition and have experience in film music, not game music but professionally I'm a software developer (can do some C sharp code but an not an expert in that language).
HappyTrek, will PM you, thanks for the feedback.

Hi and welcome Kaladin! Thank you for keeping informed. Things are doing pretty well as for sound and music. I did a great deal of songs for the games, around 40, but there's still more to be done. And before we can implement the music and the sound, we still have to work with the video and imaging aspect although much is done already and things are moving a lot. You can also get more updated news by watching the other topics in the Home page. Some of them have music also, I slipped some songs here and there Others have superb images and if my memory serves me right, I think you can find some Intro video animations that Kenneth Of Borg made a while ago. We are working on making the intro animations on the five Major races, Federation, Klingon, Cardassian, Romulan and Dominion, but there's a ton of minor races also, like Ferengii, Kazon, Kil'rathi etc.. among those that we encountered in most of the series. Borg combat has also been mentioned but not implemented yet. As I mentioned, there is still a lot to be done and right now we're working on completing a Multiplayer Combat system soon. Have you downloaded the Alpha version already on the site? We might have an updated version coming up very soon with new images and sounds. Keep on the lookout for this! Good day Kaladin! Happytrek

HappytrekYup I most definitely have got that downloaded and it is great. I was chatting with you earlier in the thread when you were mentioning new music and " Sucking Pieces" and figured I'd follow up. I'm a fan of the music you guys have put out so far, it was when I first heard the samples of the music yourself and others did that really made me think you guys have something special here in this game, it matches perfectly with the fabulous art and masterful game design. Been following the additions you made and was watching this thread for awhile just haven't noticed any new music/sound updates lately so figured I'd ask. (I also occasionally keep and eye on the music section of your shared site too). Good to know things in all departments are still going strong.

I'm sorry to say that the previous version of this game does not have my music in it. The songs already in the game were made by someone else, prior to my arrival. But they will be part of the new release they're planning soon. As you already chatted with me before, and so watched the forum, you must have listened to some of my songs already and/or seen the intros/demo videos that my friends made which include my own songs. Those will be part of what's coming, alas I can't say when. I might put some more to listen in this music topic. But you must understand that I cannot reveal too much or else I'd break the surprise of the new release to come and I'll get kicked in the ...! Just watch it in the days to come, I will put on some more cuties for you. Right now, I'm in studio, arranging some of my own songs. Yeah, I remember the blunt I made (or maybe not) I'm French Canadian and sometimes I slip an expression that I translate oddly. But sometimes I like to pun... a little! Glad you like the events so far. The guys here really make a wonderful job! For a free game ! Cheers Kaladin! Happytrek

(The Birth of the Federation 2 Consortium > Shared Documents > Music) I wouldn't worry, your English is pretty good and much better than my French . Plus its nice to see that a fellow Canadian is working on the project (I'm from the West coast). Eidt: I think the link is broken above.

Yeah I looked there but missed it somehow, thanks for the directions That is actually one of the ones I like, I swear I heard that around here before, was it originally in the experimental and test folder or elsewhere under a same/different name? ... It was used in the intro (as you mentioned), but I swear I heard a version of it without voice before, strange. Never the less, awesome job guys, I can't wait to see the intros that go along with that fantastic music.

Sorry for the broken link Kaladin. Looks like I goofed again! I'm happy you already knew this one though. It's normal that you've heard them without the voices because they are two different parts and since I made the music before the intros were done... Anyway, just keep it up watching the forum, Kenneth will be posting more of the intros as soon as they're ready and revised. Keep in mind that we might add or change some parts since they're not officially finished yet. I will practice my link making and send you some real ones soon.

I know you'll be amazed because I am and I'm partly working on them! Each time I play them over and over I can't stop from having shivers all over! I have Kenneth Of Borg, Captain Bashir, vjeko1701, and Blaze Lee Dragon to warmly thank for their superb contribution.

You should do a before and after screenshot / video of the early work versus the final draft later down the road, would be fun to see the progress from begining to end.

Oh separate question...
Are you guys going to do a "game" intro like one introducing the game, like a title sequence; sort of a race neutral video that’s more of a Supremacy introduction?

That would have been a interesting idea to have a beginning story (sort of) but it would have to be very long since it will have to explain how each major race begun his Empire and conquered or colonized their planet because we are all unknown to each other when we start the game. But as he is in charge of the intros, Kenneth Of Borg is best suited to answer you in this matter. He's the real pro for that.

Kaladin, Listen to this oneor this oneI hope the link works this time! But, as they're often used for testing or rearranging, I cannot guarantee that the link will stay valid for ever. These one are meant for Cardassian and Federation races respectively. But it can go anywhere the Boss Mike decides. He gets the final move on this. Happy listening! BTW: You mentioned that you're from the West Coast, didn't you? Would you care to tell me where? Because to me West Coast is a bit vague. Unless you prefer not to say. I'm from the province of Quebec.

There has been an independent YouTube video made about the game. It contains some clips from Star Trek episodes so it will not be used in our game. Though we, as a fan game, are playing fast and loose with CBS Paramount content there are some things even we will not put in the game.
I would like to consider an original game promotional video but still have a lot to do on the race intros. If a combat engine became available video work would wait for combat models.

I'd go with something like the Borg - the game is called Supremacy, who better to show supremacy? - basically describing each race/empire in a briefing like movie, mostly in greens and black, going over home systems and ships schematics clips. A Borg drone/voice going over a threat level assessment, with the strengths and weaknesses (biological and technological) of each species, using their designations, reporting to the Queen: "Species 5618. They call themselves the Humans. Biologically weak, technologically limited. Warp capable, yadda yadda yadda..."Since we're going to have the Borg as a random event, it'd be a neutral intro, and the Borg are always cool.

Oh no I wasn't meaning introduce Star Trek, story or races, sort of like… hrmmm, how to put this... You know how when you first load a game there is a teaser trailer or opening movie, that’s what I mean. Something that has music, and shows like ships moving, then maybe someone yelling something (maybe multiple people of different races), then ships fighting, then words appearing like “build your empire”, "Conquer your opponents", “then control the stars”, eventually leading up to Supremacy Title appearing. By the way I'm just randomly stating examples to illustrate my point, not directly suggesting any of these things. It doesn’t need to be a story, though I guess it could. I hope that’s clearer on what I mean. EDIT: Randomly typed in "Game intros" into youtube and found this for Eve Online, and it ends up being a perfect example of what I was meaning. It has little to no specific story in it, just "you will fight, survive, yadda yadda...etc." and shows ships moving and battles.--> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNyfI4dv1dg

Both are good ideas. What happens after these alpha versions of Race intro videos depends on where we are at that time.
I should check with people like Happytrek and Blaze and everyone here about where best to put our efforts at the time.
We want to do what will improve the game and attracted more workers.

Oh! OK! Now I see what you're meaning. Yeah, that would be a nice idea indeed. Since Supremacy will be a mix between colonization, alien encounter and battle, I think, like Iceman mentioned, the most dangerous threat would be the Borg, which hang like the Sword of Damocles over every race that exist and the best defense would be technology...
I guess it could be used as a suggestion.
