That is very good work. It is not a real big place but there are likely a lot of regional offices. The red has a better quality now.

Do you think I should scale down the windows and doors and make it seem bigger? I debated that one myself.

One suggestion if i may: I would suggest a different colour for the floor for the final pic. Of course some planet surface background would be great. Windows are fine imo, but i am not sure if i was asked.

Given the size of these images ingame I would say this does the job. Make the building bigger and detail is lost. This image tells the story. Forgive me for falling back on my catch phrase but it is "representational." It works.

Thanks. The old image with Bat'leths would work as a tournament arena, or sporting event venue. I'll refine this one.

I like it the way it is...IMO the windows are perfect in size, the textures go well with the building.

v-man so good to see you! Don't ya just love the windows. Did you ever find out how the 640x480 worked on your new display. I still can do a custom set if you need them. I have been considering the Romulan shipyards and may have an idea for them.

I'm far far away from all that...I'm currently in Zagreb and I won't go home for at least a week of two. I have temp internet connection in the apartment right now.

It looks much better! I think Iver is right though, the floor should be different. It's too close to the color of the walls. The placement of the door also looks a bit odd, a bit "hidden". But the red is much better, the scale is good and the feel of the building too.

Good, fire gives it a worm Klingon feeling. It makes we want to kill something with soft fur and sad brown eyes.

Ok you sold me that new building is great. I like the character of that building and the place where you put the doors and windows gives it even more of a story. The colors on it are great too, especially the new red glass. I must say I actually dislike the fountain thing you added and the fire I like even less (sorry to be negative on this point). I think Klingons can have fountains but it needs to be more Klingon-y The fire also looks really fake compared to the wonderful detail you have done on the rest of the building. Rendering/Drawing/Sizing fire is really difficult I hear so I have respect for that effort. I also agree the floor color of the first needed changing, but the second one while better still seems odd, the building looks out of place on it for some reason. Maybe a rusty grass color, or vary the depth of the ground so it doesn't look flat (might be hard to place the building on it though... I'm sure you will come up with something astonishing, you usually do. Overall good work, really like what you have came up with so far.

You might be able to give a feeling for scale to the Heavy Replicator by putting the control panels on stands. Also a handrail around the sides may help to show how small any member of one of our major races would be next to the device.

Early Romulan Fleetyard Concept. Lots of work to do. Not happy with the ship bays yet.

Thanks Kaladin. I just realized that the main body looks like a stoneware serving dish with a lid on it (with a knob handle). I added that at the last minute but fortunately have the pre knob version still. Unless we want the Romulans to look domestic, I think I'd better come up with something else to give the main station interest.

The Fleetyards are, when you finish, to have six bays for building ships.

That statement makes me want to kill something with soft fur and sad brown eyes... Thanks Ken, I won't forget. I spent some time looking at Romulan archetecture and ships and have a better idea for top detail too.

Six Bay Romulan Fleet Yard. I still need to put lights in each ship bay.

That looks good. I am thinking this would be a workable scale for the 3D combat engine as well.
We run into an issue with the Star Bases in that regard. Some of these are shown in canon with starships flying around inside of them. It gets to be an issue when you try to use them in a combat engine screen view. In the end I am thinking we will have to down scale them to some degree for use in combat.

Make the knob slightly bigger (as in wider) and add windows around it in a band, that should make it look like an observation deck.

Are the Bays maybe too small then? Would all the ships fit in those bays? and would they have bays that could adjust to the size of the ship?

I'm still not happy with the bays - I keep looking at the old Romulan shipyards and my bays aren't Romulan enough. I don't want to exactly copy the old ones though. I need to consider the size of the windows on the station to the size on the warbirds. The warbird windows will be smaller, if anything, since they are often portholes. The skyscrapers around the "crockpot knob" are just exactly that. Small skyscrapers (just to convey the scale I was going for). I modeled them after some of the buildings in the Romulan buildings around the senate.

Mike has a view of ships being constructed in the user interface. It does not use the ship and station models though. It runs on 2D images. I do not expect to see ship construction in the combat engine.

Some quick comments:
Working Party: I agree with Kaladin about the fountain and the fire, and the floor which already been mentioned.
Heavy Replicator: Don't really like it. I don't particularly like the colors, and the perspective is not correct; even if it were, I still wouldn't like it. Like I mentioned elsewhere, we should go with building pics, not apparatuses, for consistency and continuity - I started that other thread about the names of PFs precisely because of this. A building that looks like a production facility is flexible enough to be used whatever it is called.
Romulan Fleetyard: I kind of agree with it looking like a serving dish. I don't see a problem with it looking more like the old ones, on the contrary, they looked good enough. The fleetyard looked like a sketch but the idea was very good IMO.
I know they all sound negative, and I wasn't going to post because of it, but that's what I think.
